Hi, It had bash. I switched it to sh and it works. If I "su - oracle" then crontab works with bash. It must be a path or .profile thing? Thanks and regards, Bill |

Hi everyone, Webmin version 1.280 is now available for download from http://www.webmin.com/ and mirror sites. This release includes the following changes : - Added the Simple Blue theme, a less graphics-heavy design which may eventually become the default. This theme takes advantage of changes in many modules to use highlighting on table rows. - Updated the Apache module to support version 2.2.0. - Updated the various operating-specific NFS server modules to support mass deletion of exports, and to internationalize those that were using hard-coded text strings. - Updated various modules to allow deletion of multiple objects (such as table fields, Samba shares, PostgreSQL grants, Squid ACLs and so on) at once. - Added configuration options to the Read User Mail module for the date format, pager arrow locations, timezone and separate message window mode. - Updated the MySQL module to support views in MySQL version 5. - Enhanced the System and Server Status module to allow the selection of multiple hosts for each monitor, added a monitor type for testing an SQL server, and updated the Network Traffic monitor to support FreeBSD. - A bunch of other bug fixes and small features. Also available is Usermin 1.210, which has numerous improvements and fixes in the Read Mail and Mail Fowarding modules, in particular solving the problem of links to messages in the mail list becoming incorrect when new mail arrives. As always, please send me any bug reports or feature suggestions that you might have. - Jamie |

This is my first time using webmin and I'm very impressed so far. Thanks for a wonderful program! I'd like to burn DVDs through the webmin interface (it seems that may not be supported, but I'll fiddle with that later). I thought I should start by getting CD burning to work, but when I go to the "Device Options" section of the CD burner module, "<none selected>" is the only choice. I can mount CDs just fine using this drive, so it seems to work. This is webmin 1.280 on Ubuntu Server 6.06. The device is /dev/hdc and /dev/cdrom is symlinked to it. The DVD burner model is TOSHIBA ODD-DVD SD-R5272. Can anyone help me get CD (and maybe even DVD) burning working? Thanks! Mike |

Do you have more than one form on your page? If so, you need to pass the
form number as the third parameter to file_chooser_button.

What does it take to make the output of file_chooser_button() actually popup a
window? Calls to file_chooser_button work fine in existing modules (such as
apache/htaccess.cgi). In code that I'm writing, file_chooser_button appears
to output the correct html/js, but clicking on the resulting button does
nothing.
The code pulls in web-lib.pl, web-lib-funcs.pl, ui-lib.pl and
javascript-lib.pl. The first form on the page uses the date_chooser_button()
function, and that works fine.
The relevant HTML (rather ugly) looks like:
<form METHOD="POST" ACTION="defbb.cgi" ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data"
NAME="restoreform">
<table width="100%" id="restore-form"><input type="hidden"
name="restoreinited" value="true">
<tobdy>
<tr><br><br></tr>
<tr><input type="radio" name="fm" value="1" title="Restore only if entire
bundle validates." checked="on">Failure Mode 1</tr>
<tr><input type="radio" name="fm" value="2" title="Parse message bundle and
restore individual messages that validate.">Failure Mode 2</tr>
<tr><input type="radio" name="fm" value="3" title="Restore even messages that
don't validate if there's no valid copy on disk.">Failure Mode 3</tr>
<tr><td width="70%"><table width="100%"><tr><td width="70%"><table
width="100%"><tr><input name="bfilename"><input type=button onClick='ifield =
form.file; chooser =
window.open("/chooser.cgi?add=0&type=1&chroot=/&file="+escape(ifield.value),
"chooser", "toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbar=no,width=400,height=300");
chooser.ifield = ifield; window.ifield = ifield' value="...">
</tr>
<td valign=top colspan="2"><input type="submit" value="Restore
Bundle"></td></tobdy></table></form>
Thanks,
Noah

You would need to the following : 1) Install the Authen::PAM perl module 2) Restart Webmin 3) Create or edit /etc/pam.d/webmin to use the ntlm module 4) In the Webmin Users module, edit the users who you want to authenticate with ntml and set their passwords to 'Unix authentication' I haven't personally tested this, but it should work.. - Jamie |

I'm new to webmin and apologize, in advance, if I'm rehashing old ground or have overlooked something obvious. I have searched the archives and googled a bit but have turned up nothing definitive in a few hours of searching, though I did find something perhaps related here http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=14626558 My issue is that I am using System > Users and Groups > [username] to change a the password for a user who is also a webmin user (I haven't tested users who are not webmin users). When I do so what results is 1. BASH accepts both passwords in the context of "su [username]" 2. webmin accepts only the new password 3. POP3 using SSL accepts only the old password (I don't allow plain- text login traffic) Regarding (1.) "su [username]", /var/log/system.log reports for the new password [...] com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right system.login.tty by process /usr/bin/su for authorization created by / usr/bin/su. even though the login prompt indicates a successful su, while for the old password /var/log/system.log yields [...] com.apple.SecurityServer: Succeeded authorizing right system.login.tty by process /usr/bin/su for authorization created by / usr/bin/su. Any clues? Thank you in advance for any pointers and, again, my apologies if I've overlooked an already available resource. Johnnie Wilcox aka mistersquid |

Didn't see this in the docs or the code. Is there an existing mechanism for authenticating webmin users via ntml (with the goal being to allow "single-sign-in"). Hello Jamie, The server Monitor module is working great keeping services up if they go down for some reason. It's sometimes "over zealous" but that's fine. Is there a log or plans for a log that will let us see over time when the monitor had to run it's commands to restart services? Thanks, David Coley Codecipher |

Hi Sandeep, Webmin cannot setup Webalizer to report on your mail log as it is not a format the Webalizer supports. OK, problem solved. I did the following two things: 1) upgraded to latest version of webmin (1.270) 2) In the apache webserver module configuration file, I set the value of "Directory to create links in for new virtual servers" to "/etc/apache2/sites-enabled" On 6/15/06, Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...> wrote: > On 15/Jun/2006 19:03 Steve Dondley wrote .. > > I'm running Debian-Sarge, Webmin version 1.180 using apache2. > > > > When I go to create a new site on the server with virtualmin, I get a > > the following: > > > > Setting up log file rotation .. > > .. no logging directive found in Apache configuration! > > > > Not sure how to resolve this. Yes Asterfax has its own smtp daemon that they admit is not too secure. They tell you how to run it with sendmail on the same system by eating up another IP address. I did this already. But I am saying, forget that, why not just use Sendmail.
