    Hi
There was a windows patch yesterday, and today the EqApo no longer works in my 5.1 configuration.
Installed the latest Realtek drivers from the motherboard manufacturer (July version), and everything works fine. Once I check the "speaker fill" option in the Realtek Console I have sound in my rear speakers.
Once I install the EqApo, I get nothing from my rear speakers.
I ran again the configurator with pre/post mix and experimental on my speakers (default device). Nothing.
Reinstalled Eq Apo and Peace, still nothing.
Peace works fine, but no rear speaker sound.
EqApo Configuration Editor has 5.1 (default) selected on my default speakers.

I am a noob when it comes to this, but..What Can I do? Please help

Solved...finally. I only selected post-mix/Experimental in the configurator. Apparently there is a conflict with the latest drivers realtek "speaker fill" option and EqApo in the pre-mix.

As Equalizer APO tries to have the APO's (sound enhancements) of the audio device active, both on the pre-mix and post-mix line, it could be that one of both of these APO's aren't working any longer. So your solution is a good one: By not installing Equalizer APO on the pre-mix line the APO continues to work as before. Besides, by default Equalizer APO works on the post-mix line anyway.

I have the same problem after updating to Windows 10 august'22 update. I do not have new Realtek drivers installed. EqualizerAPO does not work on both sound cards I have.

And have you tried the several "Install as" options like SFX/MFX?

Stopped working for me also - focusrite soundcard. PLS help :-)

    (but I don't run 5.1 - just stereo)

I uninstalled APO and reinstalled it, and no changes.

Hi there. I tested with Install as SFX/MFX on both devices and still no changes. I also tried Install original APO on post-mix on both but also no success..

    Hello everyone,

I've just installed this latest patch a few hours ago, and like everyone else here, found multiple reinstalls of eq apo, installing only on post-mix vs both pre and post, and trying SFX/MFX instead of SFX/EFX to all not work, and eq apo/peace eq continued to fail to work for me.

Strangely enough, my last thought was to try installing as LFX/GFX, as this option has not worked for years (since from what I've seen it is meant for older windows versions), and this worked for both installing only on post-mix and for both pre and post. I would give this a try and see if it works!

this did the trick it works now - so we use LFX/GFX for now :-)
      thank you for investigating! @AraSanji

Reading the posts it seems that Microsoft has pulled out the ancient (Windows Vista) LFX/GFX again. They did this for Windows 11 but perhaps now for Windows 10. Anyway, at least give it a try. Note that for some next update the modern SFX/EFX and/or SFX/MFX might be working again.

hey, just this morning i installed the windows update and i did the usual reinstallation of both equalizer APO and peace. should i reinstall with LFX/GFX settings in the troubleshooting window just to be safe? after i reinstalled, i was able to tell audio difference with adjusting pre-amp and adjusting frequencies but it sounded a bit quieter. i might be deaf but just wanted to be sure.

Same here. I usually have the pre-amp set anywhere between -2 and +2, but I've had to turn off clipping prevention and boost it up to +20 just to be able to hear anything. It works, but it's kind of annoying and if I turn on the "prevent clipping" option in Peace, it'll drop the pre-amp automatically to +4 or +5 'cause the signal is apparently much stronger than the volume I'm actually getting.

This fixed the issue for me.

Note that I bumped my head against the wall for a few hours and could not get anything working, until I check my base EqAPO config (input + Peace + Hesuvi). There it turned out the playback device was set to a non-existing output device, probably caused by me reinstalling VB-audio cable (needed for Hesuvi) in my journey to fixing the issue.

It is a bit of a niche issue I had, but if EqAPO seems to be not working at all whatever you do this might be worth a quick check in your base EqAPO config. You can launch that from the EqAPO folder using the Editor application.

Sorry guys! I did a bit more checking and discovered that the devices had gotten new ID's and then they wouldn't work. So this was not related to a big change in Windows after all. So sorry for not checking through. I just had forgotten how APO worked. My setup: https://i.imgur.com/rkx9sAG.png so the devices could maybe be moved to this front screen or Editor could warn us that there are missing devices when we open Editor to prevent noobs like me from alerting incorrectly? :)

I think I had the same issue then. EqAPO was referring to an non-existing audio device. I could only see the error when opening the Editor, all else looked fine.

So now my Equalizer APO works fine.
