We could look at including this search field, especially if we have indexing enabled on the server. For traditional gettext projects this might not be so useful, but probably won't harm anyone. Lars, what is your opinion on this? My only concern is that we probably need a more powerful search form to avoid unnecessary matches from places where people are not interested. Ideally people should be able to specify search fields (source, target, notes, locations). There is a feature request in Bugzilla for enhancement of the search features like case awareness. pogrep already supports all of this. > Surely there must be a way of navigating straight back to a specific > string, then carrying on from there, rather than searching and just > getting all instances of the text that you have used as a query? > > Our translator wants to be able to finish translating in the middle of a > particular po file and then to get straight back to where he left off > without navigating through the entire file structure and paging through > the relevant .po file until he gets back to where he was. > > I'm using Pootle 1.1.0rc1, Translate Toolkit 1.1.1rc1. > > Thanks for any help > > Evan If you hover over rows of the translation on a normal translation page, an edit link will appear. Clicking it, or double clicking the cell, will take you to a page like this: http://pootle.locamotion.org/af/pootle/pootle.po?translate=1&item=24 This opens the page at that specific position, and this URL is portable to anybody (although your permission setup on the server will dictate what people can do when they get there). Another possibility is to use the hyperlink at the editing functions "quick translate" inside a specific directory of the OpenOffice.org structure, which will take the translator to the untranslated strings only in that project/directory. This link always stays the same, but if any strings are skipped, they have to be skipped each time. So these are two possibilities. I hope this helps! Keep well Friedel |
