Hi all! I'm trying t orun seq24 on my laptop (a ibm t43 with gentoo on it (kernel 2.6.12-r6)). It works pretty fine exept a big problem... When trying to press "edit" or 2new", it just freeze! Anything elsa looks to work fine (If I load a seq file, then it plays it! I can change the bpm... I can paste... etceterra and etcerra...) Is this a bug ? Running from a console doesn't give any answer... Note, I tried with several version of gtkmm (2.2, 2.4 and 2.6). What can/should I do? Thank's -yc- -- « La musique offre aux passions le moyen de jouir d'elles-mêmes. » Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, Le Gai Savoir. |

It's possibel to=20 run them in "loopsync". If sooperlooper, seq24 and ardour would run=20 in "loopsync" it would be the most powerfull livetool ever seen. best regards lukas |

Yes, jack transport doesn't support any sort of looping so it is disabled when running in that mode. When I click the button to only play the sequence between the L and R =20 markers the position marker still goes past R as if the button has not =20 been pushed in. I am running version 0.6.3 on GTK 2.6.8 and Seq24 is the JACK master =20 because I have it starting Hydrogen when the sequence plays. Seq24 is =20 connected to ZynAddSubFX through ALSA midi. So it looks like a bug in the eveolutions. I remember playing a bit with muse when I bought the first mk-249c2 two years ago. At that time muse also showed the duplicate noteoff, where as I don't think rosegarden did. Anyways, just recorded a note in both rosegarden and muse and at least they don't show the extra noteoff. So it seems that rosegarden and muse have a workaround for that kind of behaviour... I can't tell whether it being recorded or not, but here's the files recorded in muse/rosegarden, maybe you can: http://www.atte.dk/download/2noteoff.tgz Anyhow: For now I can simply use the newer evolution, but wouldn't it be an idea an do like rosegarden and muse: For the sake of userfriendliness towards owners of crappy keys, implement a workaround? -- peace, love & harmony Atte http://www.atte.dk |

Hi Whenever I record something in seq24 from my evolution usb keyboard I get strange extra notes showing up just about where the actual notes ends. What shall I make of this? The last time I tried syncing seq24 with hydorgen was quite a while ago, it worked then, but things might have changed. Do they slowly drift out of sync? Hi Karl, I'm guessing you're a gentoo user. 'emerge seq24' worked for me with no problems. I don't have any use flags to do with audio on this box. Versions I have installed are: media-sound/seq24 0.6.3 dev-cpp/gtkmm 2.2.12 (using gcc 3.3.5) I upgraded gtkmm to 2.6.3 and voila, 'emerge seq24' still compiles cleanly. Not sure if this helps you get this wicked wee sequencer up and going, but it should give you hope :-) -- Darren >I have justr tried to compile seq24 on gentoo 2.6.12-r6 with gtkmm-2.4 >with no success. Hi, I have justr tried to compile seq24 on gentoo 2.6.12-r6 with gtkmm-2.4 with no success. I tried to emerge an earlier version on gtkmm, but run into a dependancy error. Hi there, I've been getting large numbers of underruns with seq24. I'm not doing=20 anything too sophisticated, but I start to see underruns right away. The=20 biggest problem is that it crashes my Yamaha RS7000 horribly and nearly=20 gives me a heart attack every time. Is there any diagnostic procedure I can do to try and find the cause? I'm= =20 using kernel-2.6.12-2 (from DeMuDi), alsa 1.0.8-7, jackd-0.88.51-1 and=20 libgtkmm-2.2.12-1.1 (Debian versions). Everything running as root, very few= =20 processes running my workstation.=20 I'm running Seq24 with jackd --realtime (48000 SR), zynaddsubfx -r 48000=20 (with three synths), qjackctl, and alsamixer. Hardware wise I have a Pentium 4 1.6GHz, 256KB cache, 768MB RAM (200MB=20 free), and an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96. I've recompiled the source on my system but see no difference between that= =20 and the Debian package I was using. I'm really enjoying seq24! Just hate it when I lose two hours work due to a= =20 crash. Fortunately I'm just learning and the stuff I'm doing now are not=20 full songs. I'd love to know (as an aside :o) ) how to use seq24 for automating other= =20 midi controls like pitch, cutoff, etc. Is there some bezier magic I'm=20 missing? Hope I can get everything working properly soon. I want to get good enough= =20 to buy (and wear) the tee-shirt!! ;o) Regards, Paul |

What kernel?. Does the computer respond when trying to contact it
through the network?

Hello all, I recently tried out seq24 and as far as the GUI is concerned I think it's excellent. What's not so great however, is that the program aborted when I tried to save a file. Moreover, if I activate both midi in and midi out and plays a song the application hangs the *entire* computer after a couple of seconds (i have to restart with the reset button). So the program seems to be very unstable. I have compiled seq24 on Fedora Core 3 Linux on an AMD XP machine. Any clues? Regards, August |

So it seems.

I don't know what that could be.
Any pointers on where to take this next?. Should I take it to gcc
devel?

Well, All I can tell is your pthread.h file isn't looking like most.
/* Mutex initializers. */
#define PTHREAD_MUTEX_INITIALIZER \
{ }
#ifdef __USE_GNU
# define PTHREAD_RECURSIVE_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ .__data =3D { .__kind =3D PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE_NP } }
# define PTHREAD_ERRORCHECK_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ .__data =3D { .__kind =3D PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK_NP } }
# define PTHREAD_ADAPTIVE_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ .__data =3D { .__kind =3D PTHREAD_MUTEX_ADAPTIVE_NP } }
#endif
I'm not even sure if that is valid code?
The above code looks like this in my 2.3.4.20040808:
# define PTHREAD_RECURSIVE_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ { 0, 0, 0, PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE_NP } }
# define PTHREAD_ERRORCHECK_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ { 0, 0, 0, PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK_NP } }
# define PTHREAD_ADAPTIVE_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP \
{ { 0, 0, 0, PTHREAD_MUTEX_ADAPTIVE_NP } }
I've never done a custom glibc, so I don't know what pthread options
there are. I would guess some things were left off at compile/install
time?
Sorry, I really don't have any other advice to offer. I hope that helps.
cheers
rob
