Description

SMF service wrapper for local zone startup/shutdown and grouping under Sun/Oracle Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris builds (including OpenIndiana and illumos).

The first proper step in the project would be to clean up and bring over my documentation and script samples located at http://wiki.openindiana.org/display/oi/Zones+as+SMF+services

zonesvc Web Site

Features

  • Control Solaris local zones as Solaris SMF service instances, allowing to set up dependencies between zones and other services for properly ordered startup and shutdown.
  • Define groups of local zones (service instances) to enable or disable whole virtualized server networks with one administrative action.
  • Track the actual startup of zones up to the useful states (i.e. wait until a database or appserver SMF service completely starts up) before completing the start method and giving green-light for dependents to start up.
