You don't really say, so I'll assume you're using X11 as your terminal driver. See "help x11" in gnuplot (or "man gnuplot" from the outside) to learn about the ways to control the colours used by gnuplot's X11 output. |

do you have an entry like gnuplot*background: gray in your ~/.Xdefaults file? Hello, im really new to Gnuplot, so my problem is probabely easy to solve. I did alot of searches in Google, found this forum, searched here...no solution for me yet. My problem is: I got a data file which looks like this: blib 4 73 ble 52 2 blu 6 236 bla 63 236 bla2 2 63 3 "fields" per line (seperating them with ";" doesnt work in my old gnuplot version..at least it doesnt know the set datafile separator command...so I use spaces). what I want is: first field is the xrange, which should be shown below the x-axis second and third fields are the y coords for two curves plot 'file.dat' using 2 t 'curve 1', \ plot 'file.dat' using 3 t 'curve 2' works to print the curves, but how do I get gnuplot to read the xrange from my file? Also, lets assume the data file is quite large with lets say 1000 lines, is there a way to print the graph to a file which is automatically scaled in a way, that every x-value is shown? Thank you in advance Fred -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Problem-getting-xrange-values-from-a-file-tf4697256.html#a13426977 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi. I'm using gnuplot 4.0 patchlevel 0, and running into a problem.
When running, I get an error message:
gnuplot> plot 'g.csv' using 1:2 title 'Series1' with lines 2, '' using 1:3
title 'Series 2' with lines 3
^
"g.pcmd", line 12: all points y value undefined!
This is because all of the data values happen to be zero for this particular
graph
My source data is:
20071022_133502,0,0
20071022_135003,0,0
20071022_140502,0,0
20071022_142008,0,0
and I'm running gnuplot with:
set terminal png small
set timestamp
set datafile separator ","
set output 'g.png'
set ylabel "YY"
set format y "%.0f"
set xdata time
set timefmt "%Y%m%d_%H%M%S"
set format x "%b %d\n%H:%M"
set logscale y
set title "Title"
plot 'g.csv' using 1:2 title 'Series1' with lines 2, '' using 1:3 title
'Series 2' with lines 3
What can be done to allow this to work when all of the data points are the
same?
If they're all the same value but non-zero, gnuplot only gives a warning;
Warning: empty y range [1:1], adjusting to [0.99:1.01]
Thanks,
Jeff

Dear Sir/Madam, Does Gnuplot have a style similar to candlesticks, but horizontal (not vertical)? I have a probability distribution of , say, parameter X and would like to plot its 15%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 85% percentiles as a function of altitude (ie, y-axis). In this case, candlesticks should be horizontal. Style xyerrorbars does not work well since these percentiles are not symmetrical with respect to its median value. Thanks for your answer.=20 Mikhail Y. Danilin |

In the case at hand, I'd advise to double-check environment and gnuplot commands (inluding a possible ~/.gnuplotrc) for settings that cause the C library to expect ',' instead of '.' as a decimal separator. See "help set decimalsign". |

Hello! Using gnuplot quite some time now, I ran into a problem I never had befor. If I want to plot the coordinates of my gpslogger or the hight gnuplot disgards the digits after the floatingpoint. Why's that? How can I change this behavior. The data looks like the sample on the bottom. I plot it with "plot 'log03' u 1:2 w l" or "plot 'log03 u 3 w l" but the first give the message: Warning: empty x range [47:47], adjusting to [46.53:47.47] Warning: empty y range [12:12], adjusting to [11.88:12.12] and draws only one point. With the hights it works but the points are only integer values. Possible reasons include broken X servers, version mixups between gnuplot and x11, and genuine communication errors along the X11 protocol's data path. |

for a 40x40 matrix: set xrange [0.5:40.5] set yrange [0.5:40.5] set pm3d map set dgrid3d 40,40 splot 'datafile' because gnuplot has to fill an internal matrix the splot-command takes some time, because some data weighting is done. it would be better to produce a matrix data file (see 'help matrix') before using gnuplot, then no 'dgrid3d' would be necessary. melysion wrote: > > Hi there > > I've only just come across gnuplot and it all seems excellent so far. > > I have a plot to do and I was wondering whether gnuplot would be a good > piece of software to do it. a few questions: - assuming you are using x11 as terminal, was the plot displayed properly? - did you close then plot window by hand? - or did the plot window appear only for a short moment? - is the x-server running on the same computer gnuplot is running? - if not, how did you connect to the other computer (telnet, ssh, ...)? Hello
Just wondering if you might be able to help with an error message that
is coming up after typing in the command plot 'filename' using 1:2 with
lines? The error message is below:-
gnuplot> plot 'cancerb4b3f_p1.out' using 1:2 with lines
gnuplot> XIO: fatal IO error 131 (Connection reset by peer) on X server
"134.7.14.69:0.0"
after 2675 requests (2610 known processed) with 0 events
remaining.
I'm not sure what this means and thought you might be able to help.
Thanks heaps.
