About

ISL Light is an easy-to-use remote desktop software for security-conscious users. It comes at a great price-performance. ISL Light is a powerful tool that helps IT staff and support technicians solve problems remotely, either through unattended access, remote support or even though screen-sharing on mobile devices. It works cross-platform and offers 256-bit encrypted sessions with all standard remote access features plus some important extras: single-sign-on (SSO), session recording, live chat, videocall, multi-monitor support, file transfer, reporting and many more. Users can choose between cloud or on-premise service. ISL Online license does not limit the number of users, workstations and clients you support. It's a reliable and highly secure software used in all industry sectors including banks, hospitals, governmental institutions and insurances.

About

SecureDesk is a self-hosted remote support and device management platform for Windows environments, built so the operator's own infrastructure, not a third-party cloud sits in the middle of every session. It supports two connection modes: attended sessions for real-time, on-demand remote assistance where the end user is present to approve the connection, and unattended access for managing devices that aren't actively staffed, such as servers or kiosks. For deeper troubleshooting, technicians can drop into a SYSTEM-level shell to run administrative commands directly on the endpoint. The core of its design is the encryption model: both the technician's console and the remote endpoint generate their own AES-256-GCM keys, and endpoints connect outbound-only. The self-hosted relay that brokers each session only ever forwards ciphertext it holds no key for, so even the relay operator can't see or decrypt session content.

Audience

IT companies of all sizes in all industries looking for a secure and easy-to-use remote desktop software.

Audience

IT support teams, help desks, and managed service providers (MSPs) responsible for Windows environments — anyone doing remote troubleshooting or device management who wants to avoid routing session data through a third-party cloud. It's a strong fit for organizations in privacy- and compliance-sensitive industries (healthcare, finance, legal, government) where visibility into remote-support traffic is a real security concern, since the relay itself can't decrypt session content. It also suits solo technicians and small IT shops via the free tier (one technician, three devices), as well as larger teams needing unattended access to unstaffed devices like servers and kiosks.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • This software is easy to use and has a user-friendly interface, making it suitable for both technical and non-technical users. This software excels in video conferences and client meetings.
  • I started using ISL Light during COVID when I could not come into work because I had to stay home to help my kids with school. It was a lifesaver for me because I am the inventory manager at my vet office and I was able to order inventory for the clinic, keep track of inventory, manage our online pharmacy and manage our schedule all from home. ISL made it very easy for me to remote in to our scheduling software and to make client notes. I still use it even though I am back in the office. It is very easy to use and give me more flexibility with my time.
  • ISL Online is easy to use for non-IT professionals, providing a GDPR-approved secure environment. The connection is quite stable. We have used this connection from 3 different continents and multiple devices.
  • We love the service and use it multiple times a week to access our clients' computers remotely. We use both the always on and the on demand service.
  • Easy to use, secure, has a smart phone client that uses simple gestures to control remote devices. I use this daily and can support anyone from wherever I am. It's light weight and very easy to use.

Cons

  • This software offered only a 15-day trial, and it was very expensive.
  • I don not have any complaints with ISL Light, I think it is a great platform.
  • If I am using a small computer, it can be difficult to see the details of the other screen.
  • Not many cons. We would love the ability to print directly to a host printer.
  • The ONLY thing id change is to have the ability to copy and paste files right through the window.
