Filenames get cut off
thumbnails not working for arithmetic JPEGS
This problem still exists in 2025, in both current PcmanFM in Debian Bookworm, and also with gtk3 version in Trixie. I submitted a bug report, it's a really quirky one that takes some explaining: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1100053

Moving the subitems into the main context menu for some reason is making them working via CTRL + Key_Menu: in /libfm/src/gtk/fm-folder-view.c For example moving item Create New -> Dir into just Create New Dir Create New -> Empty File into just Empty File The bug appears in the recent libfm versions only - It's working nice in Lubuntu 18.04.

Maybe this issue is applied not just to jpeg files, I noticed it on jpeg files.
The bug was introduced here: https://github.com/lxde/libfm/commit/00120b795a811ae70db89dde5021461658f2880f

I worked around this by unchecking the Auto-Mount options in Edit -> Preferences -> Volume Management of pcmanfm. Seems to be related to the auto-mount in pcmanfm conflicting with the desktop's own auto-mounting feature.
I had an issue where only the first 7 thumbnails were being generated in any given directory, file size didn't even seem to be the issue. Out of ideas, I set the minimum to zero and now it's generating all the thumbnails. So whoever eventually looks into this, see if the number of files can have something to do with it too. BTW: PCManFM v 1.3.2 from Debian 12 (bookworm)

Icon not refreshed at all sizes (zoom)
As I wrote back in 2020, if someone tells me where and how to do it, i'll do it! Thanks in advance! Cheers
Anyone reading or listening ?
Another set of test files behaved differently. JPEG files, their sizes in B: 839967 589387 531713 766827 944008 978644 The minimum setting required to show any of them in this folder is 7803 KB. They all trigger at that point.

Yes the config options are definitely too poor. Whenever I want to simply open a text file, say YML or even custom XML, I get the "What do you want to do with it?" but when I uncheck "Don't ask options on launch executable file" it defaults to execute which does not make sense to me as a default. I guess the behaviour is based on the "executable" permission but people may work with file systems that don't allow UNIX permissions so that they default to 777. TL;DR: Allow for setting the default double-click...
Inconsistent accessibility of a mounted (USB/MTP) Android phone
FWIW, PCManFM 1.3.2 on Ubuntu 22.04 (System76 Gazelle 17), copying files from a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone over USB, dates and times are preserved properly.

Dragging/dropping a filename with a space gives an encoded filename with "%20"

Still an issue as of 14-03-2022. Process cannot be ended from Ksysguard.
Improvement: Give us a way to change navbar icon size (see photo)

Add support for pure Wayland system
Hope this happens some day. It would be pretty useful. Thanks a lot!

Dragging an image from Firefox into the left pane of pcmanfm hangs the entire desktop
segfault (core dumped) when trying to open .desktop file
I am also experiencing this same bug on version 1.3.1. Other programs like ffmpegthumbnailer and atril will save their thumbnails to ~/.cache/thumbnails but pcmanfm will not save generated .png and .jpg thumbnails (and maybe other file extensions, but that's just what I have noticed personally). Just to test I installed pcmanfm-qt and that program will generate thumbnails correctly, and normal gtk pcmanfm will use those generated thumbnails.

Pcmanfm is very slow

PCmanFM do not start on Rapian any more
I am trying to use pcmanfm from fedora in a charliecloud container on a suse host. pcmanfm is exiting with exit code 1. I tried running in gdb, but that gave no hints. I run with strace, and noticed it was trying to access /run/user/$UID after mounting a writable tmp-fs to /run/user/$UID pcmanfm was starting up again.
Only show thumbnails for local files does not respect SSHFS mounts
No custom actions on Xubuntu
SIGSEGV in fm_path_display_basename when using filter
I don't think that PCManFM should be blamed, all operations are done by underlying GVFS module. Thank you for reporting this, will inspect it.

I still experience this bug on ArchLinux with community/pcmanfm 1.3.1-2 (that's the GTK2 version): LANG=en_IE.UTF-8 Finnish/Swedish keyboard layout (AFAIU they are the same) kernel 5.4.70-1-lts x86_64 Symptoms: If I don't change anything, I can use Alt-LeftArrow and Alt-RightArrow, but NOT Alt-Home or Alt-UpArrow If I change LANG to e.g. en_US.utf8, or unset it, I can use Alt-Home, but still not Alt-UpArrow. I have applied the patch manually to the latest tarball and /usr/local-installed that version...
Tested again. PCmanfm-qt is completely UNRELIABLE! Dangerous to use! Do NOT use it. When moving files from memory card to hard disk, it randomly changes the date! Krusader does not do this. This is un UNFORGIVABLE Bug!!!! How could this pass through the testing phase???? And how com Lubuntu installs it as standard file manager???
'Shadow hidden files' effect is shifted right by one
Must add more information: moving files from a memory card had this effect
Move sets date one month forward
SIGSEGV in fm_path_display_basename when using filter
Use XDG_CACHE_HOME for thumbnails
File date/time not saved over MTP
Renaming current directory from left pane's tree navigates to home
I've been annoyed by this issue as well, so I support the request. @Rado, are you aware of another site where development is organized and bugs/FRs could be posted instead? This Sourceforge project is the one linked in the "About" popup of version 1.3.1.
Having upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I have PCManFM 1.3.1,libFM 1.3.1, behaviour is the same.
Coredump was missing, new upload:
Crash/coredump with mounted USB/LUKS drive during file operation
I do understand both positions (user perspective, where implementation details do not matter and the dev view, where we don't want to reinvent the wheel). While we point fingers at GKT – which is very much justified here :) – could we consider to implement a Shift+Return or Ctrl+Return to open multiple selected files?
Edition: I checked the English version of PCMANFM. The French is an even worse translation than I supected: the English is a plain "Owner". PLEASE change the French to an equally plain "Propriétaire". Thanks ludo
Shorter French translation for file ownership sincerely needed
