Hi Webmin developers and translators, Webmin 1.140 will be coming out soon, so I have created a 1.139 development pre-release for interested people to test before the official 1.140 version comes out. Translators should also take a look at this version to find any new strings that need conversion. You can get the 1.139 version from : http://www.webmin.com/devel/tarballs/webmin-1.139.tar.gz or http://www.webmin.com/devel/rpm/webmin-1.139-1.noarch.rpm Usermin 1.060 will also be available soon, and so I have created a corresponding 1.069 pre-release for testing and translation. You can get it from : http://www.webmin.com/devel/tarballs/usermin-1.069.tar.gz or http://www.webmin.com/devel/rpm/usermin-1.069-1.noarch.rpm The complete change log since Webmin 1.130 is shown below : Webmin Users: Improved the code for finding the openssl program for generating certificates. Added the ability to restrict allowed Unix users who can login as Webmin users. BIND DNS Server: A new Module Config option is available to define extra DNS record types for the module to support in a generic way. This allows user who want to create obscure types like NAPTR, KEY and so on to do so. Cluster Change Passwords: First version of this module released, with functionality similar to the Change Passwords module. Perl Modules: When installing Perl modules from CPAN, an option is available to have any dependencies automatically downloaded and installed as well. Scheduled Cron Jobs: Environment variables can be edited in user Cron files, and jobs and variable settings moved around. DHCP Server: Group and subnet descriptions are now shown in the list of groups and networks that a host or other element can be assigned to. Fetchmail Mail Retrieval: A new form has been added for creating and scheduling a Cron job to run Fetchmail, as an alternative to running the daemon File Manager: An uploaded zip, tar or tar.gz file can be extracted in the directory it was uploaded to. Directories can now be downloaded as zip, tar or tar.gz files Added improved access control options to hide buttons. Added a chroot access control option to hide all directories above it. Read User Mail: The first version of this module, which extracts the mail reading functionality from the Sendmail, Postfix and Qmail modules and puts it into a more powerful server-independent user email module instead. Disk and Network Filesystems: Mounting of SMB filesystems is now supported on FreeBSD, using the mount_smbfs command and /etc/nsmbrc file. Filesystems can now be sorted by directory, type or order in fstab and mtab files. PPP Dialup Client: Added a button for having a PPP connection started at boot time, by automatically creating an init script. CVS Server: If no CVS repository is found in the configured directory, the module can now set one up for you. Software Packages: Packages can now be installed directly from yum, if installed. The entire system can also be upgraded from yum. Usermin Configuration: The default background, text and link colours of pages can be edited for Usermin, just like in Webmin. Unavailable modules are shown in red on the module restriction page. And the changes since Usermin 1.060 are : Fetchmail Mail Retrieval: A new form has been added for creating and scheduling a Cron job to run Fetchmail, as an alternative to running the daemon File Manager: An uploaded zip, tar or tar.gz file can be extracted in the directory it was uploaded to. Directories can now be downloaded as zip, tar or tar.gz files Added configuration options to hide buttons from users. SpamAssassin Mail Filter: Spam mail can now be searched, and the whole spam folder deleted with a single button. - Jamie |

That will be just great! in the mean time I managed to recomple new kernel with smbmnt support . what I've learned form fedora-devel list about cifs support in their Kernel is that they are testing cifs and if all works fine smbmnt support will be off by default in Fedora core 2 release due in May. On the other hand there seems to be only two people really interested in cifs/smbmnt situation one being me :-) anyway if you are interested you can always look through fedora-devel mailing list. Thanks for this information.. Hopefully the commands for mounting CIFS and SMBFS are similar enough, so that all Webmin needs to do is use -t cifs instead of -t smbfs in the mount command, and everything will work. I will include this fix in the upcoming 1.140 release of Webmin, hopefully due out it about a week. - Jamie |

No, its not. When nounting via smbfs in webmin: "Error: smbfs filesystem not supported by kernel...." Kernel version is 2.6.4-1.286 form Fedora Core 2 Test 1 apparently `support for smbmnt is out and support for cifs is in. Once mounted via cifs U can see them in webmin in Disk and Network Filesystems but shares can't be made permanent nor can be edited. It might be only Fedora/Red Hat idea during testing, and they will revert to using smbmnt in release Kernels. Still If they decide to stay with cifs..... curently I mount my shares via shell with following command: mount -t cifs -o username=administrator //Nexus/Downs /home/bart/nexus_downs/ Jamie Cameron wrote: >Isn't CIFS just another name for SMBFS, which Webmin already supports >(at least on Linux). Isn't CIFS just another name for SMBFS, which Webmin already supports (at least on Linux). Hi there, Does anyone know, or is able to suggest, how I can prevent a piece of code in my module from re-executing when the user refreshes the page in their browser? I've tried setting a value in %in but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks David |

I see the bug - the line @servers = split (/,/$access{ed_srvrs}); should read @servers = split (/,/, $access{ed_srvrs}); This is also a bug in Webmin, as the user ACL page should display some kind of error in cases like this. Also, since %access won't be set in this context, you need to put this line at the top of the function : %access = %{$_[0]}; - Jamie On Mon, 2004-03-08 at 00:48, Marco Rebsamen wrote: > Hi allsome > > I got some troubles with acl_security.pl. Hi allsome I got some troubles with acl_security.pl. If i want to edit the rights for some user, i always get this error gamecom::acl_security_form failed : Undefined subroutine &gamecom::acl_security_form called at (eval 20) line 2. Webmin: 1.121 Here's my code: #!/usr/bin/perl -w do '../web-lib.pl'; &init_config(); sub acl_security_form { @servers = split (/,/$access{ed_srvrs}); @srv_actions = split (/\//,$access{srv_actions}); @pl_actions = split (/\//,$access{pl_actions}); print "<tr> <td colspan=2>Serverzugriff</td> </tr>"; foreach $server (@servers) { if ($server ne "X") { print "<tr> <td>User hat zugriff auf:</td> <td>$server Server<input type=checkbox name=ed_srvrs value=\"$server,\"> </td> </tr>"; } else { } } }; |

This could be done fairly easily by having webmin's webserver implement functionality similar to mod_webapp for Apache, which just passes requests for certain paths through to a separate tomcat server for exection. However, any such servlets would be totally on their own, outside of the normal Webmin API and access control mechanisms. A superior option would be to have support for servlets built into Webmin's webserver, so that modules could be written in Java. Of course, a lot of the API that is written in Perl would have to be duplicated, so this would be a large project - but it certainly could be done. - Jamie On Sat, 2004-02-28 at 14:41, ra...@si... wrote: > So this brings up an interesting question reguarding Java. So this brings up an interesting question reguarding Java. What is the possibility of providing Java support in the Webmin miniserv or modules (possibily by providing Tomcat functionality)? Just an interesting thought. =09---- Randy On Fri, 27 Feb 2004, Peter Astrand wrote: > > It would be nice if Webmin could support Suns Java Desktop, and also SUSE > LINUX Desktop (which Java Desktop is based upon). Theree is no support in the works for Java Desktop at the moment, but if it is based on SuSE it shouldn't be too hard to add. If you can email me off the list with a login and password, I would be glad to login to a system running this distro and do a port .. - Jamie On Fri, 2004-02-27 at 21:13, Peter Astrand wrote: > It would be nice if Webmin could support Suns Java Desktop, and also SUSE > LINUX Desktop (which Java Desktop is based upon). It would be nice if Webmin could support Suns Java Desktop, and also SUSE LINUX Desktop (which Java Desktop is based upon). Anyone working on this already? What are the steps for adding support for a new distribution? I can probably provide access to a Java Desktop system, if anyone wants to work on this. -- Peter Åstrand www.thinlinc.com Cendio www.cendio.se Teknikringen 3 Phone: +46-13-21 46 00 583 30 Linköping |

Hi all, I just want to tell you that your "Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator (WTCO)" is on vacation from 01.03.2004 - 17.03.2004 visiting the United States of America. Well, I do have my notebook with me and from time to time I will have a look to my eMails but vacation is for recovery so I will switch into "reader`s mode" only during that time. Have a lot of fun :-) bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 http://webmin.mamemu.de/ Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 Proud Forte Agent 2.0 Beta Tester |

Hi Jamie, after upgrading to the latest Usermin-Devel I have problems with Usermins Fetchmail Module Before I start with this I would like to suggest, to have a Version-Number at the top of each module like I saw it for the latest Logrotate-Version. Maybe like this =46etchmail 6.2.5-1.backports.org.1 =46etchmail-Module v 1.134 (guessed) This would make reporting problems a bit easier. ###################################################################### =46etchmail 6.2.5-1.backports.org.1 Problem seen in Usermin 1.064 after clicking on "Scheduled Checking" Error - Perl execution failed Can't locate ../ui-lib.pl in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.3/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.3 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/share/perl5 .) at /usr/libexec/usermin//fetchmail/edit_cron.cgi line 7.
