One of the most boring and time consuming tasks you can have to do is to find good set-ups for all robots on all tracks for new car types or car sets.
If you enter a contest, you normally have one car type and a subset of tracks and just one robot, your own.
But as member of the development team of Speed-Dreams you have much more car types and tracks to handle and more than one robot to deal with.
Basically, the idea is to have the computer do most of the boring work, though a genetic optimisation technique.
Based on a new Speed-Dreams (SD) Race Engine (RE) implemented as module, the new tool provides you an automated search for car type and robot set-up parameters.
Initially developed for the “wdbee racing team” and used for some of the later races of the TORCS Endurance World Championship 2012, it is available for other robots like the SD-Simplix now.

Warning: The optimization always works with the files in the User-Folders! A simplix based robot checks the robot definition file (e.g. simplix_sc.xml). If not found in the User-Folder, it uses the files in the SD-Folder. This makes the optimization write to the User-Folder but read from the SD-Folder resulting in no progress.
Thanks to Rico Cozzio for the hint!
