I have tried it with kernel 2.6.11-1.14_FC3 and 2.6.10-1.770_FC3, no 
difference. Before I start seq 24 I have to do

$ modprobe snd-seq

otherwise I get the error

ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No 
such file or directory
snd_seq_open() error

seq24 hangs in the same way as described in my previous posting when I 
start the program as root.
