LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) is a complete suite for digital music-production under Linux. It provides software-synthesizers, samples, full MIDI-support, FX-mixer, event-automation and much more.

LMMS 0.4.0 RC1 fixes all bugs found in 0.4.0 Beta2 and adds various small new features.

* win32 build with latest GCC 4.3.2
* introduced remotePlugin framework for allowing various special plugins to be built and usable for all platforms
* added VST support for win32-version
* added PAPU instrument (for chiptune music)
* added PortAudio support (currently only on Linux)
* added initial simple support for recording into sample-tracks (currently only supported on Linux)
* added support for directly entering triplet notes
* added basic support for deleting controllers (only peakController isn't handled yet)
* improved and unified appearence of user interface
* improved filebrowser for not crashing at preview anymore and handle more filetypes for previewing (such as SF2 files etc.)
* fixed broken WinMM MIDI driver in win32-version
* fixed MIDI output which didn't work at all in beta2
* fixed freeze when adding BB-tracks
* properly save and restore position, size, visibility and state of subwindows
* save LADSPA effect filenames without extension and add correct one (depending on platform built for) when loading settings - fixes missing effects when loading songs in Windows which were made in Linux and vice versa
* improved internal handling of MIDI messages
* fixed clicks and pops in SID instrument
* improved Piano-Roll paste behavior - instead of pasting at 0, paste at the quantized location of the time-line's position-indicator
* fixed crashes related to adding/removing items in Song Editor
* added better information on how to build VST support on x86_64 Linux

* Patman instrument: per default enable loop mode per default and apply soft release at the end
