Is it very difficult to compile it for panther?... or ... something like that? Sorry, I don't understand... but I think no. :( Anyway, maybe over there is somebody who already made it works with panther :) Excuse my english. Command "sudo kmodstat -n org.noncontiguous.WirelessDriver" in terminal doesn't work. BTW /library is in the root directory - i.e., your hard drive name/, next to /System, /Users, etc Run the troubleshooting.info program again. You should have what I show above. After mailing to D Link, they told me about the firmware of the Revision P. It is a PRISM 3. And all the drivers made for Mac Os X which supporting PRISM chip-set do 2, 2.5 and 3? but do not work with Rev. P1 Any suggestions will be welcome. Hi, The version I worked on works for me. Here is a repost of my original post in 2002 with links to download it. I tried to get it incorporated with the CVS, but I'm not sure it was actually put there by the folks that had the permissions to do that. Alex, Have you repaired permissions using the Disk Utility? Have you gone to the System Preferences and opened the "Wireless Config" panel, to select the wireless you want to connect to? I suggest you start with no password to get started. If that works, you can add a password to the WAP later. I've copied my troubleshooting file so you can see what it should look like. en1 is the wireless connection. Kori Last login: Thu Dec 16 22:52:50 on console Welcome to Darwin! Hi everyone Well my Orinoco PC card still doesn't work after having installed the drivers and used the troubleshooting tips on top of the FAQ page. The problem is that I'm not sure if it even works since I bought the PowerBook without even knowing about the card. I'll just post the troubleshoot script results and hope someone has a solution. Hi all, I am having big problems with my orinoco silver pcmcia card on my powerbook g3 firewire OS 10.3.6. Really red a lot of the posting before writing this, and this all the things I've done: Edited Info.plist to make it load the drivers (pccard156,3). All things in order, network device en1 shows up, got the Panel in the system preferences, SigMeter show up in the bar beside the pcmcia icon and I can turn pccard off. So everything looks like it is working and the signal strenght goes up and down a bit but it is almost always full (I am doing this 1 meter from the access point). But, even if the signal is full I cannot connect to the network (but if I ping my IP address I get a response), and mainly, the lights on the card do not blink at all. The card is not broken for sure because I tested it on a PC. Hi everyone! Almost exactly a year ago, Thomas Albrecht <Tom@gm...> wrote on this forum: -- snip -- Re: Panther, DHCP, Orinoco, Lombard 2003-11-27 08:54 Thanks a lot for your help. In fact, I had installed it once correctly, and the card showed up nicely and everything. It even displayed the signal strength of the network, but the DHCP thing didn"t work, or it didn"t connect at all. Anyway, I ploughed through all the documentation, and found two suggestions which I tried: - Install twice, and install the packages separately as described on musox"s homepage. - Don"t leave the DHCP Client ID field in System Preferences empty. And it worked. So anyone reading this having similar problems should try these steps. Also, anyone reading these connected to the project: From the number of times I read about similar problems on the support list, it would be nice for new users if this could be in the official FAQ. Anyhow, thanks a lot for the driver, which is now working perfectly. Tom -- snap -- Now I have the same problem (well, actually, Panther, DHCP, Orinoco, Pismo), but still don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Where is this procedure described (on Mac OS X's homepage???). Regards, Frank |

Geoffrey, The installer did not work properly because you do not have a /Library/PreferencePanes/ folder. Create an empty folder in root//Library/ and name it PreferencePanes - the rerun the installer. It will add a WirelessDriver PPane.prefPane entry in the folder. Reboot the computer, go to the System Preferences and you will see a new preference pane at the bottom. I am trying in vain to get my Proxim Harmony 802.11b LAN card up as wireless unit on my PowerBook G3 400mhz 256mb ram running OS 10.2.8 (build 6r73) below is the output from within terminal, following t-shooting application run apparently, the sw components are not loading, or?? --works OK with Orinoco Gold card, and seems to recognize this card, given it has the info (below)... Is there some way to 'hack' into the useable-card info or to add a particular card (APPARENTLY) not listed in the wireless config or other components?? --not real savvy on this stuff, but willing to give it a go, if somebody can help THANKS SO MUCH, IN ADVANCE, FOR ANY/ALL HELP :) GT ************************************************************* Last login: Wed Dec 1 11:20:41 on console Welcome to Darwin! /Volumes/WirelessDriver\ beta\ 5.1/Utilities/Troubleshooting\ Info.command; exit [GT-WARMEs-Computer:~] gtwarme% /Volumes/WirelessDriver\ beta\ 5.1/Utilities/Troubleshooting\ Info.command; exit ### system info ProductName: Mac OS X ProductVersion: 10.2.8 BuildVersion: 6R73 Darwin GT-WARMEs-Computer.local. 6.8 Darwin Kernel Version 6.8: Wed Sep 10 15:20:55 PDT 2003; root:xnu/xnu-344.49.obj~2/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc ppc750 ### wireless driver files installed drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Dec 1 08:58 WirelessDriver.kext drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Sep 10 2003 IOPCCardFamily.kext ls: /Library/PreferencePanes: No such file or directory 2004-12-01 11:24:00.996 defaults[360] The domain/default pair of (loginwindow, AutoLaunchedApplicationDictionary) does not exist ### wirelesscard info | | "VersionOneInfo" = ("PROXIM","LAN PC CARD HARMONY 80211B","$ | | +-o pccard126,2@0,0 <class IOPCCard16Device> | | "IOName" = "pccard126,2" ### network info lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::250:e4ff:fe45:a958%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 ether 00:50:e4:45:a9:58 media: autoselect (none) status: inactive supported media: none autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> ### wd command line tool status /Volumes/WirelessDriver beta 5.1/Utilities/Troubleshooting Info.command: WirelessConfig: command not found logout [Process completed] |

Thanks, I kept at it and it turned out to be a corrupted download. I have it working now. Thanks to anyone who replied. Just grab the latest installer for 10.2. It works with 10.3. The latest patch caused a lot of problems for me though, I'm not exactly sure why. Basically via the wireless driver I was able to connect to the internet in all forms of communication except through my web browsers. I ended up reinstalling Safari from the download from Apple's website. That helped, I still had problems, and reinstalled the entire update from Apple. This fixed my problems. I am running fine with the wireless driver on the latest Apple is offering. Long story short, I think you'll be ok.
