We have been using Unreal 3.0 morrigan fix for a while now but lately every time someone tryies to connect it wont resolve thier hostname and has to use the ip address. I appologise no one has responded, but for everyones benefit here is the answer, in order to reduce the load on a server, if it is sending or recieving too much data it goes into something called HTM high traffic mode, this reduces the ammount of data that users can request, ie, in htm you as a normal uyser can not do a /list and others .. however, if you are the only user on the network, it seams that your services are having a little problem, my advice is to recompile them in debug mode and start them, with logging on, and contact the author ... and send us a copy as well Thanks David Flynn --------------------------------------- The information in this e-mail and any files sent with it is confidential to the ordinary user of the e-mail address to which it was addressed and may also be legally privileged. Hello All-- This is one of the weirdest things that I have ever seen before.. When I log onto my server and then do I /whois on me I get the following: Brad-AWAY is admin@` * Brad Brad-AWAY is using modes +oiwghskaNfrxebWt Brad-AWAY is connecting from *@irc.chatroom.org Brad-AWAY is a registered nick Brad-AWAY using irc.chatroom.org - it's not just a chat, it's a way of living Brad-AWAY is a Network Administrator on CRDO Brad-AWAY is available for help. Brad-AWAY has been idle 3mins 23secs, signed on Mon Jun 12 22:05:31 Brad-AWAY End of /WHOIS list. Notice the admin@` ... One would think that it wasn't reading anything from my template.networks file, but this isn't the case. I know it is reading from it because when regular users are cloaked it has the hidden_host that I chose in the file.. It also does the same thing for any other form of opers. What could cause this? Thank You, Brad |

With +I set, normal users are not supposted to see a join message when a +I user joins the channel. Or a part message. Thats the whole purpose of setting the Invisable mode. Admins will recieve a notice however, when such a person joins or parts a channel, but will not see them on the channel names list. I forget which, NetAdmin, or TechAdmin, can actually see an invisable user join the channel and see thier nick on the channel names list, but they dont recieve the notice. > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Juan Jose Porras Thomasa" <ju...@ma...> >To: <unr...@li...> >Sent: Friday, June 09, 2000 12:53 PM >Subject: [Unreal-users] Problems with Ircop mode +I > > >> >> Hi, we use Unreal with a heavily changed Magick-based services, we have >> found that if a TechAdmin using that mode enters a channel where his/her >> name is in the access list, the Services still give him/her the level it >> has, many people thought the mode was not working but it was simply that >> people in channel read something like this: >> >> 18:28: *** Llor69 has left channel #univers >> 18:28: *** Mode change "+o Llor69" on #Univers by C >> >> Check, no join channel message, but you see a nick being opped by the >> Services, maybe that was the problem I read before about the mode not >> working. >> >> I am neither a coder nor a programmer but I suppose the solution to this >is >> to get the Bots to ignore either the nicks with the Ircop mode activated >> (DANGEROUS) or ignore the nicks with the +I activated (anyway that chat >is >> not IRCD related so I will not comment much more about it here) >> >> Juan Jose Porras Thomasa >> >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Unreal-users mailing list >> Unr...@li... >> http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/unreal-users >> > > >_______________________________________________ >Unreal-users mailing list >Unr...@li... >http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/unreal-users +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The coolest site for free home pages, email, chat, e-cards, movie info.. | | http://www.goplay.com - it's time to Go Play! | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |

First of all, edit the 'template.network' file found in the network directory. In this file u set the ircop hosts that they get when they oper. Also make sure u set iNAH=1 to enable the hosts. Now just save it as something like 'yournetworkname.network' Now, i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but it worked on our server. Give everyone the +H flag in their Oline. Our hosts didnt work until we did that, so i assume it has something to do with it. In your services you could make them keep a record of who is +I, when a +I user joins a channel, you can make it not set any modes on them using a test to see if the have +I set -- codemastr ----- Original Message ----- From: "Juan Jose Porras Thomasa" <ju...@ma...> To: <unr...@li...> Sent: Friday, June 09, 2000 12:53 PM Subject: [Unreal-users] Problems with Ircop mode +I > > Hi, we use Unreal with a heavily changed Magick-based services, we have > found that if a TechAdmin using that mode enters a channel where his/her > name is in the access list, the Services still give him/her the level it > has, many people thought the mode was not working but it was simply that > people in channel read something like this: > > 18:28: *** Llor69 has left channel #univers > 18:28: *** Mode change "+o Llor69" on #Univers by C > > Check, no join channel message, but you see a nick being opped by the > Services, maybe that was the problem I read before about the mode not > working. > > I am neither a coder nor a programmer but I suppose the solution to this is > to get the Bots to ignore either the nicks with the Ircop mode activated > (DANGEROUS) or ignore the nicks with the +I activated (anyway that chat is > not IRCD related so I will not comment much more about it here) > > Juan Jose Porras Thomasa > > > > _______________________________________________ > Unreal-users mailing list > Unr...@li... > http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/unreal-users > |

Hi, we use Unreal with a heavily changed Magick-based services, we have found that if a TechAdmin using that mode enters a channel where his/her name is in the access list, the Services still give him/her the level it has, many people thought the mode was not working but it was simply that people in channel read something like this: 18:28: *** Llor69 has left channel #univers 18:28: *** Mode change "+o Llor69" on #Univers by C Check, no join channel message, but you see a nick being opped by the Services, maybe that was the problem I read before about the mode not working. I am neither a coder nor a programmer but I suppose the solution to this is to get the Bots to ignore either the nicks with the Ircop mode activated (DANGEROUS) or ignore the nicks with the +I activated (anyway that chat is not IRCD related so I will not comment much more about it here) Juan Jose Porras Thomasa |
