This is webmin 1.890 on a Ubuntu 18.04 system. I just upgraded from 4GB to 16GB of ram yesterday. Ubuntu 18.04 uses a new network configuration system called netplan. Webmin does not yet fully support it (Webmin devel version 18.91 has some support, but there are still bugs and missing bits). You'll either need to switch to the previous network configuration scripts, or wait for support in Webmin to be finished. Configuring a reasonably new laptop (2017+) with Xubuntu 18.04.1.LTS, I ran into a snag when running Webmin and trying to go to Networking -> Linux Firewall: Rules file /etc/iptables.up.rules HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: MiniServ/1.890 Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2018 22:08:29 GMT Content-type: text/html; Charset=iso-8859-1 Connection: close Error - Perl execution failed Undefined subroutine &net::get_interface_defs called at debian-linux-lib.pl line 63. Not quite sure why as I've installed Webmin on previous laptops too (albeit not with any *Ubuntu 18.04 OS). The network interfaces are: enp0s31f6 lo wlp59s0 The wl559s0 is the currently active interface (WLAN) and has a valid IP address. enp0s31f6 is the LAN interface, but no cable is attached and no address has been assigned. Webmin installed just fine and behaves well in other modules. -joho |

I recently installed/updated to the most recent version of Clamwin on my server, and I am now receiving this error when going to the module to use it: WARNING: Your version of ClamAV is not compatible with this module. Please check that you have installed a recent enough version of ClamAV. I think I've tried this in the past. It's as if something gets "tangled" due to the number of monitors or something. Perhaps I should try to set it up on another server with identical monitor patterns and see if I then get exact duplicate reports, I should - if the server actually is down. If the server isn't down, I'm not sure why Webmin can't ping it. -joho |

The old system uses php-cgi/fcgid. The new system uses php-fpm. The "problem" with the new system is that it also supports php-cgi, or som Webmin thinks. This is probably due to me accidentally restoring Virtualmin settings as well (I've gotten confused about that in the past too). But I wanted Webmin/Virtualmin to "override" this and force the use of php-fpm upon import to the new system. Sorry if I was unclear. -joho |

I've set the default mode to PHP-FPM. On restore Virtualmin will use the default PHP execution mode, but only if the original mode from the backed-up domain isn't supported on your system. We use Webmin for basic monitoring of a number of servers. We usually set the check interval to somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on which server it is. Quite often, we'll get a "monitor down" for a server, at which point we check the server and find it to be very much up and running. On the next check, Webmin will again report the server (or monitor) to be up. We typically see this reported from "monitoring servers" that have a lot of checks defined. Could this somehow confuse Webmin or congest the network stack somehow? If this only happened once or on one server, I wouldn't worry so much about it. But we recently switched one of our "bigger" monitoring servers from one cloud platform to another, which completely different architecture behind it, and then re-created the monitors on the new server. Sure enough, pretty soon we began seeing false positives again. (By the way, it'd be nice if one could export monitors and then re-import them on another server) -joho |

Is there a way to force the use of PHP-FPM (over other variants) when restoring a backup of a Virtualmin site? For some reason, I managed to also import Virtualmin settings from another server while restoring a backup, and I can't seem to get rid of the other PHP versions in Virtualmin/Webmin. There is only PHP-FPM installed, but I wants to offer mod_php, fcgid, and php-fpm. I've set the default mode to PHP-FPM. -joho |

What default PHP execution mode do you have selected for new domains? This is set at System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default Settings -> Apache website. On 28/Jun/2018 13:52 Joaquim Homrighausen <jo...@we...> wrote .. After enabling mod_cgi, I could proceed with saving enabled features. Creating a new website generates this: "Performing other Apache configuration .. .. configuration failed : PHP configuration mode fpm was selected, but is not supported on this system!" Doing a virtualmin config check reveals the same, and it complains about mod_fcgid. Enabling it doesn't help either. Not sure why this is needed as proxy/proxy_fcgi seems to do the job if I configure Apache+PHP-FPM by hand. Sorry for the rant, but I really am/was expecting this to have been resolved by now :) mod_php, php cgi, and all these other methods of running PHP seems to be a bit "out of date" if you ask me. And turning to nginx instead of Apache isn't an option either since that doesn't really work well with Webmin/Virtualmin. -joho |

Greetings, Joaquim Homrighausen! > Sorry, I meant /etc/mysql/my.cnf of course :) > I'm surprised Webmin didn't detect it there in the first place. Greetings, Joaquim Homrighausen! > Not sure why it didn't find it, but I looked at the module configuration, > and it had some weird path for the MySQL configuration file. > When I manually changed it to /etc/my.cnf That's unusual. For Debian, normal location for MySQL configuration is /etc/mysql/my.cnf > and then did a "Refresh modules", > the MySQL module properly appeared where it should. > (I did not do anything prior to this, it was an out-of-the-box > installation, albeit Percona instead of MySQL) -- With best regards, Andrey Repin Friday, June 29, 2018 11:54:23 Sorry for my terrible english... |
