Thanks for the response, Reagan. The problem turned out to be to do with
the faulty Apache proxy forwarding I had configured. I resolved it by
creating a self-signed cert on the dev host and setting up proper proxy
forwarding. Alternatively, I could have just accessed the site on port 3000.
