instances of the public URL running in a browser, perhaps as part of a
kiosk or digital signage, then that page would need to be refreshed to the
fetch the updated HTML/JS, which points it at the /api/v2/clients endpoint

Libki, which in turn has led tables like 'clients' to link to 'locations'
with a primary key instead of a string.  This has required a lot of
retrofitting across Libki of this very problem you're describing.   This
looks to be one of the places where the update didn't get applied, most
likely because the public admin page was also updated to use the API V2
endpoint for clients instead of /api/public/datatables/clients legacy
endpoint.  If you're still trying to consume from that endpoint, I think
that's what will lead to the error you're seeing.

Good catch!  It looks like Firefox has a long standing issue with showing
the times on datetime-local fields, which is only resolved as of FF 154 (
https://www.firefox.com/en-US/firefox/154.0/releasenotes/).

I've created https://github.com/Libki/libki-server/issues/496 to
address this issue

[Libki-Users] Date Picker not showing the time selector on Firefox

Since 5.3.1 (r26.05), the datepicker changed and no longer displays the
time selector on Firefox.

This is the datepicker pop-up on Firefox 152.0.4 on Ubuntu Linux:

The server is the docker image for stable, 5.3.1. I've also tried 5.4.0
(r26.08), but that has the same problem.

It is possible to enter the time manually, but that is not ideal; also, I
think the old pre-5.3.1 increments of 5 minutes was a better idea?

After making a reservation, the Make and Cancel buttons become inactive
until the page is refreshed. This is a problem where a 'booking PC' is used
as, after one person reserves a PC, the next person has to refresh the page
in order to make their reservation.

This was not the behaviour in 4.9.1 (r24.01), but everything subsequent.

Here are screenshots illustrating the problem on a 5.2.0 server.

First reservation:

Thanks for the response, Reagan. The problem turned out to be to do with
the faulty Apache proxy forwarding I had configured. I resolved it by
creating a self-signed cert on the dev host and setting up proper proxy
forwarding. Alternatively, I could have just accessed the site on port 3000.

a month after your post, but:

It sounds like your libki-server on your Ubuntu 22.04 VM is unable to
access the libki database.  The database username and password are stored
in libki_local.conf within Model::DB -> connect_info

[Libki-Users] Libki on Ubuntu 20.04

I have a server that I can't upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 because its /boot
partition is too small. I don't have access to the VM hypervisor and can't
expect support from IT. So I'm stuck on Ubuntu 20.04.

I have Libki 4.0.9 (r20.05-223-g4864c26) running there and would like to
upgrade to something more recent.

As this is a production server, I set up a local VM and installed Ubuntu
20.04 to replicate the production VM so I could test the upgrade.

   - I copied the libki-server directory from production to the development
   VM
   - created a libki database on the dev VM and
   - restored a dump of the production libki database

The server boots normally, and the web interface is available. A windows
client seems to be able to connect to it and is reflected as online in the
clients table of the database.

However, the web interface does not display the client and when I try to
log into the administration side, I get  *Error:* Bad username or password.

I have another VM running Ubuntu 22.04 and I followed the same procedure to
replicate my production Libki 4.0.9 without problems. The Windows client is
displayed in the list of available machines, and I am able to log in as an
administrator.

There must be something missing from my 20.04 VM, but I can't figure out
what. I'm not getting any errors in either the libki-server.log or
libki.log. I've compared the installed Perl modules (using cpan -a) and
both environments seem to have the same modules installed, albeit with
different versions. I know that Libki works on 20.04 because that's running
on production.

I have also tried fresh installs of various versions of Libki on both VMs.
Works on 22.04; fails on 20.04.

Any ideas?

Also, is there a way to change the server for a Windows client without
having to reinstall?

Has anyone integrated Libki with other systems (apart from SIP and LDAP).
I've looked in the manual, but haven't found any API documentation.

This is a bit of weird question, but we're having problems with some
clients not connecting to the server and I would like to know if there's a
way to find out the IP address of clients that *are* connected to the
server.

I haven't been able to find anything in the administration UI, the logs, or
the database, but I've probably not been looking in the right place.

Our Evergreen instance is hosted offsite by Equinox. I setup an internal Stunnel endpoint. I then pointed Libki to that endpoint. 

Libki <---- unencrypted ----> Stunnel Endpoint <---- encrypted ----> Equinox 

The traffic between Libki and the Stunnel endpoint is isolated to a data center VLAN. Libki just thinks it is talking to an old fashioned SIP2 endpoint.

Our library is part of the BC libraries Co-op and our ILS is Sitka Evergreen.  I have looked through the online manual and some of the documentation on github but didn't see the answer.

Under the settings page, she should go to Client Behavior and check “Passwordless Mode”. Then she could just have a generic username for each computer they would type in. Say patron1 for the first computer, patron2 for the second and so on.  Just have a note that says username: whatever stuck to the monitor.

I got the impression that what Kayla was really looking for was effectively for Libki to record all of the stats it does now, but with an automated patron login.

Effectively, all patrons using a guest pass but skipping the step of the patron having to type in a username & password from the guest pass.

I think this is possible, but would likely require a little bit of code work on the client and or the server.

I believe what you are talking about is already accomplished through the Statistics page in the Libki admin.... go to 'More'  then click on statistics... from there you can input the date range of what you need and it will show it to you on screen ... then you can either save it to whatever Libre office has comparable to excel and save that to a flash drive or if a printer is installed you can print it out from the admin screen.

I’m trying to see if I can set it up to just be basic start session and logout client that keeps stats so we can stop hand tallying people who use our public workstations. Patron sits down. Starts session without having to enter a U or P. Enjoys. Logs out. Gets counted.
