About Google Tasks
Google Tasks is a task management and productivity platform designed to help users capture, organize, and track personal and professional to-dos directly within Google Workspace applications. The platform integrates seamlessly with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Chat, and Google Docs, allowing users to create and manage tasks without leaving the apps they use daily. Google Tasks helps users stay organized with features such as reminders, recurring tasks, task prioritization, starred items, and categorized task lists for different projects or responsibilities. Tasks with assigned dates and times automatically appear in Google Calendar, helping users schedule work sessions, block focus time, and stay on top of deadlines. The platform also supports synchronization across devices, enabling users to manage tasks from desktops, smartphones, and tablets while keeping updates consistent in real time.

"Finding it strange that Googs doesn't make this better" Posted 2021-08-13
Pros: It started off with promise. You can create tasks with notes and subpoints for the tasks, and it is incorporated into gmail as well.
Cons: The user interface has changed often throughout the years but it was always better to find a 3rd party service to deliver a better user interface. Over time, it found itself lacking features that other task programs do.
Overall: Just because something is incorporated into the Google ecosystem doesn't automatically make it polished and Tasks is an excellent example of this.

"Definitely not the best phone app for google" Posted 2021-04-01
Pros: Cloud connection. simple (some to do apps are overly complex, making them cludgy to use in practice).
Cons: The 3rd party phone app gtasks is the only reason I still use google tasks at all. Google broke their web version by getting rid of canvas and eliminating nesting. And their web version (and phone version) have limited sorting capability (no alphabetical, despite being repeatedly requested).
Overall: I would suggest gtasks instead.→ very quick to voice add to a task list (as in hit the mic button and say "2.0 eggs"), alphabetical sorting is possible (I start my grocery entries with a number for the store section), and quick movement between lists by swiping left/right. I've moved more complex tasks (project/work management) to (paid) Todoist, but still use google for my grocery list (but only because of the useful features of a google-syncing phone app that is NOT this one).

"Extremely underwhelming compared to everything out there" Posted 2020-11-18
Pros: Since this is a Google app, naturally it can be integrated with other Google apps like Gmail. If you're using a lot of Google products, this can make things a lot easier for you. Creating lists and tasks is very easy. There's 3 themes available; light, dark, and a battery-saving theme, which is something I haven't seen many apps bother to include.
Cons: There's not much you can do with this beyond sync it with other Google products. It's really, really simplistic to the point I was just left wondering, that's it? For it being an official Google product, I expected it to be a lot more than what it is.
Overall: It's not got any obvious issues with it and it does sync with all your other Google products, but it leaves me so completely underwhelmed compared to other to do list apps out there. It's too basic. While it visually looks polished, it feels incomplete. I do like that it automatically recognizes all my accounts already set up on my phone without me having to log in and I can switch between them, but it just doesn't offer enough for this to be a go to app for me.
