If that's what fixed it, it was broken in a way that had nothing to do
with epslatex terminal. You simply didn't close the output file ('unset
output') when you should have.

Actually, the aqua terminal terminal should have *nothing* on it, from
what you wrote. You seem to have forgotten to mention that there also
is a 'replot' after the 'set term aqua'. And it's perfectly normal and
expected that this will only give you the second part of your multiplot.
This could have been a whole lot less confusing if you had shown your
plot script.

You didn't *see* anything happen, but that doesn't mean nothing did. There's nothing wrong in what you described you did. That means the problem is in something you didn't show. |

Hello, I don't know if you can help me but I hope so. I try to use wgnuplot with the Penelope program, I followed the instructi= ons given by the tutorial for Penelope but nothing happens. To run my file which is a .gnu I have to type wgnuplot tables.gnu in a DO= S command and when I do it nothing happens, I can just have the invit to ta= pe another command. I don't understand why? Could you help me to understand ? Does Gnuplot wo= rk with .gnu, if yes how ? what I have to do to run gnuplot with this extension ? Thank you by advance for your answer, Cordially, Anne Besnard --=20 |

Upgrading to 4.2 is unnecessary - and actually gave me weird epslatex latex code that i couldn't compile without deleting reams of information! (gnuplot 4.0.0 gave a much simpler .tex file part). So what was needed (after 5+ hours of playing about) was a "pause -1" command after the first plot, then the commands for the second plot... I load all the commands into the terminal from a foo.gp file with a command to set the terminal to aqua at the end, so that I can see the output. Weirdly, the aqua terminal has only the 2nd plot when the epslatex output includes both plots. It is necessary to reset the terminal between each loading of the foo.gp to prevent getting the aqua style (2nd graph) output in subsequent epslatex output files. What I have learned is that you can't predict one terminal's output by looking at another's. Hope this may be helpful for others in the future! For some strange reason, Mandriva decided to distribute a binary package of gnuplot-4.0 that doesn't work in the default setting of their distribution. There's nothing we, the gnuplot maintainers, can do about that. It's Mandriva who have to fix this. |

Hi, I'm using Gnuplot 4.0.0 on MacOS X.4.8, and TeXShop. My problem is regarding multiplot output in epslatex term. I am trying to stack two plots sharing a common x axis. I can output the LaTeX code and the eps file as usual (i.e. as with non- multiplots). I can also successfully multiplot in aqua term, so I know the plot is fine, but I cannot incorporate correctly into LaTeX. Only the second of the two plots is included in the LaTeX document; and sure enough the LaTeX conversion from eps to pdf lacks the first plot. So I have axis, but only half of my plot. The weird thing is is that the eps file is complete, and I can convert the eps to a pdf manually and still see both parts of the plot (although this then doesn't sit properly if I include it in my document). So, what's happening here? And more importantly, what can I do to fix it? Thanks, Jonathan Fay Dept. of Chemistry University of Durham South Road Durham DH1 3LE +44 (0)191 3342055 |

Hi Gnuplot, I suspect this is a straight forward question but I cannot seem to find a solution from the various forums. I have downloaded and installed Gnuplot version 4 to my Windows XP machine. I have downlaoded the GD Library from http://www.boutell.com/gd/ but am having trouble printing or generating images (gif, png or any type!). I have extracted the gdwin32 folder from www.boutell.com into my gnuplot/bin. Is this the correct way to install the gd library? What am I doing wrong? Use contour, and if you really need it in a 2D plot, see 'help table' for how to save the result of 'set contour' isocurve extraction to a file you can use in a 2D plot. |

Hi,
I'd like to plot level sets of
Q = min(x**2, 2*y)
for Q = 2 and Q = 4.
What's the best way to do this? I cannot really turn the equation into
a function of either x or y. My ideas are: Using splot's contour
feature (but I'd rather like to use "plot"), and turning the equation
into a parametric function, which seems pretty ugly and non-universal.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Felix

If I've understood you correctly, then the best you can probably do is use = set xrange, yrange and zrange to scale the data with respect to the axis an= d set size to scale your plot. You can also use set view 60,30,1., 1.5 for = example and elongate or squash the plot. =0A=0AThe problem seems to be that= even if you get it to look right in one terminal (i.e. on the screen) when= you output it with another terminal (e.g., postscript) then it might not l= ook right again. =0A=0AI'm afraid its a bit of a black art.=0A=0AGavin.=0A= =0A=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A |

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, "set size ratio -1" only keeps the scales of x and z for a 3D plot (length and height), but not the y-axis (width). If there is indeed no technique to make an isometric graph with gnuplot, I'll have to use Matlab or other visualization software for this application then... Thank you, sophia Hans-Bernhard Bröker <br...@ph...> wrote: Sophia Tang wrote: > Could you please tell me how to set in gnuplot so that it does not > autoscale, Autoscaling has nothing to do with this. > but plots the x, y, and z with the same unit length? 'set size ratio -1' is the best you'll get. --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business. |
