This email is to inform you of release '1.9.7' of 'grsecurity' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/grsecurity/ The changes in this release are as follows: A segmentation-based implementation of PaX was included, which provides all the benefits of the page-based implementation and improved performance. Process-based resource restrictions and IP ACLs were added to the ACL system, which is now more stable and faster and contains a feature to stop brute-force exploits and log the IP of the attacker. Kernel stack randomization was added, and Gradm, grsecurity's ACL administration utility, was updated to v1.5. Project description: grsecurity is a complete security system for Linux 2.4 that implements a detection/prevention/containment strategy. It prevents most forms of address space modification, confines programs with least privilege via its process-based ACL system, hardens syscalls, and provides many of the OpenBSD randomness features. It has auditing capabilities and a netfilter module designed to thwart portscans and OS fingerprinting. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. Hi!
I was pleased to see the new menuconfig with sub menus but was fed
up with some of it's feature (or bugs, whatever you like best), so
I couldn't resist and updated the menuconfig stuff a little bit.
Files touched:
build/
CHANGES
scripts/
build.sh
functions
menuconfig
settings
lxdialog/
lxdialog.c
menubox.c
dialog.h
CVS checkout or update and have fun :-)
PS: The main work was done on the main branch. On the rel-0-5-patches
branch there's just a small cosmetic change to the menuconfig stuff.

Project description: The Berkeley Database (Berkeley DB) is a programmatic toolkit that provides embedded database support for both traditional and client/server applications. Berkeley DB includes b+tree, queue, extended linear hashing, fixed, and variable-length record access methods, transactions, locking, logging, shared memory caching and database recovery. This email is to inform you of release '0.60.4' of 'BusyBox' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/busybox/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release adds lots of bugfixes. Project description: BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable. It provides minimalist replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts. Hi, Three versions of eLSD are available at http://www.thinman.com/eLSD The first is a faithful release of Devil-Linux with a simplified build and burn kit. The second is a modified Devil-Linux where the initrd/linuxrc and init/boot files have been changed to make these two components more independant of each other. Also, no configuraton floppy is necessary, that can be created after the boot. The third is a hard drive version where an eLSD/Devil-Linux root file system has been turned into an iso image containing a root system tar file. Cdrecord has been implemented here within the kernel and a variety of initrd and grub and parted tools are available. ======================= From the Readme ======================= eLSD v0.1 Build kit directly from Devil Linux * Also included is dl_build which was the first build kit derived from Heiko's scripts eLSD v0.2 First true eLSD, major changes to the linuxrc and init.d/boot files * Does not require a boot floppy - Builds a boot floppy w/ save-config eLSD v0.3a EXPERIMENTAL hard drive version designed to burn eLSD/Devil-Linux CDs. ## I created all of these tools to stimulate growth in the area ## of Linux OS development which I believe has stagnated * Initrd w/ new busybox/tinylogin tools which works independantly - Your /boot partition is in control of the system * Initrd that boots to the DL derived hard drive eLSD OS - this allows and FSCK of the root file system w/o mounting it * Gnu/grub boot floppy that has a kernel but no OS - Make the boot disk bootable, no tutorial * Gnu/parted floppies which has a full OS but no grub :( - First step in dist'n linux, includes text tutorial * New kernel which supports CDRECORD w/o append lines in boot process so that DL/eLSD can burn DL/eLSD from the CD boot ===== John van Vlaanderen ################################################# # CXN, Inc. This email is to inform you of release '1.1.11-20020917' of 'Postfix' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/postfix/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version speeds up regexp table lookups by optimizing for the actual $number substitutions that are found in the replacement string, and by enclosing blocks of rules inside `IF /pattern/' and `ENDIF'. The handling of DNS lookup errors in permit_mx_backup, reject_unknown_hostname, reject_unknown_sender_domain, and reject_unknown_recipient_domain have been delayed. The "smtpd_data_restrictions = reject_unauth_pipelining" setting now rejects mail from SMTP clients that send message content before the SMTP DATA command has been replied to. Project description: Postfix is an attempt to provide an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and hopefully secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset your users. This email is to inform you of release '1.1.0' of 'Linux Virtual Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/linuxvirtualserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release adds a new protocol load balancing support model and AH/ESP load balancing support, revisions for all the data structures exchanged between the IPVS kernel module and userspace program, connection threshold support, changes to work on the Linux kernel 2.5.xx, code cleanup, and ipvsadm updates. Project description: The Linux Virtual Server Project is an Open Source project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server. The LVS handles connections from clients and passes them on the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing the virtual service. Does it come as a loadable module ?? That way there would be no investment in the kernel if any aspects of it dont work. Also; cdrecord kernel, initrd, busybox/tinylogin, inital boot w/o floppy, grub boot disk, parted boot disk, DL/eLSD hard drive, and other material coming monday. Out sailing today, forgive the attachment ;) John --- Heiko Zuerker <he...@zu...> wrote: > On Sat, 14 Sep 2002 19:05:28 +0200 > "Friedrich Lobenstock" <fl...@fl...> wrote: > > > Might that be something we need in DL? > > > > > > Linux Stealth By Sean Trifero & Derek Callaway > > > > Linux kernel patch which discards packets that many OS detection > > tools use to query the TCP/IP stack. Otherwise yes your right that we'd better do it in scripts. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock FL226-RIPE Internetservices URL: http://www.fl.priv.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |
