OpenFlow 1.0.1 has been released.
Changes in this version:
- Removed some old base classes no longer needed
- Cleaned up the html here and there
- Added a description for the Purchase example
- Updated the documentation
- Renamed one of the extension files from environment.py to
process.py for coerency.
Moreover, there is a working example included.
Please note that apparently there is some problem working with Zope 2.3.0. I
am trying to fix this.
Many thanks in advance

Hi everyone, apparently there was some mistakes in the version of OpenFlow I have released. 1) There were two zexp in the ControlPanel directory, namely openflow.zexp and OpenFlow.zexp. You should use the latter. 2) The example is called WorkFlowExample.zexp 3) Apparently, the example cannot be imported. This is probably a permission problem, but I have to investigate further. I will keep you informed. Ciao Paolo -- Paolo Bizzarri Icube S.r.l. |

Hi everyone, after a long (really long) silence, I am pleased to announce the version 1.0 of the OpenFlow project. This work is largely the Master thesis of Clemente Rivetti, who ahs graduated here at Icube working on OpenFlow. You can download your latest version of OpenFlow at: http://download.sourceforge.net/openflow/openflow-1.0.tar.gz Paolo Bizzarri -- Paolo Bizzarri Icube S.r.l. |

Hi everyone, I'd like to know if someone is currently working in Openflow. If so, how can I join in? :-) or when can I expect a new release? :-| If the proyect's dead or post-poned for more than 6 months, can someone publish Openflow's information I wouldn't find in icube's or sourceforge's sites? (requirements, use cases diagrams, releases plans, what ever available) Txs, David PS: I assume most info is in Italian, pls send/publish it anyway "The future, whatever else it may be, is always infinitely, flagrantly, more peculiarly strange than the products of our imagination." The contract is for Scuola S. > > Anna of Pisa, > > that has already cooperated with us in the previous phase of OpenFlow. > > will these be using ZOPE? Python? > Most probably, yes. There is some interest inside AIPA for Java based solutions, but in this project we should be able to select the platform to use. The project will probably be called PA-Flow (Public Administration Flow). It will be hosted in the sourceforge site and it will provide two packages: - OpenFlow, which will be the workflow management system, - FreeDoc (or something like this) that will be the document management system. The PA project should officially start within a few days, and it will be completed in ten months. More news to come... Hi everybody, We have been very silently lately, and perhaps you were convinced that the OpenFlow project was dead and we have moved to something else. Obviously, this is utterly false. We have been discussing with Scuola Superiore S. Anna di Pisa, an academic institution, for working with them and working with AIPA, the authority for the IT in the public administration in Italy. Now, after so much effort, AIPA has agreed to give a contract for developing workflow tools and document management tools under an open licence scheme (the GPL was non expressely cited, but it was always used during informal discussion). The contract is for Scuola S. Anna of Pisa, that has already cooperated with us in the previous phase of OpenFlow. So this is a new and hopefully a better start. I will make you informed of more interesting things to come. Regards Paolo -- Paolo Bizzarri - Responsabile Marketing I3 Icube Srl Sede: Via Ridolfi 15 - 56124 Pisa (PI), Italia E-mail: p.b...@ic... I am not quite sure how much of this is 'in working condition' ... I've installed it before and it just appearred to be containers that hold specific types of objects. this is pre-pre-pre-Alpha ware. You _need_ ZOPE www.zope.org (application server) which openflow runs on top of. and it would be helpful if you knew Python programming language (really easy to learn) www.python.org . as far as the workflow management- I'm still wondering what the 'roadmap' is... I belive openflow to be a 'product' inside of ZOPE which will allow you to easily manipulate and create workflow (I think this qualifies as a 'framework'? ) I'm on the list to see the updates and the path it is taking. Andrea - if your not familiar with ZOPE, please download and take a look. really great application. george -----Original Message----- From: Andrea Domenici [mailto:an...@ss...] Sent: Friday, March 03, 2000 9:52 AM To: ope...@li... Ok, version 0.3 of the OpenFlow process repository is available. Things are beginning to become clearer as I add more code. Now you can build a pretty neat web site with your process and activities, navigate thorugh it and enjoy ! I am going to start the engine now. BTW, there is some work to be done to build the library to integrate with the OpenFlow repository and query the repository from external applications. Any volunteer ? Current version of OpenFlow are much more a sort of tracing bullets for the whole project: we have to see where we hit before deciding where to go. There is some documentation (in Italian) at www.icube.it/openflow, but it is not that much updated. A good starting point could be anyway the documentation inside the wfmc at www.wfmc.org. I don't know if there is someone that's not an italian, so I will write in english. Please let me know if I'm talking the wrong language :). But.. let me introduce myself: my name is Marco Meloni (as you see in the from:) and I'm a 23 years old student of electronical engineering in the university of Perugia. My interests are very various, though I have a particular one in computer science and related purposes. Anyway I'm wondering what can I do for the Openflow prj. I think I'm a very skilled documentation-writer, a c programmer, a not so skilled <any other language> programmer and so on. Also I'm a "not so bad" program analyst. I have Zope up and running with the last version of the repository. Is there any white-paper document describing what we will do and how? ciao, marco. -- A volte mi piacerebbe tornare indietro / la' dove e' rimasta la vita correre coi pattini sulle rive dell'oceano / giocare con lei finche' non sara' finita |

Hi everybody, I just want to discuss an idea for using OpenFlow right now, even if it is truly not that much complete. In Italy there is a law (number 241 of 1990) that is devoted towards transparency in the public administrations. Based on this law, each single PA has to provide a complete listing of all the procedures, with the indication of the deadline and the person in charge for the procedure itself. In this way a citizen can know: - how much time will be required to perform a certain thing from a PA (for example, obtaining a license); - with which he have to interact. Obviously, the usage of web is of utmost utility for such problems. OpenFlow (even in this form) can be a simple solution for building such a web site. I will go and demonstrate this thing. Hi to everybody. I have started using the repository for creating the representative business model, contained in the tc-1016-X of the Wokflow Management Coalition. I have found some glitches that I am fixing on the way. Hopefully, I could produce a 0.3 version within Monday. As far as I can see the following things should be added: - some form of navigation in the workflow model (through the web interface); - a set of checks for the creation of the objects. Work for the next few days.... Regards Paolo -- Paolo Bizzarri - Responsabile Marketing I3 Icube Srl Sede: Via Ridolfi 15 - 56124 Pisa (PI), Italia E-mail: p.b...@ic... Hi to everyboy, OpenFlow Repository 0.2 has been released. With respect to the 0.1 version it adds many attributes and corresponding propertysheets to the entities defined (Process, Activity and so on). Usability for any practical purpouse is anyway limited, so this release should be seen as an alpha version. Future directions will include giving a more friendly interface to the Repository, and possibily starting the implementation of the API as specified by the WfMG documents. I will try to mantain this list active with at least a message every day.
