Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Responsive; listened to our goals and helped us develop a strategy to meet them; recruited exactly the people we wanted and had a Plan B in place in case some didn't show; recordings and transcripts that enabled us to pinpoint the conversations and quotes we needed for our report. Overall very satisfied and would recommend to others -- as others did with us!
  • As a ‘solo-preneur’ moderator, I rely on my facilities and tech partners to make things efficient and easy to use for me as well as my observers and recruiters. I’ve completed a dozen or so projects at this point and really appreciate how Discuss.io listens to us and what we need and keeps improving on the experience. One of my favorite parts in the ability to have a customized video tech question, tech check and confirmation email scripts to fit each project and align with my recruiters. The ability to quickly find key topics with the videos makes report writing less time consuming.
  • -Great tech support to get participants logged on. -Easy to invite participants, moderators, observers. -Seamless sharing of stimuli, whiteboards etc. -Timely turnaround on getting video recordings.
  • I have used discuss.io numerous times and it has gotten better and better. The Tech support is outstanding and key to the success. Everyone is so friendly, on-time, proactive and capable. The platform is user friendly. And, most importantly, there is zero delay (unlike Zoom or Teams).

Cons

  • Occasionally some of the participants had connectivity issues; Discuss.io should ensure that all browsers can function on their platform.
  • Just like all machine transcripts, there’s a lot of errors - especially on technical data for a category. I wish there was a way (and maybe there is) to correct the transcripts and have the algorithm ‘learn’ category lingo.
  • -Machine transcriptions aren't very good.
  • There are more bells and whistles that could be added or improved upon like an easel in-real time feature, simplicity of participant writing on the documents (they struggle), more efficient way to download saved screen shots.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • We used User Intuition to test our messaging and a few concepts after a few of our prospects said they understood the idea, but talked about using it someday. We ended up testing four screens and a concept image for a shared-lists idea that design was falling in love with. Fourteen video interviews later, we paused the build and saved a sprint on something people didn't connect with. We loved that the report separated the assumptions that held up from the ones that looked shaky, with quotes under each. And Chloe from support walked us through setup and helped with the readout slides.
  • We learned that about a third of our users don't think setup is their job. It was kind of like a throwaway comment: one person said they'd just ask ops to do that part. The moderator followed up on who "ops" meant, why they would hand it off, and what might make them do it themselves. We had already seen people pause on step three of the invite-teammate flow. The heatmap showed exactly where, but not why. Twelve interviews on that flow gave us the missing context around expectations and confidence.
  • We thought most of our churn happened because of price and in fact we’d heard it 90% of the time. The follow-up questions from User Intuition uncovered that most of those customers never connected a datasource so didn’t see much value from our product. As evidence, I even downloaded and shared five quotes in Slack with the team to show them the findings. We’re now actively solving cancels and downgrades by focusing on the integration steps instead of discounting.
  • The part I love is I can actually hear from customers who just left, without chasing anyone down for a call. Fifteen people who'd cancelled that week, all talked to in a day or two. And the follow-ups go past "too expensive" into what really made them go. Best of all, I can click any finding straight through to the exact quote, so when I take something to the exec team I'm not guessing, I've got the receipts.

Cons

  • Two of fourteen participants never turned on their video, which made it difficult to gauge their real-time engagement and feedback during the session.
  • No facial-expression scoring on the video. We watch the clips ourselves. Fine for us
  • I like it.
  • None. Great product. Worked well to what we required
