Hi, I have a Netgear card working in my wallstreet w/ 10.2.4 (and perviously on 10.2.3). You need to edit the plist to add the card's string. Read this post from Yuriwho on how to do it. (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=2540661) Hope this helps, Rob |

They both work well with my tiBook. I use the airport card for MacStumbler all the time, with three sets of network connection settings: Ethernet, airport card, and wirelessdriver for other cards. I can also configure the settings to have both the Airport and other card active at the same time (both show a signal) but since I don't fully understand why this works I'm reluctant to use this set up. vix > > I can use both just fine. > > At 7:45 PM +0000 2/21/03, Graham Outterside wrote: >> Why would I want to you may ask ? >> >> At home, my airport card is fine (just about) range-wise, but when out and >> about using public WiFi points I find I really need the range that my Orinoco >> card gave me before I got hold of an Airport card. I am using the driver on a Pismo running 10.2.4 without any modifications. I am using an Orinoco Silver pc card. It did not work, however, at a client site where they had installed a new Airport Extreme base station. Their users with built-in Airport cards worked fine, but another user with a Orinoco card in a Windows laptop also could not connect. The tech folks put the original Airport base station back and all of us connected without problems. Hello, I have updated both my computers, 800Mhz Cube and 400Mhz G3 PowerBook=20 (Lombard) with the new 10.2.4 update without any problems. The wireless=20= driver works just as before (no problems whatsoever) with the EPoX=20 EWL-C11 WLan PC Card. I just hope that the next update of the=20 wirelessdriver adds WEP support. :) Before updating to 10.2.4 make sure to uninstall any System themes that=20= you might use. There are some if not all themes that are not=20 compatible with the 10.2.4 update causing alot of problems. //Rob On fredag, feb 21, 2003, at 19:27 Europe/Stockholm, Matthew Calhoun=20 wrote: > Hi Sahib, > > Just yesterday I updated to 10.2.4 on a G4 PowerBook with a NetGate=20 > EL-2511 card. Interesting to hear other experiences. Since upgrading to 10.2.4 my Proxim Skyline card will no longer find my HP printer over AppleTalk when using this list's wireless driver. AppleTalk servers still appear and mount normally. I changed the driver out briefly for the IOXperts driver as a troubleshooting step to see if it could see my printer over AppleTalk - it could. Why would I want to you may ask ? At home, my airport card is fine (just about) range-wise, but when out and about using public WiFi points I find I really need the range that my Orinoco card gave me before I got hold of an Airport card. So can I load the driver for the Gold card and use whichever interface I require or will the presence of the Sourceforge drivers stop me using the internal Airport card ? Thanks |

The archives suggest that other people have managed to get a Netgear FA401 card working with a Wallstreet PowerBook and Jaguar. I've been trying for the last several weekends, and haven't had any luck. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm running Mac OS X 10.2.3 (build 6G30) on a Rev. A Wallstreet (PowerBook G3 series version 2.2, according to System Profiler) Driver installation went fine, and WirelessConfig is in System Preferences. I rebooted with the card inserted, and the "Link" light turned green during the boot process--a good sign I thought. But I don't have any new ethernet devices in the Network control panel, and everything in the WirelessConfig control panel is greyed out. The Console Log contains several copies of this message: 1973-02-13 19:55:59.067 System Preferences[374] Iterations: 0 WirelessDriver: Couldn't find a WirelessDriver service in registry - is the card loaded? Hi Sahib, Just yesterday I updated to 10.2.4 on a G4 PowerBook with a NetGate=20 EL-2511 card. The update was a nightmare, but things have settled down=20= now, and the wireless driver is working just fine. I'm running 10.2.4 and everything still works fine, same as before I upgraded. I use both Orinoco Silver and Engenius cards. > I was wondering if anybody is running OS 10.2.4 with the wireless driver. If > so, in general, are people having success or is the driver failing? I have a WAP54G and there is one more thing to mention: I've had terrible luck attempting to configure it with anything except IE. Fortunately, both Mac IE and Windows IE work, but if you try to configure it with anything else, the symptom is that it hangs the little built-in web server. You wind up power-cycling the box and your changes don't get saved. Whacky. Barry, your Belkin F5D6020 v.2 (FCCID: K7SF5D6021) is an Atmel card, like the SMC 2632W V.2. It won't work with the driver here. Mail me if you are interested in attempting to use another driver. I don't have an F5D6020 v.2, so I can't promise my driver will work, but I'm willing to try it. |

I hope someone out there can help me out. I have a PowerMac 266 with OSX latest version running. I recently received the Airport Extreme with the Orinoco Gold card as recommended by MacMall. Using your driver and Wireless Config tool, as well as the Airport Utility, the card and my base station are communicating. I am able to walk around the house and watch the signal strength change. What I can't figure out is how to connect back to Earthlink through my DSL connection. I have entered the DNS information for Earthlink and deselected PPoe in the Network settings, because my card loses connection with the base station when this is selected. For my IP Address I have listed: 10.0.1.201 Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 Router: 10.0.1.1 The internet just won't work. I've even tried downloading the Modem tool and that is a tool that interacts with the PPoe which makes the card not work. I'm running with no encryption on the network to simplify things. Your suggestions are appreciated. Best Regards, Gregg (Very Frustrated User Right Now.... ) On Monday, February 17, 2003, at 03:32 PM, Gregg Podalsky wrote: > dma...@uo... |

The terms of the contract don't allow me to open source that work so someone else will have to step up and write if it is to become more generic and open source. -Rob On Thursday, February 20, 2003, at 02:29 PM, Faddah Steve Wolf wrote: > > hello, > > i'm seeking to find a third party mac os x driver for proxim's skyline > 802.11b usb adapter. and i need it to do WEP. > > i looked at your sight at http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.net, and > at your > support faq. i see you have a driver that is compatible with the > proxim > skyline pci bus cards with mac os x. but will it work with the USB > adapter? > > oh, and we need it to do WEP as our LAN admin refuses to back down on > full > 128-bit encryption on 802.11b wi-fi. so if it doesn't do WEP, i can't > get > on our network. > > we have an older imac 266/lime that is still good, could even run mac > os x > 10.2.3 (jaguar) if we dropped more ram in it. thing is, those imacs > did not > have any airport slot. we got proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter to > get > it on our wi-fi net (too far down in the basement to string ethernet > cable > in an old house), but they only had drivers for mac os 9 classic. > farralon/proxim/orinoco had previously promised mac os x drivers, but > in the > shuffle of proxim buying up so many others, it looks like now they > have the > standard excuse of "no resources" to ever write a decent mac os x > driver for > their proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter. > > we would really like it to run mac os x so it can use rendezvous > technology > for ease of accessing our windows network and windows printers. > > so will any of the drivers on this site work with the proxim's skyline > 802.11b usb adapter? or can i get some direction on how to tweak the > source > to make it work? any help, please, would be most appreciated. > > -- > faddah > not a monk, but the ghost of a fox > the zen troll underneath the stairs > the costello of dharma rain zen center > portland, ore. > fad...@ea... > 503-449-0531 > > > "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. > Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." > > -- Groucho Marx > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: SlickEdit Inc. hello, i'm seeking to find a third party mac os x driver for proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter. and i need it to do WEP. i looked at your sight at http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.net, and at your support faq. i see you have a driver that is compatible with the proxim skyline pci bus cards with mac os x. but will it work with the USB adapter? oh, and we need it to do WEP as our LAN admin refuses to back down on full 128-bit encryption on 802.11b wi-fi. so if it doesn't do WEP, i can't get on our network. we have an older imac 266/lime that is still good, could even run mac os x 10.2.3 (jaguar) if we dropped more ram in it. thing is, those imacs did not have any airport slot. we got proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter to get it on our wi-fi net (too far down in the basement to string ethernet cable in an old house), but they only had drivers for mac os 9 classic. farralon/proxim/orinoco had previously promised mac os x drivers, but in the shuffle of proxim buying up so many others, it looks like now they have the standard excuse of "no resources" to ever write a decent mac os x driver for their proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter. we would really like it to run mac os x so it can use rendezvous technology for ease of accessing our windows network and windows printers. so will any of the drivers on this site work with the proxim's skyline 802.11b usb adapter? or can i get some direction on how to tweak the source to make it work? any help, please, would be most appreciated. -- faddah not a monk, but the ghost of a fox the zen troll underneath the stairs the costello of dharma rain zen center portland, ore. fad...@ea... 503-449-0531 "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. so I have seen news recently about people hacking the Airport Extreme driver to support the Linksys driver, because it is easy to do I think because they are based on similar chip sets. So why doesn't anyone try this with the Lucent -> Airport drivers? Shouldn't they be the same? When Airport first came out, weren't they based on the Lucent chipset and that was why it worked as a default in OS 9? Shouldn't one be able to hack the Airport driver in a similar way? I know its probably an obvious answer, but I am just curious. Thanks! Also, if someone can email me a working copy of SigMeter, I would appreciate it. The one in the installer is missing pieces. Regards. |

The bad news is the SMC2632W v2 is an Atmel card, not a Prism/Prism2, so it won't work with the driver which is the subject of this list. The good news is I have a driver for that card, based on the Linux Atmel driver. E-mail me if you're interested. (I'm working on an install script now... Apple's documentation for PackageMaker seems lacking, unfortunately) |

Usually this is done by accessing a web page on the deice itself. The address on most of the Delta NEtworks-derived devices (Linksys, Xsense, etc.) is usually 192.168.1.1. It should be listed in the owners manual. By default, the user name stays blank and the password is: admin -Rob On Saturday, February 15, 2003, at 09:01 AM, Robert Nicholson wrote: > I've have an 800 DVI Tibook and I'm in my friends apartment where he > uses a graphite airport basestation.
