no, it's "public". that is to say everybody in the LAN, with 192.168.x.x,
use the proxy without username and password.

Is this the problem?

and all went ok.

Now the problem is another: how can i show username in sarg report? Atm I
see 192.168.9.44 and so on.. but i want to show the username (written by me,
but where?).

I'd like to describe a fix to a Webmin/BIND problem we had, and see 
if anyone else has had a similar experience.

A few weeks ago, we started having a problem with Webmin being unable 
to shut down BIND on our OS X 10.4.7 machine. After working with 
Jamie, we determined that the problem was that immediately after 
killing the "named" process, a new "named" process was being created, 
which seemed like an OS X thing.

I had seen several descriptions of how to enable BIND on OS X Tiger, 
and they all suggested that in the LaunchDaemon plist, the "Disabled" 
key be changed from "true" to "false", after which BIND would load at 
startup. That's what we did, and it worked for several months, after 
which it seemed to spontaneously stop working.

What we ended up doing was making more changes to the LaunchDaemon 
plist, so that:
Disabled = false (as before)
OnDemand = true (so that new a "named" process would not be spawned 
after killing the old one)
RunAtLoad = true (we added this key, because with OnDemand = true, 
BIND would not start at machine startup)
and once again, BIND is working as we expect.

So...has anyone had similar experiences with BIND/named/Webmin?

[webmin-l] Apache for a single a static website

I am trying to setup Apache to host a single static website=2E=A0 I have=
 installed apache and see all the proper icons when I log into webmin=2E=
=A0 How do I load the pages from where I am making the webpages to the a=
pache server so they can be viewed=3F=A0 Apparently this is a simple thi=
ng to do=2C but I am just not getting it=A0 right now=2E

In your case, that message can be safely ignored. Because most people run spamassassin
from procmail, Webmin checks for this and can add it to /etc/procmailrc if missing. However,
if it is run from your mail server directly or via mailscanner, click on the Module
Config link and change the 'Display warning if SpamAssassin is not set up?' option to No.

You do not have to use Procmail and MailScanner works best with SpamAssas=

installed. Be sure to install CalmAV as well to fight viruses. You can al=
so look up=20
SARE rules, RulesDuJour, DCC, FuzzyOCR to help fight SPAM.

I just installed spam assassin, and in the webmin module get this message:

"SpamAssassin does not appear to be set up in the system's Procmail configuration file /etc/procmailrc, so any configuration done using this module will have no effect unless users have it set up individually."

Does this mean I can only use spamassassin with procmail?  I am currently running sendmail under mailscanner.  Any tips for combining the two, or do I need to choose to run one or the other?

Hey. I'm new to webmin, and I'm trying to figure out how to enable htaccess.

I think I have to edit httpd.conf but I'm not sure what to put in there, or 
what else I have to do. I'm using Version 1.220

 Can someone please help me here? I've built a website and can't go live until 
htacess is enabled for the whole domain, ie /var/www/landrec/html

and how do I solve the issue recorded in this error?

It is a module under the Others category, called Perl Modules. At the bottom
of the page is a form for installing new Perl modules from CPAN. You should
be able to just type in DBD::mysql, and it will do the rest..

This can happen if the MySQL client libraries are out of sync with the My=
SQL server on your system. The best solution is to upgrade the DBD::mysql=
 Perl module, which can be done using the Perl Modules page in Webmin.

The alternative is to tell Webmin to use it's own (slightly less reliable=
) code to talk to MySQL. This can be done by clicking on the Module Confi=
g link, and changing the 'Use DBI to connect' option to 'No'.

If that doesnt work, then there are plent of resources in google on how t=

setup rdnc and they key + the config if you have it in your named.conf fi=
le.

WEbmin doesnt always work perfectly using the Setup RNDC icon (at least n=

This can generally be fixed using the Setup RNDC icon on the main page of the BIND module. Recently I upgrade my VPS to Webmin 1.300. Since then whenever I try to
'Apply Changes' to edits made in a Master Zone file if Bind I get the
following error:

 

NDC command failed : rndc: connection to remote host closed This may
indicate that the remote server is using an older version of the command
protocol, this host is not authorized to connect, or the key is invalid.

 

This is also preventing any changes made to any of the record types except
for SPF.

 

My OS is CentOS 4.3. Bind version is 9.2.4.

 

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before and know how to
solve this.

This is a good thought-provoking idea. The main purpose of this Samba NAS is 
for Mondo backups, so the 'df' that I run now just before each ISO is 
written should do the trick, but doesn't always for some reason. A general 
'df' every 10 minutes or so in crontab would cause the log errors to go away 
also. I was hoping for a more technical solution, but the simple, obvious 
stuff is usually better as to 'fixing' things. I'm thinking of using this 
for Bacula also, and the cron job would probably take care of that also.
