Improved: On Windows 8.1 and newer, installation as SFX/EFX is now the default. This should remove the need to use the troubleshooting options for most users.

Improved: Updated to Visual Studio 2019 and Qt 5.15.2. Running Equalizer APO requires Universal CRT now, which means that Windows versions before 10 may need additional Windows updates or the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 - 2019 needs to be installed (installer provides assistance).

A simple way to use multiple collections of settings in Configuration Editor is to have multiple Include commands that you just toggle as needed:

This sounds as if Equalizer APO was not uninstalled properly, so that some device still has the APO registration while there's no corresponding entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EqualizerAPO\Child APOs. Please try to export the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\MMDevices\Audio to a .reg file and attach it to this thread.

    1) For me this sounds as if the file notifications are only working once. Make sure that you really call FindFirstChangeNotification and later FindNextChangeNotification with WaitForMultipleObjects in between. The code in notificationThread is much more complex than you need it for an initial implementation. Start with a minimal example like this and make sure that you run it in a separate thread: HANDLE notificationHandle = FindFirstChangeNotificationW(path, true, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_FILE_NAME |...

You said The Pre-Amp and the Graphic Equalizer works as intended, but they do not bring their fullest, and in short they are still quiet. so Equalizer APO is working. The remaining problem might be caused by the audio driver or Windows itself, maybe there is some limiter working. Equalizer APO can not fix this, so no update is needed. You could try different driver versions or have a look into the device settings.

Please try "Install as SFX/EFX" in Configurator.
