Hi all, within the Mailbox-Module I found a new "feature". If I clean up an mbox-file (spam i.e.) Usermin redirects me to the main index after cleaning up. http://217.115.144.166:20000/mailbox/index.cgi?folder=3DConnection:%20clo= se Same thing comes up, if you move a whole mbox to to another mbox. Is this a new behaviour? Or does this URL only come up on error? Before this I have been presenting the empty mbox view and I would like to have it back :-) bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 http://webmin.mamemu.de/ Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 Proud Forte Agent 2.0 Beta Tester |

I maintain about 15 domains, and I was wondering if anybody could help me in writing a batch process for users. I manage my domains with virtual-servers, but I don't like the settings that the webmin-users get. Could I have a little help in writing a perl script that would say...Flag "Can only view existing reports" for all my users under webalizer. Would it be possible to write it as a module? Or would I just want a script. Thanks for the help. -ben P.S: I plan on releasing this to the Virtualmin Virtual Servers project if they want it |

Howdy folks, this patch is adding another "browser bar" to the mailbox-feature in Usermin. If the count of eMail-Subjects you are watching is exceeding your actual window size and you need to scroll to the bottom of the page, you have to go up all the way in order to browser to another page. This patch is just a copy and paste from the top browser bar. No new code is in it. Patch is done against Usermin Version 1.069. ###################################################################### Hint: Maybe it's just possible to activate another setup feature to Usermin's "Mailbox", so that users can click on ... Well, AFAIS the earlier suggestion made by Andrew would be better than nothing at the moment - not a generic undo/rollback (well, not yet at least) but a simple "are you still there?" confirmation step after modifying network settings: > > A simple manual click by a user would confirm the changes > > that were made. Just a second "Confirm" step afterwards.. and, if there was no confirmation, a timer (set to.. 30 seconds) alarms and the previous network settings are restored. //conny |

Adding New Languages to Webmin 2. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? 3. Use a nice script for developing languages. 4. Samples 5. Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. The best way to tar up everything is with the command : tar czf /tmp/translation.tar.gz */lang/sw lang/sw */module.info */config.info.sw */help/*.sw.html ###################################################################### 2. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? Yes (by Jamie Cameron) There is a way to do this - create a lang/ subdirectory under your theme with the usual en, de and other files. Then in your theme CGIs or .pl, use code like : %mytext = &load_language("my-theme-directory"); print "<b>$mytext{'something'}</b> <p>\n"; ###################################################################### 3. Use a nice script for developing languages. Christophe Chisogne developed a script which is available in a special Download-Area at www.webmin.com. http://www.webmin.com/wtco/char2ent.pl There will be more stuff to download there soon. As example: dodiff.sh An easy interface to diff between en-files and your language file. dolinks.sh As there are many symlinks between Webmin and Usermin on Jamies Computer I wrote this little script which does a symlink-detection for you. So it could be that if you develop for a Usermin- Module you enhance a Webmin-Module as well :-) This is the output from the help: perl char2ent.pl Usage: char2ent [--mode=html|work] [-b] [-c] 8bitfile.txt ... char2ent [--help] [--version] --mode=x, -m=x choose html mode (default) or work mode --backup, -b backup of modified file --confirm, -c confirm conversion of each file If you still need other Entities ... German http://www.ramsch.org/martin/uni/fmi-hp/iso8859-1.html Unicode http://www.theorem.ca/~mvcorks/code/charsets/auto.html ###################################################################### 4. I thought your idea was to have a configuration that would test the network (ping or something) on a pre-defined IP and if after a certain period roll-back the changes. This would bring back the network (assuming the previous config is correct). -Andrew Jamie Cameron wrote: >I haven't been doing any development in that area yet unfortunately.. >However, the ideas I have planned wouldn't really help you either, as an >error that cuts off access to Webmin would prevent you from hitting the >'undo' button to fix it! > > - Jamie > >On Tue, 2004-03-30 at 09:25, Andrew Kornak wrote: > > >>Jamie, >> >> I did it again! I haven't been doing any development in that area yet unfortunately.. However, the ideas I have planned wouldn't really help you either, as an error that cuts off access to Webmin would prevent you from hitting the 'undo' button to fix it! - Jamie On Tue, 2004-03-30 at 09:25, Andrew Kornak wrote: > Jamie, > > I did it again! Jamie, I did it again! I messed up the network settings and lost my server! Are there any plans to add the "revert network settings for idiots" feature any time soon? The current 1.139 version of webmin looks for the mount.cifs command, and if found assumes that CIFS is being used instead of SMBFS. Since this is not the correct thing to do, version 1.140 will allow the use of both. Oddly, the latest Fedora seems to have replaced smbfs with cifs, which is why I initially made that change. - Jamie |

I have been assuming up to now >that they are pretty much just different names for the same thing .. That's a good question, because I simply do not know anything about CIFS and when I installed Webmin 1.139 I heard about CIFS for the first time :-) They are not 100% compatible, because when I tried to mount an SMBFS with the CIFS-part I received an error I cannot recall from scratch. bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 http://webmin.mamemu.de/ Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 Proud Forte Agent 2.0 Beta Tester |

Thanks for pointing that out - this is a bug in 1.139, that will be fixed before the 1.140 release. How different are SMBFS and CIFS anyway? Howdy, Would it be possible to get back SMBFS-Support into Webmin's "Local Filesystem"-Module? Seems to be that CIFS is not the same as SMBFS. Is there any reason why stopping to support something that has worked properly before? cu Martin -- Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 http://www.webmin.com/ Primary http://webmin.mamemu.de/ Mirror |

I have some modules in php that used to work pretty well with webmin 1.120 and debian/woody. Passing to webmin 1.130 on Deabia/Sarge they do not work anymore. The very little index.cgi one that does not work is: #!/usr/bin/php4 -q <?php header("Content-type: text/html; Charset=iso-8859-1\n\n"); print "<html><head><title>prova</title></head><body>ciao</body></html>\n"; ?> The error message being: "Error: Bad Header" It works if I write: print "Content-type: text/html; Charset=iso-8859-1\n\n"; but that's not the standard way, and all my script (and web-lib.php) use the other way... any clues?
