Hello, I'm Xan Charbonnet with Biblionix. We have a customer of our hosted Apollo ILS wishing to use Libki, where Libki is hosted on Google Cloud Services. For a situation where the ILS and Libki live in the same building, encryption is probably not required. For situations where patron information (including and especially login information) is crossing the Internet, we believe that encryption is definitely required. Are there any plans for Libki to support TLS connections when connecting to SIP servers? If not, we might take a stab at adding it. Any guidance would be appreciated. Or is there an alternate solution for this situation? -Xan |

I just wanted to add that in newer versions of Libki I moved session management to the database to get rid of this problem! Hello everyone. I work for a public administration in Spain, providing IT support for a regional network of libraries. We are currently using a propietary software solution for public access computer management, and I would like to evaluate some alternatives based on free software. I have recently found about libki and have been reading the documentation and browsing the code, I hope I can perform a test installation soon. For libki to be used on our libraries we would need some adaptations, mainly a Spanish translation and maybe some extra features (like getting back the possibility of sending messages to users). I could help with the translation, and although I have never programmed in Perl before, I have previous experience with other languages and I'm following some tutorials to see if I can understand the existing code. I have also seen at the github repo an archive project about a javascript (node.js?) version of libki. ¿Does anyone know why it was abandoned, and what is the status of that codebase? We have been experiencing intermittent Libki WebGUI slowdowns (to the point of being unusable), despite running on a platform with far more resources (RAM, CPU) than are really necessary. Restarting Apache2, MySQL, Libki Daemon, nor rebooting the system entirely resolves the issue. Environment is current Debian, Dual Xeon, 24 cores. Desktop clients seem to be connecting and logging in as normal, or at least none are slowed down enough to be unusable or generate customer complaints. Apache2 will sometimes throw proxy errors because Libki was too slow to respond. Connecting directly to Libki on port 3000 (plack?) does not resolve the issue or change performance. MySQL and Apache2 are running smoothly (with low CPU loads each.) Eventually the issue may clear itself (an hour or more.) Possibly a trigger is a poisoned/slow client, but there is no obvious concurrency limit, or network conditions to account for it - (but this is all conjecture.) We typically run around 30 clients, never higher, but distributed over multiple locations (using VPNs), with typically on the order of 10-50 megabits bandwidth, under 100ms latency, steady with no jitter. So . . ., is there another place/technique by which Starman/Plack (or Libki configuration files) can be tuned in order to keep the webGUI more responsive? There does not appear to be anything obvious in the documentation, although it is also possible I have been looking in the wrong place if such documentation exists. Bruce D. I finally did some work on it and have posted some proof of concept code using Angular and Django REST Framework on github: https://github.com/opensensesolutions/groovix-web-print-poc Basically users upload files ( pdf, office files, images, etc. ) which are submitted to your printer or print management system. Hi all, I have problem with session under /tmp/libki. I have 20 workstation, and every 1 seconde, each workstation create 8 folders and 2 files and never clean it. Dear Colleagues, I am attempting to install Libki server on a Raspberry Pi, following the "manual installation" instructions found at < https://github.com/Libki/libki-server>. Things were going great until I attempted to run the database installer/updater (./installer/update_db.pl command). When I try to run that command, an error message is displayed reading something like, "Any::Moose is deprecated. Please use Moo instead at /home/libki/perl5/lib/perl5/Config/JFDI.pm line 11." At this point, I went to line 11 in JFDI.pm and changed "moose" to "moo", but then the script could not find moo. So I used perl -MCPAN -e shell to install moo and then tried to run ./installer/update_db.pl again, but another error message was then displayed: "Can't locate Any/Moo.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Any::Moo module) (@INC contains..." I am at the end of my expertise in this matter and I need help either installing the Any::Moo module, thus adding Any/Moo.pm to @INC, or I need to start completely over with updated scripts which use Moo instead of Moose. Erik, Thank you for your guidance on my situation of being "locked out" of my mysql database. I tried what you suggested and got stuck on the "mysql -ulibki -p" step. The error message which I encounter at that step goes something like, "ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'libki'@'localhost' (using password: YES)". I did check the, "libki_local.conf" file as you suggested and the password which I wrote down is recorded correctly there. I searched the Web for a method to reset the mysql password and found < https://support.rackspace.com/how-to/mysql-resetting-a-lost-mysql-root-password/>. I followed the instructions found there for both the, "root" and, "libki" users (to the best of my ability), but the system still cannot access the database. The issue appears to be your Libki server is unable to connect to the database. Are you sure you created the database and gave it the correct permissions? Have you tried to connect to the database using the MySQL command line client? The library that Im working with on this wanted something a bit more "in your face" something that would pop up over what the user was working on. I actually hijacked the message system for time extensions to add this. A small if statement in libki.pl in the cronjobs that checks for the time and starting at 5 minutes sends a message like the extension every minute saying to save your work. You can change "Password" to "Barcode" easily via the Libki clint ini file, by modifying the labels section: [labels] username="Username:" password="Password:" The second one you could "sort of" do. You can point the login header and footer to external URLs.
