This, next, in two weeks ?? I'd like to remove the entry >Single-Track Data< from the new Project dialog for it and implement in the TrackWindow that in audio only mode only audio data can be selected. Since I have no time till next Thursday (25.01.2000) because I have some exams at the university, I'd ask to wait till about 26.01.2000 23:00:00, if possible, or if someone else could add the stuff to the TrackWindow, and remove one entry in TrackListManager.cpp ??? Kind regards JoWenn |

Hi! My first version of the mp3 file scanner is in CVS now. It should work with 44,1 kHz stero mp3 files. Further checks and minor changes will have to be done for mono files or files with other sampling rates. We should now check the scanner with some mp3 whether it detects the mp3 file and gives a correct length of the song. I would suggest to prepare for a "snapshot release" soon. Many people are trying to compile 0.4.1 with KDE 2.x but due to API changes in KDE after 0.4.1 this won't work. How can we call this release? 0.9.0 ? Since we are heading for 1.0 and this would be a version before 1.0, it is IMHO a sensible version number. We don't need to make everything really stable for this release but we shouldn't touch things which will make KreateCD terribly unstable now Asking for comments Alexander -- Linux is like a Wigwam : no Gates, no Windows but an Apache inside My Homepage : http://www.moondream.de KreateCD Homepage : http://www.kreatecd.de |

Hi! I'm back and I have successfully upgraded my machine to a 900 MHz Athlon. It took me two days because I had problems with cooling but now I should be able to continue with mp3 support soon. I received a user-Email. He asks for 3 improvements. - selecting multiple files in a file dialog I think we need a new menu entry for this, shouldn't be any problem at all. - selecting multiple files in the ISO tree dialog - when building images - the progress dialogs (for every track) pop up at the current desktop. Does anybody know how we can pop up it at the desktop KreateCD is running? Alexander |

Hi! I just have begun with mp3 support in kreatecd. AudioFileFormat sets a AudioConverter class in AudioFile for fomats which cannot processed directly by kreatecd (for now this is only mp3). the convertAudio method is called whenever we need the PCM data of this audio file - which will be converted to a temporary .cdr file. This is extensible to all similar file formats like Ogg Vorbis. The current CVS HEAD calls mpg123, but it doesn't use its results and stores the temp file in a hard coded file. Progress output and success detection have to be done too. I hope I can continue tomorrow to get rudimental MP3 support in. There are two problems with mp3 support - how can we detect MP3 files? For now I assume a 0xff 0xfb at the beginning of the file. But this doesn't work for RIFF MP3 files and files from some strange encoders - who should have the length of an mp3 file before we decode it - how can we get this? We should support a "standard mode" which can be configured. When we create a new project with the menu, we can offer this dialog even when a standard mode is configured. Just my opinion. 1) Today I checked into CVS my DND stuff for the Tracklist. You can now drop files as iso images or waves onto the list. At the moment the label with the track sum and the buttons are not updated. At the moment all files are interpreted as mode1. 2) The menus are now using KDE2's XML-GUI stuff. 3) On startup a prototype of a new project dialog pops up, but at the moment in only supports the "Classic styles.". I want to implement a Audio only "style", which only accepts .wav files. (Later perhaps .mp3s, which are converted to waves before burining) and and Single Track Data CD "style", which creates automatically on track and shows the Iso-Tree directly in the mainwindow. I'd like to hear your opinions about the new stuff, ideas. Kind regards Joseph WENNINGER. PS.: Although I'm a littlebit late, I whish everyone a merry christmas. |

Hi ! I just wanted to announce that I plan some major changes in the MainWindow.* files for allowing easy adding of audio tracks with D'N'D and changing the order of the tracks in the ListView. For that purpose I add an additional class too, which seperates the View (List View) from the "real" track managment. I will perhaps commit them on Sunday evening or Monday. Joseph WENNINGER |
