Hello All , I'm using K edit to batch rename several files while working on a web application. I was wondering if there is an easy way to automate the process. Essentially every time I have to convert file titles I have to re-enter about 20 pieces of data into the search and replace fields. Any help would be appreciated. -- Thank You and Sincerely, Jon Welters |

Hello, krename does not give any values back when I try to use something like this: [mp3Artist][mp3Album][mp3Title] Also my Konqueror does not tell me any ID3 info of a mp3 file when I do a right mouse click. Which package do I miss? I am using opensuse. Cheers, Mark -- MarkyMark listen to "Rose Tattoo - Outta This Place (25 To Life (Disk1)) |

Dear Dominik and Stefan Greetings to you both from Sydney Australia. I am a refugee from the mighty dollar economy, so can't send you money, but I run kde on opensuse 10.3 and really appreciate your work on krename. So I send warm thanks to two fine young people for good work that helps keep me a productive old man. By this work you build common wealth to share with all people of the world - after earning income for living, this is better than private wealth for oneself alone. As an Aussie I encourage you to find out about the Aboriginal peoples of this continent - they are the Earth's great sustainable ecocentric civilisation. Thank you also for English (ich spreche sehr schlechtes Deutsches) - we Aussie convicts speak horrible english too, not good educated english like you - so well done! In gratitude Robert ps. opensuse is easy for me, but I will get to gentoo |

I figured out the 'Find:' portion by myself, but I did not know about the \2 \1 in the 'Replace:'. I will try it but I am sure this will work. Thank you. |

Hi, This can be achieved using a simple regular expression. To convert the filename "any - large.ogg" to "large - any.ogg" you have to specify the following regular expression in the Find and Replace dialog: Find: "(.*)\-(.*)" Replace: "\2 - \1" Here you go (do not forget to check the checkbox "Regular expression")! best regards, Dom Am Mittwoch, 20. Hi, This was a change in KRename which made a few users insecure. So it was not a very good change and KRename4 will have another way to make available plugins visible to the user. So this is a "feature", sorry for the inconviniences. KRename4 will try to be better here. best regards, Dom Am Dienstag, 19. Is this a new feature or a bug? In the Plugins tab I only see six built-in plugins but if I look at Filename/Functions... they are all there (50 of them, all the ones I need). I took me a while to figure this out. |

Your wonderful program was ported on OpenBSD. There were 4 issues found and fixed while porting (3 by A.Jacoutot, 1 by me): - Not all systems have bash by default, and less systems have /bn/bash. And there is are not any reasons to not to use standard /bin/sh. - mv(1)'s "--force" is a non-standard flag, changed to "-f" - source and destination file names were swapped in undo file generator. - Qt uses Unicode internally, so you need to convert "from Unicode + to Unicode", not "to Unicode and from Unicode", and have to "reverse" order of encoding-decoding. Tested with different Russian encodings, so you can trust me:). I hope that you'll merge patches included upstream. Hi, KRename 3.9.0 has been released today. It is the first development release of KRename for KDE4 (i.e. KDE4 is required to compile this version). Not everything is ported yet and this version has fewer features than the last KDE3 release. Most of the code has been rewritten and the missing bits will be added before the final release. The basics should be completely working in this release. Feel free to report your feedback to our mailing list. Hi, I used to rename my JPEG files in Debian using krename. The plugin I was using is JPEG kfile EXIF. I am now using Ubuntu 7.04 and I installed krename (sudo apt-get install krename) but the JPEG plugin was not part of the installation. How can I install it in Ubuntu? Regards Luis |

Hello, Thanks for your patch. It fixes a big problem in KRename. I did not yet hav= e a=20 chance to look at your patch nor to commit, but I will do so as soon as I=20 find a free minute. I am currently moving once again so it might take me a= =20 few days to finally commit your changes. I think your patch is worth a KRename 3.0.15 release for KDE3. An important= =20 bug will be fixed and KDE3 will still be around for some time (debian? ;) )= =20 so it is surely worthe the effort. I am not yet sure though why this problem exists anyway in the first place.= =20 =46ileOperation or BatchRenamer::work should really check if a file exists= =20 before overwriting it. best regards, Dom=20 Am Sunday 15 July 2007 schrieb Nicolas Labriet: > Hello, > > First of all, thank you very much for krename, it is so great and useful ! > > I have been using krename for a while now mostly to rename pictures by > date/time. > Some times ago I noticed that when using the continuous mode of my camera > some pictures where deleted when renaming. > I figure out that some pictures where taken at the same time (same second) > and thus get the same destination name and one of them will be overwritten > during the renaming process. > > I was tired of renaming the continuous pictures manually and decided to g= et > the krename source and work on it. > I must say that it didn't take me a long time to find where I had to chan= ge > things, thanks to your readable, self explaining and commented enough cod= e. > > So I come out with this small patch that add a '_' at the end of the > filename (before the extension) when two files have the same destination > name: > > Having those 3 pictures taken at the same time: > 1.jpg > 2.jpg > 3.jpg > > Before I had only one file left because they were renamed the same way: > 1.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg > 2.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg > 3.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg (the only one left) > > Now I still have my three files because they don't have the exact same > name: 1.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg > 2.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21_.jpg > 3.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21__.jpg > > Ok, it is not so pretty, the best thing will be to add a second to the > pictures (or to add ms to the Exif standard), but I still have my pictures > and that's what I care about. > > I know you are really busy porting the application to Qt4 but I hope you > will include this patch in the next release or resolve the problem in an > other way. > > I am not on the mailing list so please reply to this address. > Thanks again you're doing a great job ! > > Nicolas =2D-=20 ********************************************************************** Dominik Seichter - dom...@we... Hello, First of all, thank you very much for krename, it is so great and useful ! I have been using krename for a while now mostly to rename pictures by date/time. Some times ago I noticed that when using the continuous mode of my camera some pictures where deleted when renaming. I figure out that some pictures where taken at the same time (same second) and thus get the same destination name and one of them will be overwritten during the renaming process. I was tired of renaming the continuous pictures manually and decided to get the krename source and work on it. I must say that it didn't take me a long time to find where I had to change things, thanks to your readable, self explaining and commented enough code. So I come out with this small patch that add a '_' at the end of the filename (before the extension) when two files have the same destination name: Having those 3 pictures taken at the same time: 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg Before I had only one file left because they were renamed the same way: 1.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg 2.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg 3.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg (the only one left) Now I still have my three files because they don't have the exact same name: 1.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21.jpg 2.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21_.jpg 3.jpg -> 2007-07-07 12-08-21__.jpg Ok, it is not so pretty, the best thing will be to add a second to the pictures (or to add ms to the Exif standard), but I still have my pictures and that's what I care about. I know you are really busy porting the application to Qt4 but I hope you will include this patch in the next release or resolve the problem in an other way. I am not on the mailing list so please reply to this address. Thanks again you're doing a great job ! Nicolas |

Hello, KRename 3.0.14 was released today. KRename is a very powerful batchrenamer = for KDE3. This stable release fixes adding directories using drag and drop and a crash with plugin previews. Plugins with additional arguments like [date;dd-mm-yyyy] where fixed. This release is the first release of KRename that is covered by a unit test= to ensure a release not introducing any regression bugs.=20 Otakar Trunecek added Czech transliteration characters. Downloads are available as source and binary packages. If you problems with this release or any other feedback, feel free to drop us a mail. http://www.krename.net best regards, Dom =2D-=20 ********************************************************************** Dominik Seichter - dom...@we... Hi, Each time I (re)start krename, the window opens at the center of the screen. I prefer it to be at a corner. Is there a way to change the default initial window location? Btw, it would be a nice feature if krename remembered the last window location instead using the default one. Thanks in advance. Doruk -- FISEK INSTITUTE - http://www.fisek.org.tr |

Hello, Trevor Parsons fixed some spelling mistakes in the English KRename=20 documentation and put it into more idiomatic English. I added a new chapter= =20 on commandline switches. This leads to an updated version 3.0.12 of the=20 documentation. Please find it on http://www.krename.net best regards, Dom =2D-=20 ********************************************************************** Dominik Seichter - dom...@we...
