Not to downplay the usefulness of such a timestamp, but 1) unix timestamps mean almost nothing to me when *I* look at them and 2) ls -l shows the modification time in human-readable format... :) But hey, the field's size is 32 bits, and our favorite time_t is also 32 bits, so I'd endorse it as another valid option (until January, 2038). I think it'd be kinda neat to just show the last modification time in Webmin, though. While we're on the topic. --Danny |

Hi, Patrick van Elk schreef op 02-11-05 16:14: > Now I have one domain left which is really not an Alias Server. I will > wait and see if the bandwidth usage for this sub-server is correct too... Unfortunately, it looks as if the bandwidth usage of this server is still wrong. The difference between the bandwidth usage of the parent server and the sub-server was and is constantly 17-18 megabytes over the last two days, I think that is too much of a coincidence... Can an option be added to the BIND module to use the Unix timestamp as the serial number rather than a date based serial number or a running number? Yes, you are correct there .. virtualmin is designed to simplify things, which also means less control. - Jamie |

What I meant to say was, the sub-servers were pointing to the web site of their parent server with a ServerAlias in httpd.conf, but I didn't create them with the Create Alias Server button (now I get an extra VirtualHost with a Redirect). I have recreated all of the domains with 'Create Alias Server' and the bandwidth usage seems to be right! Now I have one domain left which is really not an Alias Server. I will wait and see if the bandwidth usage for this sub-server is correct too... Thank you very much, Patrick |

Hi When i use advance search the first of the links at the bottom says "Return to user mailbox" and the second "Return to user list" Problem on 1.240 the First link is http://example.com:10000/mailboxes/index.cgi?folder=0 which actually takes you back to the Read User Mail index. second link is same less the ?folder=0 should it not be http://example.com:10000/mailboxes/list_mail.cgi?user=mdscc&folder=0 Mark -- Obantec Support www.obantec.net 0845 458 3121 WebHosting and Domains Nominet UK Member & IPStag Holder CentralNic Accredited Reseller |

Are you sure those extra servers are actually alias domains? You can tell by clicking on one and looking for the 'Alias of server' field.. Normally alias servers don't even appear on the bandwidth page at all, although you said that they are being (incorrectly) listed. - Jamie |

This is normal behaviour actually .. it is best not manually edit users created by Virtualmin, as it has it's own idea of what modules and settings they should have, and will over-write manual changes. Because virtualmin is just a plugin to webmin, it cannot stop you from making manual changes though. If you want to do something like grant access to an extra module, the only way to do this currently is to edit /etc/webmin/virtual-server/domains/XXX (where XXX is the file for the domain) and add a line like : webmin_modules=status Then edit and re-save the virtual server. - Jamie |

> these are 3 modules more than in my initial setup. can anybody > explain this? is my configuration not correct? thanks for any advice. well, i think that i can answer my questions myself. my guess is that the specific webmin user in this case is under control of virtualmin virtual server. the general settings of virtualmin override the all setting of the webmin user. so when i delete a module in the webmin user setup which is controlled by virtualmin it just gets added again. and when i add a module in the webmin user setting which is not allowed in the general setup of virtualmin it gets deleted. therefore, i cannot control these virtualmin controlled webmin user individually? i tried to add the System and Server Status module through the webmin user setting. but as soon as i change the password (as described in my last email) this module disappears again form the list of available modules. if this is intended behavior then i ask myself why are these virtualmin controlled webmin users configurable/editable by the webmin users module at all when everything is reset to the defaults anyway? i still think that i have a missconfiguration here or i don't grasp the virtualmin concept at all. regards, marc |

dear list members i'm experiencing a funny behavior with the latest version 1.240 of webmin on fedora core 3: i set up a webmin user with the following modules (there are no webmin groups): - Global ACL - Change Language and Theme - Change Passwords - Read User Mail - Virtualmin Virtual Servers with the default setting of the Change Password module i always get "Failed to change password : Failed to encrypt password" (MD5 perl module is installed). so i changed the setting to not having to enter the old password. with this setting password changing seems to work. but as soon as the password is changed the webmin user setting gets changed as well. now the user has all of a sudden access to more modules than configures before: - Global ACL - Apache Webserver - Change Language and Theme - Change Passwords - File Manager - Protected Web Directories - Read User Mail - Virtualmin Virtual Servers these are 3 modules more than in my initial setup. can anybody explain this? is my configuration not correct? thanks for any advice. regards, marc |

Adding New Languages to Webmin 2. Using wbmtranslator 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? 4. Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to the Webmin Translation Team at tra...@we... so that they can include it in the main Webmin distribution. The best way to tar up everything is with the command : tar czf /tmp/translation.tar.gz \ */lang/sw lang/sw */module.info \ */config.info.sw */help/*.sw.html ###################################################################### 2. Using wbmtranslator This is a module by Emmanuel Saracco which can be downloaded here: http://labs.libre-entreprise.org/projects/wbmtranslator/ It consists of an easy to use webinterface in order to update current translations or setup new languages. Last not least it enables you to officially send in translations to the Webmin Translation Team at tra...@we... ###################################################################### 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? Yes (by Jamie Cameron) There is a way to do this - create a lang/ subdirectory under your theme with the usual en, de and other files. Then in your theme CGIs or .pl, use code like : %mytext = &load_language("my-theme-directory"); print "<b>$mytext{'something'}</b> <p>\n"; ###################################################################### 4. Please write your feedback in english, even if you are currently running Webmin in another language. </original> You should add the following (after translating it into your language). <br>If you have a question or a request on the <u>Arabic Transalation</u>, please send a feedback <u>only</u> to <u>tra...@we...</u>. This works for another domain, should I recreate the aliases for domain.nl as Alias Servers maybe? Patrick |

Are these aliases created as separate <VirtualHost> sections in httpd.conf, or just as extra ServerAlias lines in the section for domain.nl ? I suspect that it may be the former, which could cause problems .. - Jamie |

Hi Jamie, Thank you for your response. For the problem server, I get something like this: domain.nl limit 5120 usage 208 alias1.nl limit [blank] usage 208 alias2.nl limit [blank] usage 208 alias3.nl limit [blank] usage 208 alias4.nl limit [blank] usage 208 alias5.nl limit [blank] usage 208 alias6.nl limit [blank] usage 208 When I click on domain.nl and go to the 'Parent servers only' page, it reads limit 5120 usage 1455. >By the way, for alias websites that are created by just adding another >ServerAlias entry to the main server's httpd.conf section, there will >never be any web bandwidth recorded as they have no separate website.. >Instead, it will all accumulate against the parent server. > > Yes, that is exactly how it worked before. I now remember I had to make some temporary changes in the httpd.conf for this particular server and undid them a while ago (so everything should be in the same state as when the bandwidth usage was recorded correctly), but now all usage is being recorded for each ServerAlias. Do you have an idea what I could be doing wrong? Bye, Patrick |

If you go to the Bandwidth Usage page and click on the 'Parent and sub-servers' link, does it show any usage at all for your sub-domains? By the way, for alias websites that are created by just adding another ServerAlias entry to the main server's httpd.conf section, there will never be any web bandwidth recorded as they have no separate website.. Instead, it will all accumulate against the parent server. - Jamie |
