Heyas, I assume this is 3.0 you run. When a user connects/disconnects quickly enough, it generates an error, which in 3.1 is ignored (nothing to worry about really). As it cannot retrieve data about the client, it shows the local port it tried to connect at. Its simply ignore warning ;) -Stskeeps --------------------------------------------------------------------- Carsten V. Hi there, I've been looking through various configuration files tonight as I want to change some info that is displayed on users. Instead of displaying the standard "<nickname> is an IRCop on <servername>" I would like to replace this with text of my own choice. Naturally I would like to change the info for Admin, CoAdmin, and NetAdmin as well. Can I do this and how? Thanks in advance. Bryan. ----------------------------------------------- FREE! If you find services as much good as CS5.1, tell me plz. I'll repeat a post I made recently on this subject: At ChatCircuit, we use "IRC Services" with a patch to support Unreal's +x host-mangling feature. http://ender.shadowfire.org/ircservices/ If you want the patch, e-mail me privately and I'll send you a copy. IRC Services is one of the most widely-used Services versions, in use on a large number of small networks/servers and several larger ones. It has powerful NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ and OperServ facilities, all of which have full help built-in. It isn't directly supported for use with Unreal, but it works well with my patch installed (which uses a couple of functions yanked from Unreal itself). I understand someone is developing full support for Unreal, using my patch as a starting point. Hello, Epona IRC Services seems to be great. But on official web site http://www.pegirc.com/epona/ their ftp ftp://ftp.pegsoft.net/epona/ doesn"t work. Someone could give me a link where I can download Epona or send it to me ? I'm also looking for services for Unreal IRCD like Channel Services 5.1 on Ircu. These services are really good for channel managing but they don't work on ircd. If you find services as much good as CS5.1, tell me plz. Thank you. Create Multiple Y lines, like this: Y:1:90:60:0:1000000 Y:2:90:60:0:1000000 Y lines are: Y:<CLASS>:PINGFREQ:CONNECTFREQ:MAXCON:SENDQ class is just a number that represents this class ping freq is how long after not receiving anything from a client (or server) do we ping it to see if its still there Connectfreq only applies to Server links, but its how often do we try to autoconnect a Server MAXCON says how many connections are allowed on this class SENDQ is how big is the buffer for this client. if we have more than this much data for the client (or Server) then we disconnect them. Then you use I lines eg: I:ident@ip:pass:ident@hostmask::class so, a example of mapping aussie users to a different class: I:*@*::*.au::2 says any IP addy (we don't know what IP range australia has) with no password, but comming from a domain in Australia is mapped to the Class 2 or I:*@*::fish@*.au::3 puts anybody with the ident fish, and coming from australia into class 3 if your confused, fine.. Go read doc/example.conf for a good clear explaination of them. :) Justin -----Original Message----- From: Chris <ch...@cy...> To: unr...@li... <unr...@li...> Date: Monday, May 29, 2000 1:14 AM Subject: [Unreal-users] Y:Line mapping? >>From Memory (though I could be wrong) >>The Y Line says how many clients you are allowed in a Particular Class. >>Look for your Y line in your config and see if its around this number... >You >>might have to knock it up some more, or: >>Map Clients to different Y lines. Might just throw in my cents here.. (this problem was predicted already before release). Unreal/all IRCds have had a problem with it able to be "owned"/crashed by a program that spawned heavily many unknown connections.. We added a fix so no Y:line max clients can be larger than MAXCONNECTIONS (which in your case is 256) minus 15 (for dns checks, socks etc). Go edit the Y:line to say Y:1:90:0:241:100000 if you got the "241" problem. This is for your own good really :P --Stskeeps --------------------------------------------------------------------- Carsten V. Channel mode +f (flood protection) is still in use. The syntax of such is: /mode #chan +f +lines:seconds Where lines are the amount of times the user is allowed to talk in (seconds). Adam. /mode #chan +f 5:8 Means, 5 lines in 8 seconds gets you a kick. We use this setting, and it works well... From Memory (though I could be wrong) The Y Line says how many clients you are allowed in a Particular Class. Look for your Y line in your config and see if its around this number... You might have to knock it up some more, or: Map Clients to different Y lines. E.g Map US users to one Y line, and Map Aussie users to their own Y line. I Also think if you want your IRCD to support more than 255 Connections you need to sometimes check out two things: 1) That your Kernel will support more than 256 FD's (or open files, which is what a socket is classed as). Ulimit -a shows this (Look for open files) if its set at 256, then you usually need to re-compile your kernel to allow more Open Files per Process (for 2.0. there are patches available that fix this, for 2.2 there is a define in one of the kernel config files (I have no idea where, it was a long time I did this) 2) if ulimit -a shows you can accept more connections, then the other option you have to setup (I think, not 100% sure on this) is Unreal. I think its Hardcoded to support only a Maximum of 256 or 512 connections. Again, I don't know where to do this in the unreal code. Maybe Stskeeps or Codemaster will grace us with a answer? (or correct me if I'm wrong) Thanks Justin -----Original Message----- From: Brad <Br...@ch...> To: unr...@li... <unr...@li...>; unr...@li... <unr...@li...> Date: Sunday, May 28, 2000 7:55 AM Subject: [Unreal-users] hmm. bug? >hey, > >Closing Link: Brad[64.23.15.131] (ircd.conf Y:line class number 1 is bad >(contains too many max clients (> 241).
