Hi, I would like to know how do you update to a newer version. Do you have to uninstall the old and install the new version or can you just swap the exe/dll file or something?
Thanks for any info :)

The developer has said that it's simply installing the new Equalizer APO update onto the currently installed one. On the other hand, I would do a cycle of uninstall and install as this isn't hard to do. Replacing old files with new ones can be hard to do as one has to know what has been changed. But I guess it's also a way to go.

In that case you could check the release notes mentioned over here (scroll down). For instance, going from 1.4/1.4.1 to 1.4.2 might be suffice by replacing equalizerapo.dll (the audio manipulation engine, the actual APO).

According to the release notes I don't see why 1.4.2 is any better than 1.3.2. Most work is done on the Equalizer APO apps. But I guess you could try to swap the engine equalizerapo.dll although I'm not sure how to do this as this file might be locked for deletion. For convenience I've attached this 1.4.2 file.
Yeah I also don't understand why it's like this.
Could you maybe try this VST2 and see if it actually works? This would confirm that indeed there has changed something to make it work.
On my laptop it works. I took the DeepFilterNet.dll from the VST sub folder of the zip file (as the VST 3 can't work) and put it in c:\program files\equalizerapo\vstplugins (as this is usually needed for a VST plugin to work). By running this noise generator it successfully suppress the generated noise. I've currently 1.4.2 installed.
There's the obvious caveat. I don't know if this plugin needs a license. If so, it may stop working after a while. I'm guessing you're aware of getting to a license by a plugin due to Equalizer APO's engine running in the Windows audio service.

Okay, because I have already everything setup and I don't want to mess it up with an update.

I'm now at 1.3.2 and the reason I want/need to upgrade is because the VST2 deep filter net is crashing EQ-APO, and someone mentioned that this works on the latest 1.4.2 version.
