OK I put a link to the demo site on the homepage and I'll post a news item about it too just to be anal. Don. OK in our group dir /home/groups/p/ph/phpwslistings there is a bin dir with restore.sh. It's even been battle tested because when I was trying to test it I forgot to comment out the rm-rf line so I had to restore. It gets errors because we need to file an SR with sf.net staff to do some jazz with dir permissions. That's because apache writes file so that we can't delete them. Although we don't need to delete them really. So we can leave it as is for now. Don. Yeah I actually will take a mysqldump with the --add-drop-tables in there so that script will be used to recreate the database. sourceforge won't let us drop and recreate databases. Then yeah I was going to rm -rf demo in the htdocs dir and then untar the saved demo dir tar that I take. That should set us up nicely. The demo site is up and Mike is adding some things in. Don. Attached is a flushdata script that Jeremy uses for the demo site. I edited it a bit and tried it out and it seemed to work. It is meant to drop an entire database though, so it renews an entire phpwebsite instance, not just the module. I can write one in the next few days that renews specific tables within a database and handles file replacement. About file replacement, would you want to run a 'rm -rf *' in a cron on your server? As long as the path in the script is set right...everything should be fine :) Just let me know what you think. The current release only has one type of item. But yeah once I'm done with 0.2.0 we'll have to setup an expanded demo. Thanks, Don. > Adam, does the phpws crew have a script already that they use? Yes, I believe I can scrounge something up. The module can handle more than one type of item correct? Why not show a real estate demo, car dealership demo, and another random one? Just a suggestion. Also, I'll look more closely at the phpwslistings source code. I can be a good resource when it comes to coding and design, especially for phpws. Having it reset every hour would be great. I'll work on the script to do that. Adam, does the phpws crew have a script already that they use? Mike feel free to load it with samples, then when you've got it how you want it I'll take a mysql dump and save that for the hourly (or so) reload. Currently waiting for the sf.net process queue to process my database creation request. :p It'll probably occur sometime during our respective beauty sleeps so I'll finish it up tomorrow. Don. Don, Once you get the demo site up, I can scrounge around for some generic real estate samples if you want, unless you have it all taken care of. Are you going to have it open so people can add listings and reset it every hour like phpws does? We've gotten a handful (ok maybe 3) support requests that have basically all been people thinking phpwsListings was a stand-alone app, as opposed to a phpWebSite module. I'm going to update the docs/INSTALL document to more clearly explain the need for a _working_ phpWebSite install first and then I'll post it to the Doc Manager on the website. Don. |
