Hi all, I need to understand if we can activate some "methods" so that translators and, of course, myself have some time to translate things. Before we start to negotiate I would like to know if there already is something we can depend on. This could be, that Jamie does a "devel" only once a week or that there are two weeks between the last "devel" and the next "stable" or something like this. Anyway I think it is important to tell the folks on the Webmin-Website that the most up2date translations are only involved in the "stable" and there will be no trans-updates in "devel". Questions, comments, side-remarks to this idea/these ideas are welcomed. Have a lot of fun :-) Martin -- http://webmin.mamemu.de/ WebMin-Mirror http://webmin.mamemu.de/download.html WebMin Translations Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 http://www.webmin.com/mailing-trans.html |

Hi Webmin developers, I'm pleased to announce that Martin Mewes has volunteered to become the 'Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator'. This means he will be taking in any new translations from contributors, merging them together and sending them to me in preparation for each new release. In future, all translation patches should be sent to Martin at we...@we... instead of to me. For more information, see http://www.webmin.com/mailing-trans.html .. or email me or the list. - Jamie |

Make sure that when you run your CGI scripts from the command line, you use a full path like /usr/libexec/webmin/yourmodule/something.cgi instead of just ./something.cgi . Webmin's init_config function uses the path to work out the root directory and module name, and produces that cryptic message if it cannot .. - Jamie |

Jamie,=20 I understand your point about compatibility, but let me make sure one thing. AFAIK, JDK 1.1 does support *Reader classes. Do you mean JDK 1.0? If so, adding the charsets decoding support to LineInputStream would be quite a lot of work (because it is just re-implementing *Reader classes),=20 so I prefer to implement as follows: - implement our own wrapper Reader class. - the wrapper class tries to load and instantiate *Reader classes and works as my previous patch does if it's succeeded. - if it's failed with throwing either NoClassFound or UnsupportedEncoding exception,=20 the wrapper uses LineInputStream class instead. In this case, some international=20 languages won't be displayed correctly and we live with this as "spec" in JDK 1.0 browser. I'm going to modify the code so if it's all right. By the way, do you know any versions of browser that runs JDK 1.0 applets and=20 can be obtained today? I tried but I couldn't find any ones around me so... I'm trying to set up a testing environment so I can build unit tests that don't require going through HTTP. Has anyone done this already and if so, would you share it? I'm having a heck of a time doing it myself. I know I can write tests that use WWW::Mechanize or a similar mechanism, and probably will for acceptance tests, but I want to write simpler tests to do things like instantiate objects. My test script keeps dying with "Failed to determine Webmin root from SERVER_ROOT or SCRIPT_FILENAME"; I've written code to fill %ENV with all the same data as a CGI script and dumped %ENV and know it's all there, but to no avail. I've tracked the problem so far down to that init_config is unable to produce a @lang_order_list with data and will continue beating on it. Wil --=20 Wil Cooley wc...@na... That's a very useful patch, as supporting non-european characters in the file manager Java applet has always stumped me (due to Java's use of Unicode vs. various other encodings for the rest of webmin). However, there is one problems with your patch - it makes use of some *Reader classes that are not available in Java 1.1, and I want to make sure the applet remains compatible with that version of Java due to the large number of web browsers out there with support only for that old version.. Any chance you could modify it to make use of LineInputStream again? - Jamie On Tue, 2003-08-19 at 16:09, Keisuke Mori wrote: > Hi, > > FileManager seems to have a problem on displaying > international language texts on icons and buttons of the > Java Applet. Hi,
FileManager seems to have a problem on displaying=20
international language texts on icons and buttons of the=20
Java Applet. Garbage strings are displayed on the icons when
language setting is changed to other than English. (e.g. Japanese in my
case)
I'm sending a patch as my suggestion of fixing this problem.
This patch fixes as follows:
- lang.cgi returns the current charset in Content-type: header.
- FileManager.get_text() retrieves the charset and decode=20
the icon texts accordingly.
- LineInputStream class is no longer needed.
- corrects one Japanese translation error
I hope it helps.
Thank you.

This is why I cc'ed the Author as well ;-) a) Which Information should be available? Shall this be only a technical overview (IP, Subnet, Hostname ...) or something else in addition (sendmail-Version installed with x eMail-Domains, apache-Version installed serving x virtual hosts ...). b) Where shall this Module be located in Webmin? I would suggest "System". I would name this module "Overview". b) Can someone contribute a little graphic for the module? Well, I figured it out. Should have taken a nap earlier. I just needed to use qw() for the email address. I also noticed that qw() is only need in the shell environment but not in Webmin. So I only had problems running something like sed from a system() call. #################### #!/usr/bin/perl use Tie::File; tie @lines, "Tie::File", "/home/dude/tmp/test"; $email = qw(du...@we...); splice(@lines, 2, 1, "TEST=$email"); untie @lines; #################### Thanks to anyone who spent time with this! --Larry |

I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to lend an idea. I am
trying to preserve the format of a text file. When I submit a form via
Webmin I want the result to save to this file by replacing the appropriate
entry. I have tried a lot of methods and fail at one specific point.
Here is my test script:
####################
#!/usr/bin/perl
use Tie::File;
tie @lines, "Tie::File", "/home/dude/tmp/test";
splice(@lines, 2, 1, "TEST=du...@we...");
untie @lines;
####################
You can probably see that my problem is the @ character for the Email
address. Perl wants to interpret @ as a metacharacter. While this is a
simple script, this will eventually be input from the web for $in{'notify'}.
Any thoughts how I can get this done correctly? I am not using
&replace_file_lines() as I have about 28 substitutions. Anything I try
using the format 's/old/new/'. "perl -p -I -e" and "sed 's/old/new/'" do
work but I hate to keep writing to the file after each change (28).
TIA for any help!

That should work OK as well, as usermin does not use trick of writing to a temp file and then re-naming it to the original mailbox when deleting .. at least, not yet. - Jamie |

We will always have a ~/Junk mbox. This has to exist for all of the other stuff to work (including IMAP users, etc.). I thought of creating a symbolic link to that from ~/mail, which also seems to work. That's all Usermin needs, and there is no function for simplifying folder addition (although the read_file and write_file standard functions make editing name=value files like that easier). By the way, you could also add a folder by creating a file in ~/mail , since everything in that directory is automatically picked up by Usermin. > I notice there is also an index cache file in the directory...is that > generated automatically, or do I need to trigger the first generation of > it when adding the folder? Those index files get generated automatically to speed up access to the mailbox .. - Jamie |

Hi Jamie, I have developed a spam filter Usermin module (frontend for SpamBayes, SpamBouncer, and some custom Procmail recipes), and the way it is trained is by moving spams into a Junk mbox in the users home directory. If I add this folder manually to the Usermin folders using the Manage folders page, things work fine, and I'm able to dump spams into the box using Usermin. Is there a reasonably standard way I can add this box to the boxes managed by the mailbox module when the user first enables the spam filtering module? I see the following in the .usermin/mailbox/config file: mailboxes=/home/joe/Junk folder_/home/joe/Junk=Junk Is this all Usermin needs? Is there a routine I should call, or just add it via parsing the config file myself? I notice there is also an index cache file in the directory...is that generated automatically, or do I need to trigger the first generation of it when adding the folder?
