Hi John, Even though it is a bit odd to reply to my own message, I just thought you might want to know that I have just added this feature to webmin, and it will be in version 1.110. If you edit /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf and add lines like login_script=/path/to/script/to/run/at/login logout_script=/path/to/script/to/run/at/logout and re-start webmin, those scripts will be run whenever a user logs in out out. Each will be passed the username, session ID, client IP address and local IP address as parameters. This will only work when webmin is in the default cookie-based authentication mode though, as HTTP authentication has no concept of logins and logouts. - Jamie On Wed, 2003-09-10 at 09:01, Jamie Cameron wrote: > Currently, no - you'd need to modify the miniserv.pl script directly to > call your own code at the appropriate times. I agree that this is a potential problem, but fortunately it doesn't seem to cause any trouble in reality as all browsers that I've seen can handle single-byte characters like =E4. The only proper solution would be for the default theme to convert all escaped entities into their single-byte format before rendering titles. This would be trivial if I could find a list of all HTML entities and their corresponding special characters .. - Jamie On Wed, 2003-09-10 at 16:27, Martin Mewes wrote: > Howdy folks, >=20 > Dieter from www.webmin.de pointed me to a problem which may come up if > we use named entities for things like >=20 > index_title=3DSSH/Telnet Login & & & & =E4 =F6 =FC =DF >=20 > Please review >=20 > http://server.mamemu.de:30000/telnet/ >=20 > to actually see what he means. > You can also view the Mozilla-Screenshot here: > http://webmin.mamemu.de/trans-images/named-entities-in-title/image001.jpg >=20 > The title in the Old-Webmin-Theme is shown up as images. > In this case I tried to handle out which different browsers can work > best with various ways of HTML-entities for "&" for future common use > in all translations. >=20 > a) Well easiest thing would be to ged rid of the Old-Webmin-Theme ;-) > b) Is it possible to patch that theme in order to show things correct? >=20 > If we would leave that line "as is" like >=20 > index_title=3DGeplante Cron-Auftr=E4ge >=20 > things will show up correct in the Old-Webmin-Theme, but may not if > the title is shown as simple text. >=20 > Hope I pointed out the problem right. >=20 >=20 > kind regards >=20 > Martin Mewes >=20 > --=20 > Novacote Flexpack - Division of COIM Deutschland GmbH > c/o IT/IS-Department - Hamburg - Germany >=20 >=20 > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > Welcome to geek heaven. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > - > Forwarded by the Webmin development list at web...@we... > To remove yourself from this list, go to > http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/webadmin-devel |

If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps :=20 Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people.=20 In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=3Dsw,titles=3D1,charset=3Diso-6666-6 Swahili The lang=3D part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The titles=3D part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work.=20 You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially.=20 When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. Hi all, I've tryied to figure out how to use the localization for a theme I'm currently working on. It seems that localization is only available for modules, isn't it ? In this case, how can I enable this functionnality for themes ? I don't want to overwrite the modules 'lang' settings and would like to include this translation with the package ... Rewrinting the translation stuff in my lib is the only way to achieve this ? Next question is about the session_login.cgi file. I made a new one that follow the theme precedently talken about. This session_login.cgi file is located in the theme folder as described in the forum. Apparently, it is impossible to include files from this theme (like images, css, ...) in order to make them appear on the login page. Is it a limitation of the miniserv server (acls) ? How to override this ? I know that I can use a pre-login HTML page which would post to the session.cgi file but think that the limitation will also apply to it ... Voila !! By the way and only for the curious ones, you can give me a feedback on the theme :) Redmin theme @ http://oss.dabonneville.org/webmin/1.png http://oss.dabonneville.org/webmin/2.png --- Thibaut Dabonneville |

Howdy folks, Dieter from www.webmin.de pointed me to a problem which may come up if we use named entities for things like index_title=3DSSH/Telnet Login & & & & =E4 =F6 =FC =DF Please review http://server.mamemu.de:30000/telnet/ to actually see what he means. You can also view the Mozilla-Screenshot here: http://webmin.mamemu.de/trans-images/named-entities-in-title/image001.jpg The title in the Old-Webmin-Theme is shown up as images. In this case I tried to handle out which different browsers can work best with various ways of HTML-entities for "&" for future common use in all translations. a) Well easiest thing would be to ged rid of the Old-Webmin-Theme ;-) b) Is it possible to patch that theme in order to show things correct? If we would leave that line "as is" like index_title=3DGeplante Cron-Auftr=E4ge things will show up correct in the Old-Webmin-Theme, but may not if the title is shown as simple text. Hope I pointed out the problem right. kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 Novacote Flexpack - Division of COIM Deutschland GmbH c/o IT/IS-Department - Hamburg - Germany |

Unfortunately there isn't really any way to implement something like that, as it is hard to detect if a web user has 'left' a page and gone to some totally different website, or is just sitting there looking at it. Maybe you could write some code that uses the $session_id variable to update a file of locks and uses timeouts to prevent locks from being held too long ... but there is no support or standard functions for this kind of locking built into webmin. I did consider it at one point, but gave up because it was too hard! - Jamie On Wed, 2003-09-10 at 00:43, John Horne wrote: > Hello, > > Second question! Currently, no - you'd need to modify the miniserv.pl script directly to call your own code at the appropriate times. However, this is quite a good idea for a new feature to add for a future version (along with a script to be run at login time). - Jamie On Wed, 2003-09-10 at 00:04, John Horne wrote: > Hello, > > Is it possible to get webmin to run some sort of script/process when the > auto-logout feature kicks in? Hello, Second question! Is it possible to detect from within a module whether there are any other people using the same module on the same server? I am trying to revamp the dynbind third-party module for BIND version 9, and allowing for dynamic and static updates. The static bit works on files, which can be locked, as with BIND 8, so that is not really a problem. However, (a) the named.conf file could change if there is more than one local user using the module - the result is that the wrong options or zone can be displayed; (b) with dynamic zones updates can occur whilst a user things they are looking at the 'current' state of the zone. If they change a record, then it may have already changed whilst they were looking at it! Very awkward. Either I need to take a snapshot of the dynamic zone - hence my first question about files and logging out - or I need to determine if there are any other users using webmin at the same time. Hello, Is it possible to get webmin to run some sort of script/process when the auto-logout feature kicks in? I need to create some temporary files, but do not want these left lying around when the user hits the logout button or the auto-logout occurs. Just exiting the browser is an alternative 'exit method' which I cannot decide what to do about (yet). I'm using webmin 1.090. Hi Jamie, Could you point me to code I can use to display the output of a command to a web page. What I am looking to do is issue a restart of SpamAssassin and would like to display the output. [dude@host user]# /etc/init.d/spamassassin restart Shutting down spamd: [ OK ] Starting spamd: [ OK ] Thanks, Larry |

Sounds good .. I've actually just released the 1.109 development version of webmin, which contains all of the features that will be in the 1.110 stable release. Translators or potential testers are encouraged to download it from http://www.webmin.com/devel.html and try it out. Unless some really serious problem is found, the 1.100 release will come out in about a week .. This development version fixes the annoying problem that some IE users were having, thanks to Marius Popovici who gave me remote access to a system experiencing the problem. - Jamie |

The script I use is called "keep your eyes on webmin" ;-) In fact I nearly watch daily on my mirror and will actually see it at least 24 hours later ... I always do a RPM-Upgrade with Webmin then and go ahead. The only thing I need to know for sure is part c) of this agreed sequence. I have submitted your eMail-Adress to webmin-trans, so that you can do Official Announcements to this list as well without receiving the list itself. Let's start this sequence after the release of the next "stable". Makes things easier I guess. kind regards Martin -- http://webmin.mamemu.de/ WebMin-Mirror http://webmin.mamemu.de/download.html WebMin Translations Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 http://www.webmin.com/mailing-trans.html |

I think the second sequence sounds best .. Should I notify you when I put out a devel release, or do you have some script to delete it automatically? - Jamie |

Yeah, that is the exact problem! A normal user login should be enough for me to work out the cause .. - Jamie On Fri, 2003-09-05 at 21:18, Marius Popovici wrote: > I think I can help you with reproducing this nasty bug. I think I can help you with reproducing this nasty bug. I have come upon it just a few weeks ago and it fits your description very well. Let me explain what happens on my system: everything works fine with Mozilla, Konqueror, Netscape and Opera but when submitting a form with Internet Explorer users get a "Cannot display page" in return. This doesn't happen all the time but it does in 90% of the submits. I have managed to avoid this bug by converting submit methods from POST to GET but this isn't a good solution for I have some forms with a large number of inputs and GET can't always handle that many data. I thought the problems are in my CGI but I noticed that this happens in forms from all modules even with small amounts of input controls. At last :) I have noticed that this happens only on my machine (running Slackware 9.0) and it works just fine when installed on SUSE or something else. Hope, this helps. I can help you with a remote login on my machine if you are interested, but we have to agree on a schedule because the machine in question is my home computer and it's not always up. OK, so I think there is no further negotiating needed as long as we can agree to this: a) I will announce _all_ "devel"'s to Webmin-Trans-List. b) Its up to the translators if they catch it or not. c) Jamie kindly announces a date for the next "stable". d) I will check in the latest translations two days in advance. e) Upcoming translations will belong to the next "stable". or a) I will announce _all_ "devel"'s to Webmin-Trans-List. b) Its up to the translators if they catch it or not. c) Jamie kindly announces a date for the last "devel" before "stable". d) I will check in the latest translations two days afterwards. e) Upcoming translations will belong to the next "stable". kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 Novacote Flexpack - Division of COIM Deutschland GmbH c/o IT/IS-Department - Hamburg - Germany |

I don't really have a fixed schedule for releasing stable or development versions. But typically 1-2 months will elapse between each stable release that gets listed on www.webmin.com (currently 1.100). And a new devel release made available at www.webmin.com/devel.html about every 1-2 weeks (the current one being 1.107).. Typically, I will create and announce a development version about a week prior to the next stable release so that people can test it out, and so that translators can make any last minute features. Ideally, no changes will be made between this pre-release version and the next stable release. I do plan to put the next stable version 1.110 out quite soon - I just need to squash a bug that is causing problems for some IE users when submitting forms. Unfortunately it never happens on my test systems, so if anyone out there is seeing this problem and doesn't mind giving me a remote login to their systems, let me know! - Jamie On Fri, 2003-09-05 at 04:15, Martin Mewes wrote: > Hi all, > > I need to understand if we can activate some "methods" so that > translators and, of course, myself have some time to translate > things. > > Before we start to negotiate I would like to know if there already is > something we can depend on.
