About

SecureDesk is a self-hosted remote support and device management platform for Windows environments, built so the operator's own infrastructure, not a third-party cloud sits in the middle of every session. It supports two connection modes: attended sessions for real-time, on-demand remote assistance where the end user is present to approve the connection, and unattended access for managing devices that aren't actively staffed, such as servers or kiosks. For deeper troubleshooting, technicians can drop into a SYSTEM-level shell to run administrative commands directly on the endpoint. The core of its design is the encryption model: both the technician's console and the remote endpoint generate their own AES-256-GCM keys, and endpoints connect outbound-only. The self-hosted relay that brokers each session only ever forwards ciphertext it holds no key for, so even the relay operator can't see or decrypt session content.

About

Splashtop Remote Support is a remote support and endpoint management solution designed to help IT teams securely access, troubleshoot, and manage computers and mobile devices from anywhere. The platform provides attended and unattended remote access for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android devices through fast and reliable remote desktop connections. Splashtop includes features such as session code-based support, remote control, chat, voice calls, session reboot and reconnect, admin privilege elevation, and multi-technician collaboration for efficient troubleshooting workflows. The platform also offers autonomous endpoint management capabilities including real-time patch management, device monitoring, software deployment, vulnerability insights, and centralized endpoint visibility. Splashtop integrates with popular PSA ticketing and ITSM tools such as Zendesk, Jira, Freshservice, Microsoft Teams, and Freshdesk to streamline IT support operations.

Audience

IT support teams, help desks, and managed service providers (MSPs) responsible for Windows environments — anyone doing remote troubleshooting or device management who wants to avoid routing session data through a third-party cloud. It's a strong fit for organizations in privacy- and compliance-sensitive industries (healthcare, finance, legal, government) where visibility into remote-support traffic is a real security concern, since the relay itself can't decrypt session content. It also suits solo technicians and small IT shops via the free tier (one technician, three devices), as well as larger teams needing unattended access to unstaffed devices like servers and kiosks.

Audience

Splashtop Remote Support is designed for IT teams, managed service providers, help desks, enterprises, remote workers, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and businesses that need secure remote access, endpoint management, and scalable IT support solutions

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I do like what it is meant to do. The software is absolutely solid, and once you get it up and running, it's great.
  • Integrates perfectly with Ninga RMM. Low latency high quality video streaming for remote support. Affordable pricing.
  • Splashtop Remote Support is a fantastic remote support tool. It's fairly lightweight, all of the features work as intended, and the program is easy to operate. We selected Splashtop because of its pricing structure for unlimited technicians.
  • I transitioned my company to SplashTop from GoToAssist and have never looked back. We pushed the agent out via PDQ Deploy and install package was easy to setup and deploy.

Cons

  • I had difficulty getting installed on my devices.
  • Development team is sometimes hard to get ahold of.
  • The limitation of a single connection to the remote computer makes it troublesome for 1) a senior technician to assist a junior technician or 2) for a technician to assist a user who uses Splashtop to remote into a work computer. Note: If you have Splashtop SOS, you can workaround this limitation. But it is just that: a workaround.
  • Sometimes when displaying the remote computers multiple monitors in multiple windows (which is wonderful) I will close one of the extra monitor windows and that closes the entire session. Not a negative on the product per se, but something you need to get used to.
