Hello Yuri, Thank you very much! I commited your translation to SVN. When building your translation, I get the following warning: [ 73%] Generating uk.gmo /home/dominik/Desktop/Programming/krename/krename4/po/uk.po:746: internationalized messages should not contain the `\v' escape sequence Could you provide a fix for this? I also updated all messages in SVN, so krename.pot should contain all messages now. Best regards, Dom Am Mittwoch, 3. Hi! Thanks for this very useful program. I want to submit Ukrainian translation for KRename 3.9.3. Unfortunately krename.pot that comes with released version seems to be incomplete. But anyway attached to this message you can find archived version of the current Ukrainian translation. Best regards, Yuri |

I added now an option, so that KRename will ignore the file extension and the whole filename (i.e. filename.extension) can be matched with regular expressions. See screenshot attached for this option. Unfortunately I forgot to commit it from my netbook before doing the release - so it is not part of the 3.9.3 release contrary to what I wrote in the release notes. Sorry about that. > > i did a few experiments which i hope you will find useful. > > i created the file "foo()[]{}?+|.bar\!=,-$^.txt" which contains all the > special regexp characters, and then tried replacing them one by one. > > i could replace these characters when they were escaped: "()?+|!=,-^." > > but i couldn't replace these ones when they were escaped: "[]{}$\" Yes, this is currently a problem of krenames parser which would need mature changes to fix that. The problem is that the parser is not based on a real tokenizer (I know, this is a HORRIBLE design) and therefore replaces "[]{}$\" internally with unknown unicode values. That is why you can't match them. > > also, i found some problems with finding the dot which marks the > extension when using the regexps "\.", "^" and "$". > > here are the results i get when trying to replace them with the > character "@" in the filename "a.b.c.txt": > > "\." gives "a.b@c@txt" but should be "a@b@c.txt" > "^" gives "@a.@b.c.txt" but should be "@a.b.c.@txt" > "$" gives "a@.b.c.txt@" but should be "a.b.c@.txt@" The new setting should fix this. > > i think the filename should be split on only the *last* dot, and then > the replacement applied to both components. or, even better, provide a > checkbox to ignore the extension so that the replacement can be made in > the filename component only (and maybe this should be the default). > > (n.b. dotfiles on unix systems need special handling - they should not > split on the last dot if the only dot is the first character in the > filename - so the file ".bashrc" has no extension). > > it would be great these problems could be fixed before the next release, > but if you do not have the time available, i understand completely! > > finally - many thanks to you dominik for this great little app! > > regards > baz walter > > --------------------------------------------------------------------------- >--- Register Now for Creativity and Technology (CaT), June 3rd, NYC. Hi, This release includes countless bug fixes and fixes several crashes. This release brings KRename finally to an useable state on KDE4 and contains most important features from the KDE3 version. A new setting was introduced, so that KRename will ignore the file extension. This is useful if you want to do find and replace for the dot which separates filename and extension. Thanks to everyone you send bug reports and feedback for the last reelase. You really got me going and made we work on this version, which I think fixed many issues and makes KRename finally useable on KDE4! Hi, I fixed save and restore of window size in SVN. The fix will be part of the next release. Profiles are not yet implemented for the KDE4 version of KRename. I am not yet sure wether I will bring them back. I'll better remove the menu item for now. Best regards, Dom Am Donnerstag, 28. (n.b. dotfiles on unix systems need special handling - they should not split on the last dot if the only dot is the first character in the filename - so the file ".bashrc" has no extension). it would be great these problems could be fixed before the next release, but if you do not have the time available, i understand completely! finally - many thanks to you dominik for this great little app! regards baz walter |

Hello, krename 3.9.2 does not restore last window size on start up. Fortunately I have a very big screen and would like to have krename window a lot wider at startup. Is that possible? In Menu there is an entry "Profiles" unter "Extras". No action takes place when clicking on it. What is it thought for? Cheers, Mark |

Hi, I start krename and press button "Add". File selecting dialog comes up. When I try to select two files at once and press "Open" I get a popup message "You can only select one file". If you have a bigger bunch of files it is big click and select orgy to get them into krename :-) Cheers, Mark |

Hello Dom, as krename is still my favorite small tool on KDE I would be happy if you maintain it also in the future :-) I use openSUSE 11.0 and Krename 3.9.2 krename -v Qt: 4.5.1 KDE: 4.2.86 (KDE 4.2.86 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090514)) "release 126" KRename: 3.9.2 My problem: The app itself works fine, but everytime I close krename I get a crash. I installed debug package and attached crash info. Cheers, Mark |

Hello, I fixed the issue with the disapearing check box in SVN. You already found the correct documentation for the regular expressions. Matching a dot with \. does work for me. Please not, that you cannot match the dot between filename and extension, as find and replace is applied separately to the filename and the extension. If you need this, we will have to find another solution. best regards, Dom Am Montag, 18. Hi Baz, Sorry for not answering to your email immediately. Your feedback is very appreciate. It's a pity I do not have more time for KRename at the moment. At the moment the -r option, like most commandline options, is not yet implemented for KRename 3.9.2. I added it to the top of my list as the commandline issues are an important point and should be brought back as soon as possible. I hope to have a 3.9.3 release soon which will bring the commandline options back! best regards, Dom PS: I will also take a look at the regular expressions bug you reported and the file selecting issue. hello i have had a look through the krename-3.0.12 documentation but i could not see anything regarding the regular expression syntax available in the find and replace dialog (i am using krename-3.9.2). is the syntax the same as documented here? http://doc.trolltech.com/4.5/qregexp.html#introduction i ask, because backslash escaping does not seem to work. if i want to match a literal dot, i cannot use "\." but instead have to put the dot in brackets like this: "[.]". is this as intented? finally, i have found one small problem with the find and replace dialog itself. whenever i try to edit a regular expression i have already added, the regular expression checkbox does not stay checked. this can be quite annoying as it often takes several attempts to get a regexp working right and it's easy to forget to tick that checkbox. could that dialog be changed so that it preserves the current setting? |

hello i tried reporting this issue through the Submit Bug Report tool but got no response, so i am trying here. using krename-3.9.2 from mandriva-2009.1 rpms, i have found that using the command "krename -r my_dir" does not show any entries in the Files List (not even files present in the top level directory). is the -r option implemented yet in krename-3.9.2? |

hello on my mandriva-2009.1 system i use single-click to open files and folders. this is causing me problems when selecting files in krenames's files list as a single click will immediately open the selected file. i have tried using ctrl+click and shift+click, but these still open the selected file. the only way i've found to select a file without opening it, is to use the keyboard arrow keys and spacebar. could krename be changed to enforce a double-click for opening files in the files list? the current behaviour makes things extremely difficult for single-clickers! tia |

hello i reported this issue through the Submit Bug Report tool but got no response, so i am trying here. using krename-3.9.2 from mandriva 2009.1 rpms i have found that the -r option has no effect. that is, if i run "krename -r my_dir", the files tab has no entries in the list (not even the files in the top level directory). is the -r option implemented in krename-3.9.2? |

Hallo, Thanks. Compilation from SVN worked. Now there is an exiv2-plugin available. lG, Michael. Hi, The plugin system that KRename used in KDE3 is not available in KDE4 anymore. So currently all plugins are built in in KRename until I write some code to support the KDE4 architecture. But there is an JPEG Exiv plugin, which is built if you have exiv2 development libraries installed when building KRename. Unfortunately, KRename 3.9.2 contained a bug that the exiv pluing was not built correctly. I fixed this problem in SVN. So to get the exiv plugin you have to checkout the current svn trunk and compile KRename by hand. I hope this is ok for you. Anyways, thanks for reporting this problem!
