Hi guy(s), I think it will be great to add to xqf the support for Jedi Knight II : jedi outcast. I've see that you already had done the job for Jedi academy. It's not probably a hard job for you ? Thanks, nelson. |

Hello I'm new to this mailnig list. I used XQF for many games. But I'm having problems with OpenArena. Has anyone tried to list servers which are listed in-game? I tried adding dpmaster.deathmask.net but I get really wierd list. With versions tading pre 0.8.1 version. This is the right list: http://dpmaster.deathmask.net/?game=openarena Any help would be great. I tried to filter ID master server for Q3A for baseoa but I get only two servers. I was told that OA sends servers info to q3 masters BTW I set game as q3a Thanks for the help |

I knew about different implementations but I didn't expect them to be that fancy like the animations. I talked to a friend of mine and we may give it a try. though it may take some time until we get round to work on it as there is a lot of stuff to do for university for the next weeks / months. greetings, david -- GMX startet ShortView.de. I guess it was added for Quake 3 as it was the first game that colored nicknames with carets \^[0-9]. If you query Q3-based engine server normally you see that it strips every occurance of \^[0-9]. It is human readable. -carets option was probably introduced to force qstat not to do it. For example if you write a 3rd party parser you want to have full information.
Also there are issues with stripping carets. Base Quake 3 uses \^[0-9]. But mods made much mess. OSP uses \^[0-9a-z] and \^[Xx][0-9a-fA-F]{6}. CPMA uses \^[0-9a-z]. Excessive plus uses many many more with wildcards and special chars e.g. '*'. Every mod does it its own way. And ^8 means 3 different colors for each of base Q3, OSP and CPMA (E+ probably too).
To have more fun other games followed carets idea, but each game for its own way, for example Doom3/Quake4 introduced \^[Cc][0-9]{3} for hex colors. ETQW cames from same trunk, its colors are easy to cover, like here for example : http://www.quovadis-clan.de/qv/index.php?mod=articles&action=view&id=3 . But you should care that every ETQW mod can rework it other way.
If you use -carets you get all details. But if you want to color it the way they should be colored - rules are different for every game/mod pair. While it's easy to support basic ones \^[0-9], I don't think it's trivial to support some complex like "^r^f^x77C818apple^xA5CC76juice^s^R^f^x2C7EE4blue^x76A9E7shift" from examples of bottom of that page : http://www.excessiveplus.net/docs/names.html . You should have generic regexp-powered mechanism connected with rules to apply colors.
AFAIK XQF have never supported coloring, but David you can try and design mechanism to do so.
Greetings,
Tomasz Kalkosiński

Hi, I have got a quite simple problem with XQF at the moment. It does not show the gamecolors. eg. for Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory Quakewars. a screenshot can be found here: http://images.voric.com/files/xqf-screen_0r72y.png as you can see it prints both server- and playernames with colortags (^w for white, ^1 for red etc.) but does not replace them with colored text. I had no luck with the faq, the forum (which seems to be broken) and google search so I hope to find some advice here. I'm running ubuntu 7.10 and tried a few things by myself: - install xqf from the repository (that version is quite old and does not support ETQW, but it looks the same for ET as in the screenshot above) - compile and install xqf from sourcecode -> link: https://xqf.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xqf/trunk/xqf that version in combination with qstat from sourcecode (here: https://qstat.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/qstat/trunk/qstat2) supports ETQW and ET but shows the mentioned problem. - run xqf with --debug 3 but I didn't see anything unusual (like errors, as far as I can tell) refreshing servers looks like that: "debug(3): start_qstat() -- Job 864b148 EXEC> qstat -errors -cfg /usr/local/share/xqf/qstat.cfg -maxsimultaneous 20 -retry 3 -raw -R -P -carets -etqws 82.96.64.145:27788" it opens qstat with -carets and thus fetches the colorcodes (that's why I think it should color them in the gui). is it intended or not and what may I do to change it? thanks in advance and greetings, david -- GMX startet ShortView.de. yep. I see what u mean. Which leads to the monolithic way of listing the games. maybe if it had a simple way off adding custum games: * name * icon * master server and the rest could be by default (i.e. the tabs invoking and custum args) maybe then it will be easier for the devs to add suport. Hi, since Urt is a mod from urban Terror, if u are using the ioquake, just add a new entry in "custom args" tab: game: q3ut4 arg: +set fs_game q3ut4 also i created a filter to show only the game q3ut4 and added a master (urbanterror.net) there are other: //*** Master Servers *** master3.idsoftware.com" // By default the server will report to the Id Software master server. master.urbanterror.net" // Use this to integrate with urbanterror.net applications master0.gamespy.com:28900" // Server reports to gamespy master server. if u only play UrT, u can set the comandline to the ioUrbanTerror.* executable or whatever file u use to launch the game. Currently i'm strugling with the the BE and PB, because it won't run in amd64 and i can't compile it (closed source). am i missing something? i can only play in not protected servers. Well, it's kind of a bug and a feature at the same time. By using a custom qstat.cfg in xqf it was sometimes possible to introduce new qstat types without the need for a new qstat version. Nowadays I keep config files used by xqf and qstat in sync. Unfortunately the qstat 2.11 config file actually requires qstat 2.11 this time. Maybe it's better to get rid of qstat.cfg and always require the latest qstat in the next xqf release instead. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Lud...@gm... //\ V_/_ PGP Key ID: FF8135CE |

Hi, Some time ago XQF began to produce incomplete builds on my system (very recent autoconf, automake, and gtk+). It appears as tho GTK+ is expecting to find .png images for the .xpm's bundled in src/xpm, but does not. XQF refuses to start. As a horrible work-around, I converted all of the .xpm's from the source directory to .png and dropped them in the expected installation path (/usr/share/xqf/default). Am I the only one experiencing this problem? Build process is available here: http://jdolan.dyndns.org/jaydolan/ports/xqf/Pkgfile -- Jay Dolan jdolan.dyndns.org A: Because it's difficult to read. (After some question posted directly to the authors). The XQF CVS version ( http://xqf.sourceforge.net/cvs/ ) has support for tremulous. But, you have to patch the /etc/qstat.cfg file in order the QSTA= T supports Tremulous. As I'm running Debian, QSTAT is called quakestat. So, the configure command for xqf is: ./configure --with-qstat=3Dquakestat Next, I added to the end of /etc/qstat.cfg: gametype TREMULOUS new extend Q3S name =3D Tremulous template var =3D TREMULOUS game rule =3D gamename end gametype TREMULOUSM new extend Q3M name =3D Tremulous Master template var =3D TREMULOUSMASTER default port =3D 30710 master protocol =3D 69 master for gametype =3D TREMULOUS end Now it works. In the documentation of XQF is written abaut Sof2 >Qstat 2.5c supports Soldier of Fortune 2 by using a ,qstatrc > configuration file (normally stored in your home directory > or /etc/qstat.cfg). You must properly install qstat with the > qstatrc configuration file for XQF to work with this game. See > the qstat documentation for more information. But i still dont ckonow what to do. Please help. |

Hi, Let's hope for a longer lifetime for this release :-) If you used the xqf installer, please re-download it and check that it says qstat 2.10. If you don't use the Quake4 master query (-q4m) you don't need to upgrade. QStat version 2.10 October 22, 2005 Fixes ----- fix Quake4 master only returning 231 servers fix busy loop when waiting for Quake3 and Quake4/Doom3 master packets fix win32 build cu Ludwig --=20 (o_ Lud...@gm... //\ V_/_ PGP Key ID: FF8135CE |

the favorites list is located at /home/user/.qf/faovrites. if he deleted that file, i don't think reinstalling will help since the list is in userland. you could email him your list and have him place it in the ~/.qf directory. if he still has that file, maybe he just needs to check permissions and\or ownership of it.
