A new day :) Hi Adam, I went to /etc/webmin/dansguardian and I only have the config file there. So, I should be using the Defaults...correct? ksa...@wi... wrote: > Sure...but, there isn't anything special. > > Ken Everything looks good there. Try manually editing your username.acl file in /etc/webmin/dansguardian and change the *list=0 variables to 1. You could also change the editconf to 1 as well. That should let you get to most anything. If you see anything that doesn't have a number after it, put a 1. Then you at least have access =) OR you could remove your username.acl file. That will cause webmin to use the module defaults for access, which by default is to allow everything. |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Greetings everyone. I'd like to bring everyone up to date on whats going on with the webmin module. First, I am glad to announce that there are 4 people besides myself that are interested and anxious to help out. I would like to personally thank those individuals for their aid in this project. It's going to be fun and very rewarding getting this module pushing forward. Secondly, I want to thank the community for their support, feedback, use of the module, and patience while I get things in order. * Version Information The modules next version will be 0.7.0. This version is going to be a ground-up re-write of the module. It has gotten so big and complex that it's hard for me to maintain by myself. That in mind, with the other developers coming on board I would like to just start from scratch. We are gathering information on what YOU would like to see in the module. So here is your chance! Respond back to the mailing list so everyone can see the already requested features to try and limit duplicates. * Upcoming features for the rewrite Here is a list of features we are definately going to implement: - - Full DansGuardian 2.8 support - - Full DansGuardian AntiVirus plugin support - - Full DansGuardian Google plugin support - - New Log reporting center with SQL support - - Serious facelift for all aspects of the modules look and feel * Log Report Center The Log reporting center will offer analysis of the standard DG logging methods, as well as offering SQL support. The SQL support will work in conjuction with a daemon that watches the DansGuardian log file and posts the data to an SQL database. If you have ideas for organization of the database, table names/sizes/types or if you already have something like this working please let us know. A Daemon written in C or a patch right into DansGuardian would be ideal. What about other databases? We will probably aim towards MySQL for now with support for Postgres down the road. Are there any others that would be good to include? * Look and Feel Design and how the thing looks is also a field I would appreciate some feedback on. I'm no graphics design guy, and it shows. If you would like to contribute icons, a nice layout, or anything for the general "look and feel" of the module, please please let us know. I'm open to all suggestions. * Module Website The module needs some kind of website with screenshots, FAQ, howto's etc. It also needs the general information about installation, support methods, and CVS info. * Others What other features would you all like to see? Are you willing to help out with any? I would like to get someone involved in creating and maintenance of a module website as well. I appologize if someone has submitted a patch or anything for module versions 0.5.10-pr4 and below. With this new ground-up rewrite going on I don't want to import older code. If you are interested in helping or you have ideas for anything above please respond to the list!. Thanks again everyone! - -- Northern Indiana ESC Adam Kennedy - ake...@ni... Hello everybody, This is my first post on the list. I have been using the Dansguardian webmin module for a long time now. It's a great module that eases configuration tasks very much. But the best part is the log-file viewer. This is the best I have seen so far. Great job! I thought I would share some short-comings I face while using the log-file viewer. Who knows if others approve we might have it in the nxt few releases or so. Here they are: - Ability to select time along with date. - Ability to mention subnets in the IP address field. For instance, 10.0.100.0/24. - Use of wildcards while searching for URL. Ex, *.edu Let me know what do you think of it. Thank you, Deepak Seshadri |

The time has come to decide a few things with the webmin module, and I need feedback from the community. These items will reflect Module releases starting with the next one. Adam,
This is one sweet piece of work. WOW!!!!! I have no idea if the log analyzer
is new to this version but very very nice. Everything that I tried to use
seems to work without a hitch.
Love It!!!!
Thanks for your help.

Version 0.5.10-pr2 of the module was released a little over a week ago, but I haven't recevied any good/bad feedback about it. So, if you have downloaded the module, please toss me an email with your comments on any features you would like to see, or ones that have been implemented that work right or don't work right, etc. If you haven't downloaded the module yet, please do!
