Edit: Issue solved. Lenovo had Dolby sound enhancement software installed. I deinstalled it, but the audio enhancement setting stuck and couldn't be changed anymore. That prevented Equalizer APO from working properly.
Reinstalling Dolby software and deactivating the audio enhancement made E-APO work.
