Dear all, the OpenFlow project is now a bit spread out. I'm moving all the core=20 reference to the project to www.openflow.it The Zope and sourceforge pages will soon be containing only links to=20 www.openflow.it (even though OF will still use the sourceforge CVS). Hi, Using OpenFlow 0.7 I find there is a problem with dummy activities where multiple threads are joined (Join kind 'and'). The activity waits as required until all incoming transitions are signalled, but the dummy activity remains 'inactive'. I have to manage the workflow to activate and then complete the dummy activity, then the workflow continues as expected. Incidently, I find 90% of all join and split kinds should be 'xor'. Could you set that, rather than 'and', to be the default for new activities? Best wishes Peter |

The diference between sync and async is that in sync mode de calling
activity remains active while it is "running" the subprocess, while in
async mode it completes inmediatly (so the instance takes 2 paths, the
main workflow and the subprocess).

I report the following "bug":
by default, when you create an activity which is a subprocess, no
default value is assigned to subflow mode, although it seems (because you
see something in mode.
I suppose it is why this erros happens, the value returned by
[new_w] =3D instance.forwardWorkitem(workitem_id, [destination], process.g
etSubflowMode(activity_id))
is []

When there is no route in the Openflow, we have this not nice error (see
below)
I solved this in my cvs branch raising a "No Route" exception.
Uhm, I think it should be the same here. If an instance of a process has
no route to go, the activity should not be set autofinish. So this is an
error in the design of the workflow.
An error like "Workflow error. The process don't know what to do know (no
transitions to follow)" would be more convenient.
But where raise this exception ?
openflow.forwardWorkitem ?
openflow.getTransitionList ?
process.route ?
I think it is better in openflow.forwardWorkitem, do you agree ?

I had a different explanation of this from Daniele as follows: (sorry I forgot to copy my query that preceded it to the list) Auto/manual finish: In automatic finish mode as soon as a "completeWorkitem" API is called (supposedly by the activity application upon ending its work) the instance will be automatically forwarded to the next activity. In manual finish mode this will not be done and user (again, the activity application upon user input) will have to call the "forwardWorkitem" API. This enables the user to choose a given path (transition) for the instance to follow. So mainly this mode is reserved for manually steering the instance in alternative paths of the process. (Remeber that you can automatically steer the instance giving condition to transitions). -----Original Message----- From: en...@ic... [SMTP:en...@ic...] Sent: 01 March 2002 17:45 To: Ope...@li... This explains it, thanks.
I had split kind 'and', with the wrong assumption that the condition would take
priority. I now have 'xor' and it's working correctly.

What kind of gate has you activity ?
For this activity, What is the the value of "Workitem handling split
kind" ?
If it is and, it splits through all the paths, idenpently of the
condition. If it is xor, it goes only to one path, depending of the
condition.

What do you think about that in the Work List only appear the activities
with Inactive workitems or Active workitems ?

What kind of gate has you activity ?
For this activity, What is the the value of "Workitem handling split
kind" ?
If it is and, it splits through all the paths, idenpently of the
condition. If it is xor, it goes only to one path, depending of the
condition.

Hi, sometimes may happen that you need an explicit signal to be sure an action is terminated, is usefulin embedded environment or in presence of lot o 'manual' work, maybe it will not be useful for most of OpenFlow user but we've included this option for WfMC compatibility. =20 > _______________________________________________ > Openflow-dev mailing list > Ope...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/openflow-dev --=20 Vincenzo Di Somma - Responsabile Ricerca e Sviluppo - Icube S.r.l.
