About

Diode Collab™ is a decentralized, local-first collaboration tool that combines secure chat, file sharing, VPN-like access, and team coordination inside a private “Zone.” All communication and data stay fully end-to-end encrypted, with no third-party servers involved - not even Diode can see your activity. Use it for secure messaging, files, notes, dashboards, and external uploads—without ever compromising identity or privacy.

About

The complete in-app collaboration API and SDK. Add contextual activity feeds, chat, and document collaboration directly into your apps to increase user engagement, improve in-app retention, and reduce customer churn. All Weavy features include integrations to the third party tools your users are already familiar with: add capabilities for Zoom and Teams video conferencing, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box file sharing, document sync and versioning contextually inside your app. Weavy allows app developers to quickly add the features that users need to be productive and interactive, directly within the app environment. With our SDK and APIs, you can deploy chat, feeds, and document sync in a matter of days, not months, and at a fraction the cost to build in-house. Focus on your core product while simultaneously adding functionality that makes your user experience not only better, but increases user engagement and dependency on your app.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Diode Collab is the only chat and file sharing app that I know of that doesn't store data on the cloud AND that doesn't require us to run a server. It has chat, but importantly also has a "drive" UI like Google Drive. Also, we routinely need to provide our team with private AI and private dashboards for our business systems - Diode Collab integrates with the rest of their zero trust networking capabilities and makes this basically one-click.
  • Using Diode has been a really smooth experience overall. Once you get going, everything just makes sense clients, fleets, zones, and secure connections all work together without needing centralized servers or extra services. I really like knowing that everything is end-to-end encrypted by default and that I’m fully in control of my identity and access.
  • I use Diode Collab almost daily. It let's me chat and share assets securely with clients. It's easy to set up and onboard. What I like most is the ability to create secure zones for my clients that only they can access. The usernames are anonymous so there is no personal information needed. When we need security and anonymity, Diode is the solution.
  • It takes privacy and security seriously, unlike its mainstream competitors. It also looks great, is fast, and just works.
  • I've been testing Diode Collab for a few months — actually since the very beginning — and I consider it an excellent communication tool for anyone who values the security of their data and information. One of the features I like the most is the ability to create your own zone, like a private server or community, similar to platforms like Discord or Slack — but with zero-trust protection built in by default. That level of privacy is simply not offered by traditional tools.

Cons

  • It is more complex than a consumer chat app - more like Slack or Discord, so that always takes new team members some time to get used to it. They use blockchain to achieve the "Self Custody and Serverless" approach, so things that require blockchain transactions take longer than normal apps. e.g. when you join a Zone, that takes a minute or two, whereas with other chat apps like Slack it is faster.
  • Honestly, I don’t really have anything negative to say. If I had to nitpick, there’s a bit of a learning curve at first just because Diode does things properly instead of taking shortcuts, but once you understand it, it all clicks. Other than that, no issues, no headaches, and nothing that takes away from the overall experience.
  • Diode uses blockchain authentication so a new zone may take up to 5 minutes to initialize, but it's a small price to pay for zero trust security.
  • There's nothing I don't like. It just needs more adoption!
  • There’s a small learning curve at first, especially for users unfamiliar with decentralized tools — but once you get the hang of it, the experience is smooth and rewarding. I believe that with every new update, the user experience will become even more intuitive.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • It is an amazing product, it pretty much saved me over 10K lines of code or maybe more! It is amazing to hook up with any any application and also provides an incredible user interface! I have used this product for over 3-4 months in various applications and microservices, and it is extremely responsive and fast querying! All the products of Weavy are attending to an important cause and can mitigate the use of WebSocket's and other channels! Love the documentation and on screen Weavy implementation just makes me want to use more of it!
  • The amazing interface design; minimalistic, sophisticated and offering maximum features to the users is one the most attractive features of Weavy. Definitely recommended for its ease-of-use, its scalability and its easy inclusion across any existing application. One of the amazing things is the range of different services Weavy offers all under one roof and each of which has so many specific targeted use case advantages - it is really useful and helpful in any small to large scale projects.
  • For me working with Weavy framework is just as work with minimum effort and maximum effect. Starting with the Weavy docs, All the software and steps required to follow are well documented so that anyone with minimal knowledge can easily work with Weavy. The features provided by Weavy helps in team messaging and collaboration. All the features can be integrated with ease and UI is amazing!
  • * Easy integration * Better customer support * Features provided by Weavy are really useful for any dev projects as we are not additionally needed to code from scratch. * From a developer point of view, the SDK is customizable to an extend to additionally include our plugins.
  • The advantage of Weavy SDK is that it is codeless. With some minor tweaks we could make a business requirement prototype from scratch.

Cons

  • What I did not like about the w Weavy avy is the ASP Net architecture. It is amazingly written but extremely hard to understand, thankfully to the .sln compilation file, it can easily work!
  • A little bit more support of plausible error cases would be really appreciated. And also, we faced some trouble while making the in app video conferencing work as there was some local server issue while authorising zoom and other clients, a little help on it would also be really useful as it's a great prospective feature.
  • If one of the software required failed it will affect the setup of Weavy.
  • * Better if cloud database could be provided * Support across multiple domains would also be suggestion.
  • The downside was that many of us was facing licencing issues. But it was rare.
