I finished dev on the RFEs I had for 0.3.0. Now if only that slowpoke Wendall would finish his. ;) Anyway if you want to test them feel free. One was adding a "default" field to mark classes as "default" classes to have to auto-selected in the drop-down boxes. The other was using href links instead of submit buttons in the module menu. I'll wait for testing or feedback before removing the commented old code. The internet is acting really wacky for me tonight. I'm getting 40% packet loss or mangled packets when pinging yahoo.com from home. Don. |

I can't recreate it either. I think maybe they were just confused. Possibly confused with "Random and Featured Listings". Can anyone reproduce Bug 723912. The submitter says that items not marked as "Featured" are appearing in the "Featured Listings". I have not been able to recreate this error. The submitter has not replied in a while so if I hear nothing back by the end of the week I plan to close this bug as "Works for Me", unless someone can recreate it. Don. |

From now on new bug, support requests, and feature requests notifications will be sent to the developer list. Note that it is only NEW submits, so it shouldn't be too annoying for those not interested. ;) Cheers, Don. |

I've added Wendall as a developer to the project. He was already working on a number of modifications which happened to have been submitted as RFEs by others. He is pretty familiar with phpwslistings and hopefully will be able to knock off some of the RFEs that I can't spare a moment for. Be warned: He is from Idaho. Don. |

Thanks to Wendall Cada for the proposition, I've dropped the "mod_listings_listelements" table and instead will store listing element data as a serialized array in a text field in the main mod_listings database. This saves many database interactions for us and hopefully will make things a bit leaner and meaner. This change is in CVS including the upgrade script that will convert existing data to the new format and then drop the listelements table and it's sequence table. Don. |

Don, I am somewhat lost on the meaning of <a href> tags instead of submit buttons. I know what a <a href> tag is, but what are you trying to do? Have text instead of the button? If that is the case, my previous example should work. If not, you have gone beyond my understanding(which isn't hard to do). As far as the dropdown for the "Listing Class", I think it would be alright to leave that one and just do the rest. I think I am off track, Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don Seiler" <do...@se...> To: "Mike Windsor" <wi...@ce...> Cc: "phpwsListings" <php...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2003 12:15 PM Subject: Re: [phpwslistings-dev] menu.tpl > http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=703136&group_id=73598&atid=538277 > > Anyone have any more input on this matter? OK with some tips from Mike Noyes I think I have the demo site permissions fixed. Now I just need the time to update the site to the latest phpws and phpwslistings. Don. Yeah I noticed. The problem is that the website uploads pictures with 600 permissions and they are owned by nobody:nobody, which is the user that apache runs on. So I can't change those pictures nor can I move pictures into there from the shell. Mike Noyes said I need to file an SF.net support request to have them set a group switch on there. I'll do it later. He did it for ffl. Don. On Sat, 26 Apr 2003, Mike Windsor wrote: > What happened to the images on the demo site? Steven recommended just unsetting the session var like unset($_SESSION["SES_LISTINGS_MANAGER"]); and leaving it. Then the index.php will create a new session after the page from the update is loaded. I'm going to try that out later. Don. On Thu, 24 Apr 2003 ad...@tu... wrote: > Hey fellas. Sorry I've been so quiet lately. Hey fellas. Sorry I've been so quiet lately. I've been dealing with taking a class and doing some pretty intense coding for the university. I should be more active once summer time comes around. Anyway, I saw your post on the dev list and what you did should have worked. Another method you might want to try is using the phpws core function killSession($sessionName). It basically just does what you did by hand in your update.php script but it may be worth a try. In my own code when I reinitialize any session I do something like this: $_SESSION["MyManager"] = new MyManager; I hope some of that helps. Well I'm squared away except for the manager reloading thing that I posted to the phpws dev list about tonight. We'll see if any better solutions come up. I'll release 0.2.0 RC 2 for now to keep up in the spirit of "release early. release often.". Don. I'm going to test the update script also first a couple of times, using the sqldump from the demo site. I'll let you guys know when it's close. Don. Don, Sounds good to me. I don't have a lot of time to test but I'm sure if it works for you it will be fine. "Oww, sure is quiet in here today." "Yes, a little too quiet if you know what I mean." "Hmm, I'm afraid I don't." "You see, bees usually make a lot of noise. No noise suggests no bees." "Oh, I understand now. Oh look, there goes one. " "To the beemobile!" "You mean your Chevy?" "Yes" I've committed the changes I talked about in my earlier emails. I closed out all the bugs except one which I can't duplicate but the submitter seems reliable so I want to make sure. After I do should we release 0.2.0 final or go with an RC2? Don. |

I'm going ahead with moving Use Price to the class level. I will also be doing that change where only one class means using the href links ont he side instead of the submit buttons. Let me know what you guys are thinking about. Don. Actually the bug was 719859. Although now that I get back to playing with it I have some more thoughts: 1. Should the "Use Price" setting be moved to the listing class level, similar to what we did with the "Use Mortgage Calculator" setting? I think so. 2. In the side menu, "View Listings" and "Search" had become submit buttons instead of links due to us using the drop-down of listing classes. In a single-class environment, I can just use normal hrefs and pass in the id of the only class. I hate having to use those submit buttons. Is there a way to use normal hrefs to submit a form? I know it can be done with javascript. I just hate having to use javascript due to certain browsers from the Evil Empire(TM) not supporting things like standards. Time for bed. Don. Just getting over my 2 day illness. I'll spare the details just too say pretty much every bodily orifice was well utilized. :p Anyway there is one bug I'd like to investigate further (713132), but after that are we good to go with releasing 0.2.0? After talking with Matt it was confirmed that in it's current form FatCat would not support categorizing multiple items per module. He and I agreed on a recommend solution allowing for backwards compatibility but I don't believe this was implemented before phpWS 0.9.1 came out. I would like to us get 0.2.0 out because there is a fair number of other bug fixes etc. Perhaps it would have been wiser to get an 0.1.1 bugfix release out there, perhaps it's not too late for that. Anyway let me know what you guys think. Now that 0.9.1 is out we can go ahead with the 0.2.0 release. Don. |
