Hello, can I and if so how can I adjust, that each virtual server admin has no e-mail account, but at most FTP and SSH? A virtual server admin should not be able to activate a primary e-mail address in his user. Additional users in the domain should normally have e-mail access. |

When creating new Virtualmin servers, I get: "Performing other Apache configuration .. .. configuration failed : PHP configuration mode fpm was selected, but is not supported on this system!" When I go to PHP configuration, I get: "No PHP configuration files were found. Adjust the module configuration to set the correct path to the global PHP config file." If I "correct" the path to /etc/php/7.2/fpm/php.ini, it accepts that. (It seems to default to /etc/php5..., even though that directory does not exist) If then go back to the site in Virtualmin and click PHP Versions, I get: "Your system only has PHP version 7.2.10 installed, so selecting a different version for each directory is not possible." If I delete the site and try to re-create it, the error message has changed to: "Performing other Apache configuration .. .. configuration failed : PHP configuration mode fpm was selected, but is not supported on this system!" The following relevant Apache modules are enabled: actions cgid mpm_event proxy_fcgi What am I doing wrong? -joho |

Oops, I was wrong. Everything is working fine. Just create a new VirtualHost on port 443, and it'll have the option to enable SSL in the SSL Options page. That's a little unintuitive, but it's workable. It's possible with just Webmin, but it's punishing yourself to do it without Virtualmin. I'm not sure exactly what the linked tutorial is trying to do, but the right way to create an SSL virtual host in Webmin is to create a new VirtualHost on port 443 with SSL enabled, not to enable it on an existing port 80 VirtualHost. Each VirtualHost section is independent...which is one of the reasons it's easier to use Virtualmin, since it treats everything in a domain account as related. There are docs about managing SSL in Webmin here: https://doxfer.webmin.com/Webmin/Apache_Webserver#Setting_up_SSL Though it looks like Webmin is incorrectly detecting the presence of mod_ssl, at least on some systems. So...that's a bug. A new one, probably in 1.900, since surely someone would have noticed before now if the problem had been present for a while. I've filed a ticket here: https://github.com/webmin/webmin/issues/995 On 11/26/18 1:06 PM, Michael Schwarz wrote: > Hello Michael > > This option will possible be only in virtualmin. The way webmin writes all config files is it creates another file in the same directory as the one being replaced, then renames it over the original file in a single operation. This prevents situations where writing to a file fails part-way through leading to an incomplete config. - Jamie On 12/Nov/2018 06:34 Marcus Frenkel <mar...@gm...> wrote .. Hello, Question to Webmin devs. I need to know how Webmin writes to BIND files when config or zone is modified from the GUI, specifically I'm interested for these files: 1. /etc/bind/named.conf.local 2. /var/lib/bind/* Does it modifies the file in place or it replaces the file with new one at once? We run rsync to backup these files. Normally, if the file is being written to, rsync will copy whatever data is there, no matter if the process of writing is not completed. If Webmin updates the files by modifying the file in couple of writes, the backup will contain incomplete files. Thank you in advance! |

Hello: I have a server running webmin 1.890 only, no virtualmin, no usermin etc; just webmin. I used the Let's Encrypt thingy to apply a certificate to a website running under Nginx. Also I set the auto-renew thing but the certificate failed to renew. I did it manually and restarted Nginx and all was good to go. Is this an issue with Let's Encrypt webmin thingy or is it due to other things and I should not expect the certificate to auto-renew? |

Hi, I'm running Webmin 1.890 on Debian 9, with mysql version 10.1.26 I'm trying to create a batch of users with access to mysql, if I create the user with the form or use a batch file I get an error message like so: SQL set password for 'usernamehere'@'' = password('somepassword') failed : Can't find any matching row in the user table However the user has been created on the system and MySQL without a problem (tested the credentials with mysql -u username -p) When I was creating users via the form it wasn't too much of a big deal but it seems that this error is stopping the batch of users being created, so if I paste or submit a file of 100 users to create - the system will only create the user specified on the first line. Appreciate any help in this matter. Kind Regards, William |

On a host where I had not had reason to access Webmin in quite some time, I'm now getting a "Error - Access denied for <ip address>". I have re-started webmin I have checked miniserv.users I have checked other logfiles (they only say the same thing "[05/Oct/2018:09:30:02 +0200] [123.123.123.123] Access denied for 123.123.123.123" /var/webmin/blocked is empty Nothing in hosts.deny I've tried with a different browser I've upgraded Webmin from CLI from 1.860 to 1.890 I cannot seem to figure out WHY this IP is blocked. I've had this IP address for four years, and very rarely access Webmin from it. SSH is set to key based authentication only. The only slight hint of an issue I can see is in /var/log/auth.log where I get: Oct 5 09:25:06 abcdhost perl: pam_unix(webmin:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=root Oct 5 09:25:08 abcdhost webmin[30042]: Webmin starting Oct 5 09:25:41 abcdhost perl: pam_unix(webmin:auth): authentication failure; logname=root uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=root Oct 5 09:25:42 abcdhost webmin[30088]: Webmin starting -joho |

I recently installed webmin 1.890 and trying to configure the DNS server it turns out that it does not forward the addresses to me. When I review the configuration file it has this inside forwarder { x.x.x.x; x.x.x.x; } in my case it is because I have two external servers to which I can forward the addresses, but he is not able to forward me the addresses, could someone help me? Using Webmin 1.890 on Centos 6.1. I cannot find, nor enable the filemin module, only the old java-based filemanager is visible. So, what is it I am doing wrong here. Mvh Tomas Larsson |

Im not 100% sure about webmin but virtualmin installer script install.sh disables selinux permanently. That's why i suggested to set selinux to permissive and create a custom policy from selinux logs (at least im doing it with virtualmin its quite time consuming tho). If you check selinux logs at /var/log/audit/audit.log and see "avc: denied ..." when you try to start or restart webmin it means there is no selinux policy for it so either disable selinux permanently or set it to permissive. Webmin will produce then lots of log lines in said log file. Using selinux tools create a policy from those logs and activate it changing selinux to enforcing. After that try restarting webmin and check if all functionality you need works correctly. If not back to permissive try to perform all needed actions in webmin once and modify selinux policy using new auditlog entries then apply and check. After a couple of runs the policy should be complete and webmin should be able to work with selinux enabled. You might also need to relabel webmin files if they lack proper selinux labels. Fiew things to check on centos 1) Is selinux active if yes either set it to permissive and based on log data create a custom policy for webmin (im not 100% sure for webmin but virtualmin disables selinux compleetly during install) or disable selinux altogether. 2) check if zone public is assigned to your public interface (public is just a name and can be assigned to any or no interface). Hi,I have installed webmin on Centos 7 machine. It has FQDN and SSL. I can visit the website I have defined in /var/www/html.
