Hi, Got a problem, running two Unreal 3.0 Morrigan (fix) servers, and tried to install Wrecked IRC Services on one. They installed fine and got NickServ working, when when I try to register a channel ChanServ goes mental. Here is an example, [22:08] *** ChanServ sets mode: +r [22:08] *** sa.irc.server sets mode: -r [22:08] *** ChanServ sets mode: +r [22:08] *** sa.irc.server sets mode: -r [22:08] *** ChanServ sets mode: +r [22:08] *** sa.irc.server sets mode: -r [22:08] *** ChanServ sets mode: +r [22:08] *** sa.irc.server sets mode: -r [22:08] *** ChanServ sets mode: +r [22:08] *** sa.irc.server sets mode: -r This goes on constantly. Any ideas would be good, Regards, Chris Mason |

I would imagine that (null) in this case would be a support channel you have set up. For any graphic designers .... If you are thinking of doing some graphics for the wircd, i have made some guidlines ... thats the big image ... with the pooor handwriting on it(if you cant read it ... ask and i shall tell), and some examples of some other application that i liked, it does not have to be the same as that, it can be different, but please bare inmind that i need images for everything ! Have a look at this zip for the images http://unreal.sourceforge.net/unrealwircdimages.zip Dave --------------------------------------- Trust the computer industry to shorten "Year 2000" to Y2K. Hi, I recently became an oper on a server run on UnrealIRCd, running my usual client, Ircle (Macintosh). Ircle maintains info about users on-channel rather more aggressively than most, by performing periodic /userhost commands - this returns away status, oper status and hostmask info, which may change over time. However, fellow opers have started complaining about the frequency of "*** chromatix did a /userhost on you" messages that appear whenever I am around, unless they set themselves -W and lose information about /who and /whois requests done on them. As I can't see any use for this message, but can see uses for /who and /whois detection, I did a search through the Unreal code and found the following fragment: if (IsWhois(acptr) && IsOper(sptr)) { sendto_one(acptr, ":%s NOTICE %s :*** %s did a /userhost on you.", me.name, sptr->name, sptr->name); } So, if the target is set +W and the _sender_ is opered, this message is sent to the target? I wonder if that is the correct behaviour, never mind whether it's needed... Any thoughts on my removing this from our copy of Unreal? Using version 3.0 Morrigan(fix) - both the main server and my test machine are running Linux on ix86. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- from: Jonathan "Chromatix" Morton mail: ch...@cy... ok well there is a reason sjoin wasn't working... sjoin doesn't have anything to do with that :P sjoin is something totally different, you want svsjoin it is the same as sajoin but doesn't send the notice and requires a U:line For the virus notices that is already sort of done, there is user mode +v which can be set by anyone (thats so #nohack type people can see these). And yes, G:lines are global the format is /gline +/-user@host time :reason -- codemastr ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Nightwalker (Stskeeps)" <cm...@dr...> To: <unr...@li...> Sent: Saturday, April 15, 2000 11:01 AM Subject: [Unreal-users] forwarded from fish > > Guys, > we have been using 3.0(fix) in global for a while now. and I have to say, it Rocks. > in the last few weeks, our Userbase has gone through the roof as well (due to a few merges and stuff like that, I don't know the details, I'm just their coder now) > but with the growth of users, we have also noticed a few things: > anybody that has joined would have seen that we are now SAjoining people to channels based on their Location (ie, Asia users get joined to #Sea, others get joined to certian channels) so this is what I want to know: > Sajoin notices every Oper online about the join. Guys, we have been using 3.0(fix) in global for a while now. and I have to say, it Rocks. in the last few weeks, our Userbase has gone through the roof as well (due to a few merges and stuff like that, I don't know the details, I'm just their coder now) but with the growth of users, we have also noticed a few things: anybody that has joined would have seen that we are now SAjoining people to channels based on their Location (ie, Asia users get joined to #Sea, others get joined to certian channels) so this is what I want to know: Sajoin notices every Oper online about the join. I've tried to get sjoin working, but for the life of me can't figure it out. Is this fixed in 3.1? Its kinda flooding opers at the moment, and is getting really annoying. could we set it up so if the sajoin comes from a U lined server, it doesn't notice every oper? (and leave it upto the U lined server to send the notice?) svsflines rock. 1) we are currently kicking/sajoining users that are sending all those wonderful mirc virus's to a Virus Channel, where they are either cleaned, or Killed. but can we get the notice that is sent when a prohibited file is sent, made global instead of just to local opers. Most of the time, we don't have a Oper on each server, so we might miss the notice, and the user happily goes sending on. 2) I've made a module for Neostats that the virus guys can use to do sajoins/kicks/update file specs that are prohibited. It sends out svsfline when a new server comes online, but a few things I've noticed with it: if a server splits, and then rejoins, it already has the svsflines there, but for safety sake, NeoStats sends a new svsfline. Problems is that the file specs get duplicated up on all the other servers eg: stats --> dynamx ---> canada stats f gives me: (dcc) [s] *.pif why do you want to send a pif file. Possible virus. Silly, Naughty, Stupid ;) on all servers Then say, canada splits, and rejoins. Neo Sends out the svsfline (cause it doesn't know if canada lost its svsfline or not) and then bingo, we have duplicates. ie stats f dynamx* (dcc) [s] *.pif why do you want to send a pif file. Possible virus. Silly, Naughty, Stupid ;) (dcc) [s] *.pif why do you want to send a pif file. Possible virus. Silly, Naughty, Stupid ;) and stats f canada: (dcc) [s] *.pif why do you want to send a pif file. Possible virus. Silly, Naughty, Stupid ;) (dcc) [s] *.pif why do you want to send a pif file. Possible virus. Silly, Naughty, Stupid ;) Can we get svsfline to at least check if: 1) a filespec already exists and if so, not add it. 2) - even better... say we had: (dcc) [s] *.bat Virus 1 (dcc) [s] virus.bat Virus 2 *.bat would catch virus.bat... so why add virus.bat. Ie, get the server to check if there is another fline that would catch the filespec before adding virus.bat? and finally, on svsfline. although we don't use the dccdeny files anymore, I had this idea: when a server loads up, and gets its dccdeny file, when it connects to the rest of the network, it sends out the contents of its dccdeny file as a svsfline. (a bit line qlined nicks) This means that then you only have to update one servers dccdeny file but it would be replicated to the rest of the network? and to finish off: Glines are kool, but 1 quick question. > i get the exact same problem. double checked everything, still no joy. for any of those interested, i found a quick fix to this problem. all you have to do is edit s_serv.c. look for the following piece of code: if (!match("-vhos*", parv[1])) { if (!IsAdmin(sptr)) return 0; sendto_ops("Rehashing vhost configuration on request of %s", sptr->name); vhost_rehash(); return 0; } change: if (!IsAdmin(sptr)) to: if (!IsOper(sptr)) /rehash -vhost works for me now. you also need to do this to /rehash rest, /rehash dyn, and /rehash dcc. brad |

hello-- i do not believe /rehash -vhost is working properly. i tried /rehash -vhost as a regular ircop, administrator, and as the network admin. i sent an e-mail earlier today (Re: [Unreal-users] /vhost) stating that I could not get /vhost to work. i restarted the server and they began to work. just a minute ago i added another line. i typed "/rehash -vhost" and the new lines do not work. am i the only one with this problem? btw- i'm using rh6.1. thanks, brad |

Thanks for that Puc. I'm not sure if it will help as I know vhost.conf was created and the admin also said he followed it to the book, but I'll run it by him anyway. I wonder, as ive seen this on other nets which im not sure about the ircd, is it possible to have it set that users would use the syntax /vhost 1,/vhost 2 ect to obtain certain hosts predefined by the in the "vhost.conf" without the use of a password ? Hi for /vhost you have to create a file, called vhost.conf In the conf file add the hosts you want, syntax: vhost virtualhost username password hostmask e.g. vhost I.hate.microsoft admin bob *@* where anyone typing /vhost admin bob will get I.hate.microsoft as a host mask vhost I.hate.microsoft admin bob puc@*.saix.net will give the person with ident puc from the host *.saix.net the vhost after editing the file, do a /rehash -vhost from the ircd to read the vhost.conf file Hope This is what you were looking for.
