My interpretation is that (if you have the option checked) it will also mute the currently selected "input" device, correct? It mutes the device selected on the Listen tab of the recording device, the so-called 'Play through this device' assuming the virtual cable is always routed to the output device in the recording (input) devices section. It's a neat trick to mute this output device as it can be selected over there as Peace doesn't have to know what the actual output device is. It just reads...

As I've never had this issue myself I don't know how to solve it properly. And unfortunately the developer of Equalizer APO hasn't addressed this issue. For issues related to Equalizer APO I've made an Equalizer APO issue solver. It solves plenty but not this specific audio devices issue. Still, you might run it just to see what it detects. And have you run the cleaners I suggested?

Do you think it gets enabled again? Btw. As CAudioLimiter is an APO it might automatically be installed on all output devices. Also, this APO should be removed completely (well at least unregistered) from the registry. And at any Windows update it may be registered/installed again.

I've created another beta (version 1.7.0.4). It now supports the usage of a virtual cable. So at a forced muting event, besides the virtual cable, the actual output device can also be forced muted. For this a new checkbox is present on the Forced muting interface. As a bonus there's also a output device volume slider as many virtual cables don't have volume control. A second bonus is the easy access to change the actual output device by clicking the 'Playback' button.

That's what I was afraid about.

AI got a few things mixed up, I'm afraid. Disabling the CAudioLimiter creates distortion by clipping hence its function of trying to mitigate this distortion. But it does this badly as AI tries to point out. But this effect of volume drops only becomes worse when having a high gain. For minor gain amplification it works quite nicely. Windows usually don't have to deal with high gain amplifications of 20 dB of higher. It isn't only about bypassing CAudioLimiter with Equalizer APO (this is probably...

Also, I noticed that there is absolutely no such effect if EqualizerAPO is off, even when the volume is high or fluctuates. Of course it does. But it isn't the volume that fluctuates. It's the gain of the sound after having a high gain amplification, either by pre amp or by EQ-ing. If you lower this to a point that the gain only reaches 0 dB then everything is the same when not having Equalizer APO engaged. I explain this in this Peace YouTube tutorial. Btw. Peace is the most popular interface for...

The audio enhancements must be enabled else all Audio Processing Objects are bypassed (audio enhancements are APO's). So Equalizer APO needs what all APO's need, the enabling of this setting. But I'm not sure why this setting is automatically enabled. Perhaps Equalizer APO's Device Selector and Configuration Editor do this at their checking of the audio devices.
