Vim :Help shows the following TOC. I marked 'Chinese' on those parts that should be translated into Chinese, and 'Optional' on those parts that are worth translation if we have rich resources. Under the line where I marked 'Maximum cut', I just cannot imagine any team would be able to accomplish that much on voluntary basis. I absolutely aggree with Lang2 that we must finish up the User Manual as soon as possible, so that we can make a release announcement and hear some feedback from the user community. We'll decide whether or not continue with parts of Ref manual based upon the feedback. Basic (Chinese) User Manual (Chinese) --------------------------- Best cut here ------- Reference Manual General Subjects (Optional) Basic editing (Optional) Advanced editing (Optional) ---------------------------- Maximum cut here ---- Special issues ( Don't touch it ) GUI ( Don't touch it ) Interfaces ( Don't touch it ) Versions ( Don't touch it ) Remarks about specific systems ( Don't touch it ) Standard plug-ins ( Don't touch it ) --- lang2 <wzh...@po...> wrote: > Hi all, > > It has all gone very quiet these days with C.Y gone > and > wandys nowhere to be found and .. Hi all, It has all gone very quiet these days with C.Y gone and wandys nowhere to be found and .. I've been lazy myself. OK. For the foreesable future developement of this project, I think we should concentrate on getting those usr_??.txt finished _and polished_. We've gone to 41 so far and snoopy is taking on usr_45.txt. We are not far from this goal. Our last release was 0.1, which was dated last december. Next release will be when we finish these files. For myself, I will be finishing the 41.txt and review the existing documents. All the best. lang2 |

hi all: Happy new year! I come back again. I'm sorry to hear that we loose C.Y in the new year . He is an excellent member in our team and has done a lot of hard work . Good luck,C.Y ! Thanks lang2 to review and update usr_25.txt ,by reason of the fool mistakes I have made , lang2 has to spend more time to check my punk work . I have a guilty conscience . BTW,I'll take usr_45.txt if no one has taken it. Rgds snoopy _________________________________________________________________ 享用世界上最大的电子邮件系统― MSN Hotmail。 http://www.hotmail.com |

C. Y. I hope it wasn't my e-mail that pushed you away from us. ;) Only joking. I thought this would come anyway. Well it is really a pity to loose one of our most pctive/productive member. But I can understand. It can be hair-pulling some time. I think even Linus himself can't "have fun" all the time. That suggestion sounds great. I saw you post already. Maybe you can re-post that to a top-thread? Best of luck to you. lang2, On Tue, 28 Jan 2003 10:19:07 -0800 (PST) chimin yen <ych...@ya...> wrote: > Makes sense. I'll keep it in mind. > > > PS. Makes sense. I'll keep it in mind. PS. I've completed 8 chapters so far, all in "Editing Effectively" section of user's manual. The work has taken up all my spare time in the last two months or so. After the Spring Festival, I'll be busy with other projects, therefore, I'm afraid of being unable to go any further with vimcdoc. However, correction and revision of those 8 chapters will be still my resposibility. Translation is sometimes interesting, and other times painful. When stucked somewhere in the text, one would wish to have a public forum to discuss issues, exchange ideas, and help each other. I recently found a place from Linuxforum, that is the old CMAN Page board, which has been quiet for a long time. Why don't we suggest David to make it more general board for doc translation. I know there are other teams on other doc translation. Those people, including us, all need a place to get together. Well, just my wish. Best wishes to all of you during this warm Spring Festival season! Vimcdoc project will always be my best memory. C.Y. CY, I've noticed that you checked in some files. Since the cvs log message said 'comepleted' and they were already 'completed.', I had to go 'cvs diff' them to see the changes. Could I ask you in the future to be more explicit in cvs log messages? Thanks, lang2 ps. This mail is intentionally sent to the mailing list in case someone else were about to do something similiar. But then again, as wandys said, we are writing in Chinese after all. And what concerns me more is that the Enlish ones weren't properly used. Too often is the space after ',' and '.' forgotten and make the text really hard to read. So I'd go with Chinese ones. But don't use them excesively. lang2 |

Agree. You're our Editor-in-Chief and the only person to make final decision. On some issues, however, you're not decisive enough, e.g. punctuation. (I used English puncs for all based upon (1) Chinese puncs often messed up the text, (2) I could use the origial puncs, and (3) English puncs look better than Chinase ones, strange, eh? ) > I'd rather have no translation than > have a bad one. Well said!!! Make this manual popular in vim user community, make our work some real value, make all of us remembered by vim users. --- lang2 <wzh...@po...> wrote: > Hi all, > > After reviewing and updating 'usr_25.txt', I have a > few > thoughts that I want to share. > > 1. Hi all, After reviewing and updating 'usr_25.txt', I have a few thoughts that I want to share. 1. I had been less active for a while, thus, leaving the guide.txt and dict.txt outdated. Some of the guidelines we agreed on wasn't reflected in that file. That led to a lot of re-work. (E.g I spend a lot of time changing english ',' into chinese ones.) I apologize for that. 2. Still, not all the rules are followed. So I'd much appreciate it if we all keep an eye on update of the guide.txt (cvs diff guides.txt) and follow/make suggestion to it. 3. I found out that review is rather necessary. We should keep on doing this. It is vital for us to make the translation correct. I'd rather have no translation than have a bad one. I will go through all the usr_*txt myself. If you feel like go 'picky' for a little while, review some of the files. 4. When you finished a file, don't rush to claim it is done. Please read it through at least once to see if there is anything obvious, like missing a line or two, typo, etc. OK. I guess at this stage you all had enough of me bitching. So let me stop here. As always, any comments, discussion more than welcomed. Rgds, lang2 |

Hi all, Maybe you have noticed already. I've checked in a few updated documents, incluinding README, INSTALL, etc. I'd like you to read them, especially guide.txt. Please try to stick with the rules therein. These rules are agreed upon by most of the developers and will make the output look alike. Of course, there could be something silly in those documents as well. Please raise your comments for future improvement. Rgds, lang2 |
