Hi tuxpaint-devel & sdl readers... Someone reported this via SourceForge earlier this month (so, 0.9.14 vers.) I have a tablet PC running windows XP tablet edition and everything works fine in windowed model. In fullscreen mode I can use the mouse pad to draw, but when I touch the screen with the stylus the cursor moves around erraticly, going from one side of the screen to the other very quickly. Any ideas? -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

Oh, well. Guess who didn't test the zip archives before uploading them. I've been using 7Zip for over 6 months with good results :-( Looks like its back to using PowerArchiver for me, or perhaps I should just not use the 'Deflate64' option? There's a problem with win98 machines with limited resources that I'm currently tracking down, so hopefully there's going to be another version anyway, cheers, John Popplewell. |

When creating a ZIP file for distr., it is the best to use the oldest possible ZIP format. Think about LINUX Users which use the old ZIP commandline tools. CU |

Other people are having trouble, too: When the stamp package is installed TuxPaint will start, and run until the stamp button is selected. Then I get the error message (below) and TuxPaint shuts down. The fellow who sent me the following screenshot is running Tux Paint Config on Mac OS X 10.4. They're from Germany, so perhaps their system locale is affecting TPC. (I think there are some gettext lines in there, but they are as of yet unused. I haven't gotten around to i18n'ifying TPC yet.) I'll test this on the Mac I've got at home (thanks to Ryan @ icculus.org!!!) tonight, but in the meantime thought I'd ask around these lists... http://www.sonic.net/~nbs/TuxPaintConfig_Screenshot.jpg Thanks! -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

Oooh, nice. Does that mean I'll soon be losing my job as Mac maintainer?? :-) I'll still get around to committing my changes to CVS tonight or tomorrow; then you can give the Tux Paint XCode project a whirl... PS - I'll be getting a Mac Mini soon so that I can test things, answer Mac users' questions, and perhaps one day build the darned thing myself. So I'll probably be asking a lot of Mac questions around here and/or the SDL mailing lists in the coming weeks. ;) |

Here are the builds for Mac OS X: Tux Paint: http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~fuhrer/tuxpaint/ tuxpaint-0.9.15-macosx.dmg This package contains both Tux Paint 0.9.15 and Tux Paint Config 0.0.6. I have tested them successfully on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and newer, and they should run on Mac OS X 10.2.8, though I'd need someone to test this to be sure (any Jaguar users out there??). Tux Paint Stamps: http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~fuhrer/tuxpaint/ tuxpaintstamps-2005.11.27-macosx.dmg Regarding the Mac download page <http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ tuxpaint/download/macosx>, we can remove the note about Stuffit, since this is no longer required to open the files. We won't need the Tux Paint Config link anymore since this program is now part of the main Tux Paint package. > Apparently my font size change has completely broken the Japanese text > rendering. Other fonts seem okay (I tested Hindi, Hebrew, Korean, and > both Chinese modes). Interesting. The smaller font size works fine on the Mac build, so I'll leave it as is: http://www.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~fuhrer/tuxpaint/tuxpaint-japanese.jpg I'll commit a few Mac/XCode specific changes to CVS later today. Hmm... did you test it for Japanese yourself, too? I just grabbed the CVS with the TTF files I already had and it renders just fine. Did I not do something correctly? On a different note, can you add $Id$ tags to the source files? It'll help with tracking. Shin-ichi is having trouble subscribing to the tuxpaint-devel list for some reason, so I'm passing this along. (I'm also Cc'ing it to the SDL list.) Apparently my font size change has completely broken the Japanese text rendering. Other fonts seem okay (I tested Hindi, Hebrew, Korean, and both Chinese modes). See the screenshot: http://www.sonic.net/~nbs/tuxpaint-broken-ja.png As you can see, things seem to be getting rendered.... diagonally...? At slightly larger sizes, things were rendering okay, last we checked. Is this an SDL_ttf bug, a Freetype bug, or a problem/limitation of the font being used? D'oh! I wonder, why didn't the Georgian font (ka.ttf) get included in the main Tux Paint release (under "./fonts/locale/")? It's only ~60KB and is free. Perhaps the "all my fonts are free & redistributable" isn't a sufficient license? Or did we just forget to include it? -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |
