Hi out there,

i'm using krename 3.9.2 on KDE 4.2.2 and Archlinux and am missing the plugin 
functionalities. there are only the builtin plugins available in "Plugins" as 
well as in "Filename -> Functions".

how can i check if i'm missing something on my system?

i would really like to continue using krename.

Hi,

Which version of KRename do you use? Did you try version 3.9.2 which is a real 
KDE 4 application?

KRename 3.9.2 can be downloaded from:

Hi,

KRename is no "official" KDE application. It is not developed in KDE SVN and 
also not part in the KDE bug tracker.

I am affraid the output does not tell very much. So I am not sure where the 
problem lies. You could try KRename 3.9.2 which is a real KDE 4 application. 
You can find it here:
http://www.krename.net/Development.7.0.html

This should solve your problems.

On kde 3.5 doesn't start when you click the icon in K>System>file
manager>krename
the command associated to this icon is:
krename -caption "%c" %i %m %U
if you launch it by shell with krename it starts with this comments

Nothing ;) ! Just to make an "up" and say I'm alive and didn't forget.
I was syncing the french doc with the english source doc (3.0.12). But I 
don't work that hard ;) : the last modification I made on the doc was on 
January 20th (!). But I'll relaunch the machine soon and finish the 
work, I swear ;)

encoding conversion plugin seems to be missing from KRename for KDE 4.

If it's not, I'd like to request a more discoverable interface. If it
is, I'd like to request that it be re-added.

I think so. The biggest change was that the clean separation between Advanced 
and Beginners-Mode was removed, but both are available now via tabs and users 
can switch at any time with only one click between both modes.

KRename works great (but I'm a KRename beginner). I love the possibility 
to relauch KRename (after the last renaming step) on freshly renamed 
files or on files that could'nt be renamed just before...

Let me first introduce myself a little bit. My name is Jean-Jacques 
Finazzi. I'm 30. I'm French. I'm living and working near Paris. I'm 
contributing to the french KDE localization team (http://fr.l10n.kde.org).

As I'd like to use KRename, I've started to read the KRename french 
documentation yesterday (krename-3.0.3-fr.pdf, found on the 
http://www.krename.net). Well, it's well helping me, thanks ;) ! I was 
thinking I could review the documentation in order to correct typos, try 
to make the translation better, etc. Do you mind if I do that ?

I've already started he job. I converted the sxw to ODF 1.0/1.1 (with 
OOo 3.0.0), then started to modify the doc using the "track changes" 
mode, in order for people to see what modifications I made.

At the end, whom could I send the result to ?

The source version (krename-3.0.3-fr.sxw) was last modified 2005-05-30 
(which corresponds to the announce of the french translation by 
"Stéphane" on the mailing list : 
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=200505311428.34376.domseichter%40web.de). 
I know it may be a little bit outdated, but reviewing and updating it 
could be a good starting point, no ? After this, I could translate the

I fixed the install location of the service menus in SVN. Thanks for the hint. 
Unfortunately they still do not work on my systems. Do you have any ideas 
what could go wrong?

Fonts ändern ist im Moment nicht so einfach möglich, da KBarcode nur externe 
Tools aufruft und diese (bis auf TBarCode) keine Möglichkeit bieten einen 
Font zu setzen.

kann mir jemand einen Hinweis geben, wie im Barcode Generator der Font des
Textbereichs geändert wird?

Im Label Editor ist das kein Problem für den normalen Label-Text, aber auch
da habe ich nicht herausgefunden, wie die Schrift für den Barcodetext
geändert werden kann. Es ist mir klar, daß es keinen großen Sinn macht,
alle Fonts für Barcodes bereitzustellen, aber OCR-A oder OCR-B sollte doch
schon möglich sein.

Mein System:
Suse 11.0, Kernel 2.6.25.16-0.1-pae, KDE-Version 3.5.9 "release 49.1",
Kbarcode 2.0.6.

I found two of them:
/usr/share/kde4/apps/dolphin/servicemenus/krename_dir.desktop
/usr/share/kde4/apps/dolphin/servicemenus/krenameservicemenu.desktop

But none of them made an entry.

I created one today and attached it. Maybe it helps.
Location on my system:
/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/krename.desktop

I use kde 4.1.2 at the moment.

[Krename-users] KRename 3.9.2 released

Hi folks!

KRename 3.9.2 was released today.

The 3.9.2 release adds the old translations from the KDE3 version and updates 
the German translations. This is a call to all translators to update the 
translations in their language. Additionally a JavaScript plugin was added 
and icons and desktop links are now installed correctly.

I added the translations today to SVN. I intend to release a new version soon, 
so that translators can update the translations.

This is a big problem at the moment. KDE4 dropped the whole KFilePlugin 
mechanism KRename relied on. That's why I added only the MP3/Ogg plugin for

Now krename opens three instances and each one has one of the files in its 
list.

Is there a way to influence it?

[Krename-users] KRename 3.9.1 was released

Hi,

A new development release of KRename is available. It requires KDE 4.1 and 
taglib (which should be installed along with KDE 4.1 betas).

Chages:
* TagLib support for renaming of audio files was added. 
* Renaming of directories was fixed. 
* Date and permissions plugins where readded. 
* A large number of bugs was fixed.

Please feel free to report any problems you have with this release back to me.

Hi,

After you made your settings once, you can save them as a profile (Extras -> 
Profiles). You can set this profile as a default profile and KRename will use 
it everytime you start it.
