Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros You get a free US phone number, reliable that you can call through an app, receive calls and sms, and also receive sms on email. Perfect. This is the only software I’ve found that allows me the ability to have a free phone number for my small business. Great for giving out as a contact number without having to give out your personal number. We use this for our pastor on-call. It also allows multiple people to have the app and keep up with voicemails. Easy to use. Allows me to have a secondary phone number tied to my account (my phone number?) Can have outgoing/incoming calls/messages with good quality. I love that Google voice, allows you to get a free phone number in your area code of choice, and when somebody calls in, it requires them to say their name. That way, you can hear who it is before answering it and know if it’s worth picking up of sending to voicemail. Cons You can only select US phone numbers. No worldwide phones available. Features are somewhat limited, but this is to be expected from a free software. There really aren't many negatives. It does what you expect it to do. Sometimes calls won't connect. Costs $10 to change your phone number. Have a hard time receiving calls. I don’t love that the voicemail portion says “google voice”, but it makes sense from google’s perspective.	Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros I like text now at first because I could finally call my country and receive text messages to my phone while away. I started using this phone number to get people to reach me while in a foreign country I use it in my email signature I use it on my business card I used it on my website but then... Was great before the company introduced all the pay walls. Now a barely serviceable extra line. Does not drop the majority of calls. Cons After a couple of weeks of using text now one morning the app was no longer connected to my account and I could no longer retrieve my phone number. So out of despair because I needed to make a phone call in my country I decided to just create a new account thinking that I would have to change all the phone numbers everywhere where I had a written the old text now phone number... And again I lost access to that number a second time and it is this time text now banned me. And I would have had to fight for my number and I talk to myself to the heck with that! I'm done with TextNow I'll never use it again. App selectively does not ring or alert you to texts (even after applying company prescribed fixes). Have to pay to get access codes, or they are willfully blocked. The price is ridiculous. Ads everywhere for you to accidentally click on. App pirates your phone after some texts, and makes you watch a full commercial, in the middle of your conversation. Solution is to close the app, and reboot it. Loading time is slow. Can you imagine if you were in trouble?! I actually paid to have my number reserved for a few months, and found out that it is a separate charge to get access codes, despite it not being advertised that way.
